AFFORDABLE JEANS FOR SPRING AND SUMMER
This week seems to be flying by for me. I swear that I am busier now than I have ever been, and I was wondering if you are feeling the same way. My regular work is still going on, but I’ve added a few extra things to my plate. I am trying to check on people that I know might be in harm’s way, I am cooking lunch and dinner (not my fav), and I am trying to keep the house in some semblance of order. Because Joe and I are both home most of the day, the housework has doubled. Some people are getting their spring cleaning done, some are watching tours online, some are learning to paint and draw, and I am cleaning. Something stinks, and I think that I know who the stinker is. Lol!
Today is Part 2 of my affordable jeans try-on session. I heard from a lot of you about this session, and I am glad to hear that you are enjoying them. I understand how it helps to have someone try them on before you make the purchase. I was ordering some items today from a brand that I’ve never worn, and I was looking for the reviews to tell me if they run true to size, etc. So, that is what I will try to help you with today.
This black pair of jeans are from Old Navy. I told you in my Tuesday post that I love wearing a pair of black jeans in the summer with a white t-shirt. This pair of jeans will be perfect for the summer months. They are very lightweight, and the material is almost like a chino, instead of a regular pair of jeans. These fit me perfectly, and I am wearing a size 10. They are an ankle-length, and I think that I have them rolled up one cuff in this photo.
They hit below the belly button so that I would call them a mid-rise. If you are looking for a lightweight, comfortable, skinny leg, and an extremely affordable pair of jeans, this is them. They are only 15.00!!! Here is the link to the jeans.
Many of you have seen me link to these jeans several times. However, I had never actually tried this particular pair of jeans; they were just similar to a pair that I wear that is no longer available. These are by Kut From The Kloth, which is one of my favorite brands of jeans.
I love the “whiskering” on these jeans. The whiskering and the faded coloring in the thigh area help with the broken-in look of the jeans. The jeans fit nice and snug through the hip and thighs, but they flare out at the bottom. These are a 33″ inseam, so they are longer than some jeans. I like my jeans to be longer, especially flare jeans, so that I can wear platform shoes and boots with heels.
These jeans sit right below my belly button so that I would call them a mid-rise. I took the recommendation and sized down in these jeans. The size 8 fits me perfectly, so I am glad that I sized down. These are on sale right now, so here is the link.
For all of you who like your jeans to have a looser fit, then you will love the boyfriend jeans from Old Navy. I have never been a huge fan of boyfriend jeans because they feel too big on me. However, I have found the solution to that problem. I ordered a size smaller than I usually wear, and they fit me great through the hip area and are still loose through the leg.
My tummy needs all of the help that it can get when it comes to holding it in, so I like my jeans to fit tightly in that area. I don’t mind the loose stovepipe legs; I think that style is cute. I like to roll this style jean up at least one roll in the summer months and wear them with white sneakers. These would look cute with the Rothy’s or the Sperry sneakers that I tried on last week.
Here is a photo of the pants without the cuff so that you can see the length. These jeans have a 29″ inseam, so they are shorter like an ankle pant. These jeans are high-waisted and sit right at my belly button. I am wearing the size 8 for a more snug fit, and here is the link to the jeans.
These black jeans have a unique detail, and I hope that the pictures will be able to let you see it. Black is a tough color to photograph, and details can get lost and not show. These have a lattice/lace-up design that runs down the side of the legs.
I tried to highlight the shadows so that you could see, but it is still dark. You can see them better in the video attached below. These are Sofia jeans from Walmart, and I am wearing my usual size 10 in these. They are snug, but they are supposed to be snug. Lol!
Ahh, I got creative so that you can see the detail that I am talking about. These have a 27″ inseam, so they are an ankle pant length.
The jeans hit right below my belly button. These jeans are a nice pair that has some flair to them for under 30.00, and they also come in several colors. Here is the link to the jeans.
I love these Kut From The Kloth jeans. These are super cute, and they will be fantastic this summer. These are called the Amy jeans, and they have just a tiny bit fraying at the hem.
The description said that these are perfect for cuffing, but I thought that the cuff was already sewn into the hem. I am confused, but I like these jeans with the cuff. These are a 26″ inseam, so they are a crop style which is perfect for flats, sandals, heels, or sneakers. In other words, you can wear these with any type of shoe. Lol!
These hit right below the belly button, so I consider them a mid-rise jean. I am wearing a size 10 in these, and they fit me perfectly. Here is the link to the jeans, and they are on sale!!!
I had seen that this style jean was a best seller, so I decided to grab it for all of you. I have to admit; it is not my favorite. The fit is okay, the color is okay, but I don’t like how they look on me.
These jeans have a raw-edge hem, which will probably get more frayed with washing. But, I feel like they strike me at an odd place on my leg. I am 5’6″ tall, and I usually wear a 32″ inseam. For someone who has had issues with pants looking short, these make me self-conscious. Maybe if I turned up the cuff, then I would like them better.
They fit nice from the rearview angle, which is almost enough reason for me to keep them. Lol!
These hit me right at the belly button, so I guess they are considered high waist jeans. I am wearing my usual size 10 in these jeans, and they fit great. Here is the link to the jeans.
Why, or why, did I have so much trouble with white jeans this time? Both pairs that I ordered were waaaay too tight on me, and they are already packaged up to head back to the store.
I liked the jeans, and the price is great, especially since they are now on sale. But, they lied when they said that they run big and that you should order a size down. Don’t listen to them! I usually wear a 30/10, so I ordered the 29/8, and you see what the results were. Lol!
These would be a great pair of jeans for the summer months coming but don’t size down. These sit right below my belly button, so they are a mid-rise. Here is the link to these Vince Camuto jeans that are under 50.00!

Supplements For Your Immune Systems
I have been looking online at ways to help the immune system. Things like not smoking, eating fruits and vegetables, drinking alcohol in moderation, and exercising, are things that we can all do. Also, we can add some supplements to try and boost our immune system, with the Coronavirus, especially in mind. Some of the top supplements that I found were vitamin D, zinc, vitamin C, and Elderberry. Always be sure to read the labels first, because I read that those with thyroid issues shouldn’t take Elderberry.
I have been taking Emergen-C daily, but I am getting ready to start taking Vitamin D, which my daughter is telling me that I need. Rodan + Fields has a Vitamin D supplement (here) that you only take once a week. You get 10 pills, so this will last you 10 weeks. I am doing a bulk order for some family members, so let me know if you would like me to order you this also. It retails for 27.00, but I am not trying to make money with this so, you can have it at the 23.00 PC price, plus 3.00 shipping. Just comment, or email me at fiftyisnotold@gmail.com if you would like to order this.

Psalms 94:19

Thanks for all this work trying on jeans! Very helpful! Yes, take vitamin D!
Great jeans try-on session. I struggle with jeans. I have a thick waist and pencil thin legs. If i get them to fit in the waist they look like clown pants on the legs. On bolstering immunity i saw a Dr on TV talking about it and he advised vitamins A B C D and Z for zinc! I thought That was an easy way to remember it.
I just received the Sofia gray jeans that I ordered Tuesday!! I love love love them!! THANK YOU! ?
Lately when I order anything, it is too thin, too tight and too much. I don’t mind paying for quality but you don’t know until it arrives, if you will get what you are paying for. Thanks Tania for describing them for us. It helps a lot. I like certain pants legs long too. I’m all legs and no waist. Somewhere along the line my waist, bust and hips decided to become one. LOL
I love kut from Kloth jeans. They fit me well. I even bought some this winter in courdory material too. It feels sooo long ago that I was wearing those. My fav is the Amy of today’s try on session. I really saw the lattice well on the black jeans when you put your fingers behind the cut it. Thanks, my eyes saw it way better and I like the added detail that brings to jeans.
Thank you for your uplifting spirit!! Would you ever consider a tour of your home? From what I can see you have elegant taste!!! Love your videos—so down to earth!
Betty, my house is NOT elegant. It is cluttered and everything is a mixture of yard sale finds, family treasures, or just plain old things. Lol!
When hubby & I retired my housework tripled—-living at home full time really increases your workload. It seems like I never have a clean home anymore!!! Thanks for all you do.
Belinda, I understand exactly!
I just want to say that I LOVE the normalcy of reading your post every morning. For a few minutes, I focus on your words and photos and can forget about everything around me. So thank you!
Thanks so much, Sue. Sometimes I sit down to write, and I wonder if anybody even wants to read during all of this. I am so thankful that you are enjoying the blog.
Thanks for some great honest reviews. Love that you were willing to show pics of the white jeans. White pants are always a tough one.
The white jeans would have been fine if I had ordered the correct size.
I love the shirt! Plus the jeans reviews, I am 5’6” 29” inseam and I always have a hard time finding jeans that look good on me and don’t feel like I’m either swallowed up in them or they look more like culottes.
I have to say I wish I were at home getting my “to do” list done, I come home from work and I am mentally exhausted. I am not a medical professional (bless them right now) but I work in a Public Health environment and it’s been hectic to say the least.
Michelle, I can’t imagine how stressed everyone in the medical profession is right now. I have reached out to a couple of my friends, and they are hanging on by a thread.
I’ve struggled with body image and fashion my whole life. Raising boys didn’t help my fashion at all. However, God has given me two DILs who have helped my body image and fashion sense. And then last week, I found your blog! I think you’re adorable and have learned so much already. When we all get to go out in public again, I’m going to look fabulous! Thank you!
Vickie, I am so glad that your sweet DIL’s are helping you, and that you are finding inspiration from my blog!
Thank you for the try on and honest reviews of jeans. Jeans are one of the most confusing things to buy, right up there with a bathing suit. LOL Thank you for the extra info you pass on such as supplements. I do not take Elderberry but considered it and did not know about they thyroid connection, will have to check. My PCP def recommends Vitamin D and checks mine regularly and it is excellent with a supplement. Look forward to a panoramic video of your new area. 🙂
I try to be honest about my reviews. It is hard with jeans, they are all the same item, so finding the differences is hard. I need to start with the vitamin D. My daughter has preached it for years, so I guess that I’ll listen to her for a change.
Love the info on the jeans. Will check them all out when this virus is under control. What kind of device are you using for you phone to take your photos and videos?
I’ll be glad when this whole thing is a distant memory. I use a tripod with a light.
i commend you, that is a lot of jeans to try on. I like the lattice detail pair, but worry it wont really show on black. so much great info, thanks much!
Mary, it doesn’t show as much on the black pair, but on the other colors, it shows quite a bit.
