DSC_0011I buy a lot of clothes! My mother will tell you that I never met a store I didn’t like. If I look long enough, I usually can find something to purchase. In order to buy a lot of clothes, I try to buy affordable fashions. But, what constitutes affordable?
DSC_0003A lot of my clothing comes from Old Navy, Cato’s, and TJ Maxx. These are store’s that I have deemed affordable. Last night, I went shopping for some items for a Superhero event our Woman’s Club is having. We went to Big Lot’s and Roses. If you have never heard of Roses, it is like a Kmart or a small Wal-Mart. While I was there, I decided to look at the women’s clothing with the idea of seeing if I could find something, that was not only affordable, not cute and fashionable. There were several cute blanket wraps, but I settled on this poncho in the perfect shade of gray. I am going to go with Pantone’s color chart, and call it Stormy Weather. It is featured in their current ad, showing the purchase price of 14.99.
DSC_0013The poncho might not been the thickest, or heaviest, and it is not wool or cashmere; but, it is trendy and fashionable. If I hadn’t told you any different, I could have passed it off as  coming from a higher end store. BTW, don’t you love my manicure? I think the color is called Romeo and Juliet. Really, it is.DSC_0015The pants were from TJ Maxx, last year I think, and I would guess I paid around 20.00 for them. Similar here. Just because I can, I say the color is off Pantone’s color chart and I am calling them Marsala. The boots are from Old Navy, and they have that nice wedge heel. A wedge heel is easy to walk in all day long. My Stella & Dot purse just seemed like a good choice to wear with this outfit. I had misplaced it, and I spent 15 minutes looking every where. I found it under another purse, in the first spot I looked.DSC_0001The pleated infinity scarf rounds out this outfit. It is from Cato’s, and was only $7.99! Math is not my strong suit, but if I added correctly, this entire outfit cost me around 78.00, (not including the purse). The purse was a free gift for hosting a Stella & Dot party. Don’t let money, or the lack of, keep you from looking and feeling your best.

Tania, love your hair short. Love all the mauve items. So pretty.

  2. I love your post. You’re good at it. And I admire that you look good while watching what things cost. I too check you first anymore.

    1. Thanks, Clarice! That really makes my day????

  3. I totally agree, especially when it comes to trends. I always look for something affordable. I love the colors in this outfit – you look beautiful!

  4. I really love this outfit and you are a smart shopper. Styles come and go and I don’t like to pay a lot for clothes that are trendy. I do buy good quality basics because they are good investments. I like this outfit and boo hoo there are NO Rose stores anywhere near Michigan. I bought a beautiful poncho from Talbots that has the look of an Irish cable knit and I am going to wear it with some mallard blue pants I bought last spring. It’s a great way for me to wear those pants now in the fall. I really like this look and the way you used color and the chevron design in both the scarf and poncho.

  5. I just found your blog last Saturday and wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed all your post. Yes, I went back and read all of them from the beginning. Your blog is now the first one I check every morning. Love all of your outfits!! It makes it even better to know they are affordable. I live in Texas and am really looking forward to sweater weather here. We are still in the 90’s during the day.

    1. Wow, Brenda! This is the nicest comment I have ever gotten!!! You made me tear up. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope to see you in the morning????

  6. Your my kinda gal…I buy affordable clothes too. I actually prefer a thinner poncho because if they are too bulky they can get too warm or add unwanted extra pounds to my frame. Love this outfit!

    1. Thanks Amy! Those pesky unwanted pounds are everywhere????????

  7. I think you are smart to shop that way! It’s good to know what to spend on and what should be a bargain. I need to work on that. 🙂
