A STATEMENT TOP THAT REALLY GRABS YOUR ATTENTION
When I say that I live in a beautiful area of the world, I mean it. If you like mountains and gorgeous views, then this is an area that you might want to visit. Today, I’m taking photos at a Welcome Center at Southern Gap Adventures. This is a campground in Southwest Virginia offering cabins, RV pull-thru sites, tent camping, archery tag, and ATV rentals! Plus, there is an Elk viewing platform where you can see the Elk roaming free.
I went up on the mountain to grab some photos, and I thought that some of you might be interested in visiting our area. Here are the Facebook and Instagram accounts for Southern Gap Adventures, or you can check them out on their website. Otherwise, you will still get to see more of the area where I live in my upcoming posts.
The sky was amazingly blue, and the wind was whipping my hair in every direction on Tuesday when I took these photos. The sun is beautiful, but it is not your friend if you are trying to take pictures, so we were forced to find shade. This covered porch is slightly bigger than mine at home, but I still was able to find a spot.
This outfit is sooo me! I love the bright-colored shorts, the navy top with statement sleeves, and the easy-breezy slip-on raffia sandals.
This navy balloon sleeve tee features embroidery on the statement oversized sleeves in festive colors. I crossed my fingers when I ordered this, and hoped that it would fit me because I loved the top. The description on the top said that it was semi-fitted, and fit close to the body. I took a chance and ordered a medium in the top, and was thrilled that it fit perfectly!
The sleeves look huge in my photos, but they are not that large. The wind was keeping them billowed out, so that is why they look so big. They are actually flowy and aren’t any larger than a bishop sleeve would be.
This top is available in a couple of other colors, but I liked the navy the best.
I’m in love with these loose pink shorts. The vibrant pink (also comes in other colors) looks awesome with the navy top, and I like the 8″ inseam. Shorts are not the easiest clothing item to wear, especially as we get older. The hot summer weather calls for shorts, but our legs beg to be covered. Lol!
Usually, comfort overrules my leg issues, and I choose to wear something cool when the summer sun is beating down on me. This pair of shorts are lightweight and soft as well as comfortable. They are made with eco-friendly Softcell fabric, although I am not sure what that is. The front of the shorts is flat, and the back of the shorts has elastic for a nice fit. I think these are a tiny bit big on me even though I am wearing a medium. I think that I am going to send them back and exchange them for a small.
Both of these items are by Diane Gilman, and you can check out more of her styles by clicking HERE.
I added a few pieces of jewelry to my look, but I didn’t go overboard since I wanted the sleeves and the shorts to be the focal point. I added the Jack hoop earrings in turquoise and the Rebecca stretch bracelet in white howlite and variegated turquoise.
The slide sandals are the perfect neutral that you will be able to wear all summer long. I am in horrible need of a pedicure, and maybe I will find the time to get one this weekend. These shoes are flat as a flitter, so don’t expect any arch support with these. But, the raffia material makes them super cute to wear with all of your summer clothes. I am wearing my usual size 9 and they fit me great.
While I was shopping, I linked to some SMART DEALS that are going on this month, but some are for a limited time. This retailer doesn’t allow me to pick the color of the item that I am highlighting, so if you like the style of the product, but not the color, click to see if it is available in other colors.
Last Friday, Jennifer, Susan, Deborah, and I did an Instagram LIVE chat. It got off to a rocky start since we had never done that before. Learning new platforms can be rough, but we figured it out. You might want to skip ahead until all 4 of us finally make it on the video, but here it is if you want to watch. Just click the arrow to start the video, and you can slide it forward if you want. Warning, it is long because we are all chatty. Lol! We will be doing another one this Friday, and we plan on making them a series.

Absolutely brilliant combination–I. Love. It!
I like this top!! And i really like the layout of the new emails!
I love this outfit and if looks good on you.
I would love a post about your hair cut. It’s adorable and I’d like my hairdresser to copy it.
I love your quote today! That top is also so cute.
I love this outfit and I think I will buy it! You have given me some confidence to wear shorts!
It all looks great even the new email.
Thanks for your blog!
Thanks for the email, Tania. I love the top!
New platform looks great – thanks for the cute outfit 🙂
Just checked and I didn’t receive the email so sending again in this format. Love your posts and so thankful to find someone that is not “model thin” at middle age but more REAL like those of us who have normal middle aged bodies!
Alice, I just sent you an email, so check your inbox.
You are so pretty and your clothes always look great. I enjoy your post.
Donna
Thanks so much, Donna!
Got the email just fine. I agree there’s a lot of dead space in the upper part. On an iPad Pro before scrolling down its all I see. But not an issue because I’m able to simply drag the page up using a single finger. I’m not sure about how it appears on a regular sized computer where you’d need a mouse and a free hand to scroll but for me, reading your blog daily is part of my morning routine, along with Jo-Lynne’s.
I’m looking forward to more Abingdon pics. My ancestor Samuel Briggs was instrumental in founding Washington county before the revolutionary war. I have never been there. It’s on my list to travel to Tinkling Spring and to the Stone Mountain Church.
I’m not sure how you can pull off those bright colors! I think your overall skin tone is darker than my very fair color and I think the low lights in your hair add contrast. I showed your new haircut to my stylist and she said the various colors in your hair add dimension to the style. Not to be confused with dementia which is what my spell checked attempted to change the spelling to.
Lol! That last part of your comment made me chuckle out loud. Lol!
Hi Tania
Hi Tania,I wanted to wish you a Happy happy birthday today. You look so you in your outfit.
Sending you much joy today.
Thanks, Katherine!!! Tomorrow is the big day!
Hi Tania!
A comment on your blog…I get an ad to the side and the bottom, and the menu on the top takes up a third of the page. That leaves just a little square for the blog. It is really hard to read! Just to let you know…is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks for listening 😊
Beth
I have no idea what is the issue. It doesn’t seem to do that for everyone, and it doesn’t on my phone, laptop, or computer.
I got your new email!
I love navy and pink together. Today’s outfit is so cute on you. Another classy and sassy outfit. I really like your shorter haircut. Thanks for sharing your many talents with us!
Have a great day!
The shorter cut is growing on me. I took the scissors to it today. Lol!
Sooo cute! And your haircut….I absolutely LOVE it! You look YEARS younger with it! 💕
You’re beautiful, I like you’re style, thanks for sharing your escapades, I love it. Keep it up, God bless you!!!
Yay!!! I should have cut it years ago. Lol!
Love this outfit and have always been a fan of the navy/pink combo. That top is too cute!! Love the new scenery and will have to visit the mountains in your area one day.
Gayle, I love navy and pink also.
Wow, you certainly do live in a beautiful area…the view of the mountains is stunning! I must admit I wasn’t a fan of today’s outfit at first sight because the sleeves looked so huge. Once I zoomed in on the pretty embroidery, I liked the top a whole lot better and the pink shorts are cute as well. By the way, your email came through just fine.
The top is way prettier in person, and you don’t really notice how large the sleeves are.
Love this outfit! So bright and cheerful! Love the location today! You bring us so much in each post!!!
I am glad that you liked the photos. We went to a similar location today, so you’ll get some more pictures soon.
Bought the top in a size Large. I’m a sucker for bright colors and the sleeve detail. Hoping it fits as I continue my wellness journey.
I hope it fits and that you love it as much as I do.
Cute Cute Cute
Yay! I liked it too!
One of my favorite warm weather color combos–pink and navy! Cute, casual and classy, in my opinion.
By the way, I LOVE the look of your new website look.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Wow! Gorgeous setting, super cute outfit!!!!! Got your email no problem!
Woohoo! I love the casual but adorable outfit. It is great to hear that the email arrived with no issues!
I love your new emails! I gave up social media but I still follow you for fashion and faith❤️❤️
Yay! That makes me so happy. I am thrilled that you got the email alright.
Guten Morgen, dear Tania!
What a lovely Outfit!! And it is such a pleasure for me to see photos from area you live! Guess we’ll drive next autumn blue ridge parkway-once in a live!! Enjoy, stay happy and healthy and thanks for your blog! Angela
Good morning, Angela! The Blue Ridge Parkway is beautiful and I know that you will enjoy the views.
Your comment about those shoes being “flat as a flitter” made me smile, thinking about my Alabama-born mother who often used that saying. Love the colorful outfit today!
I wondered if that was a saying that my northern gurls would find funny.
