A DOUBLE BREASTED BLAZER IN A CLASSIC PRINT
I am crossing my fingers that the small movie clips that I took of the house can be loaded to YouTube for those who don’t have Instagram. I haven’t uploaded a movie to YouTube in forever, but I think that I remember the process. Be sure to read to the end to find the video of the new house.
Funny story, on the 1 1/2 hour drive to the house, Joe was being Joe and giving me a hard time. Finally, he said, “I’m not an easy person to get along with.” After a LONG pause, I realized that I should probably protest his statement. So, I said, “no, you are not hard to get along with at all.” But, before I could get the entire statement out of my mouth, I started coughing horribly. Do you know when you swallow something down your windpipe how you can’t quit coughing? That was what happened to me while I was talking.
Once I finally quit coughing, I said, “nothing like getting choked on your words.” Lol! Even Joe had to laugh at that, but it did put him in a better mood for the rest of the day.
I ordered in some clothing from Talbots, and the houndstooth double-breasted blazer was beautiful colors of pink, navy, and white. I wanted to wear a bright pink sweater with the blazer to usher in Spring. A cold snap has had me freezing, and I can’t stand even to go outside to take photos.
This magenta turtleneck sweater by Free Assembly was just what I needed. This sweater is a fine-gauge knit that is super soft, and it fits like a dream. I even like the small amount of poof in the sleeves as a unique detail. Unfortunately, this sweater has sold out in EVERY color, so I wasn’t the only one who liked it. I’ll link to some sweaters in a similar color that would work with the blazer.
I decided to order in some silver jewelry, and this gorgeous cross was one of my first purchases. My friend, Kim, showed me this cross that her husband had bought her, and I had to order it for myself. I love the filigree ornate scroll design of the cross and the blue German glass stones. The blue stones are brighter than they look here but not as bright as they look online. You’ll have to take my word for it that the necklace is gorgeous.
The only other jewelry that I added was my Easton geometric hoop earrings. I’ve had these earrings for a long time, and I still love them as much as the first day that I bought them. I liked these earrings so much that I also ordered them in gold. They are also available in rose gold, and they are beautiful no matter which color you choose.
This double-breasted houndstooth blazer is a classic style in a classic print. In other words, you can’t go wrong with this blazer. The blazer is longer than most that I own, but I like the length. It hits me a little below my hips, which provides great coverage for the backside. See below!
Because the blazer is longer, it gives you more coverage in the back. I am wearing a size 10 in this blazer, and it is roomy enough that I was also able to add the sweater. Pink is the color for spring that I am loving this year, and you can see several items HERE that I have already ordered in.
I have many pairs of jeans, and sometimes it is hard to tell them apart when I see them in a photo. You know how I like unique details, and this pair of jeans stand out from the others because of the hem detail. This is called a dropped hem, and it looks like jeans that you let the hem out of so that they would be longer. For someone who had long legs growing up, I am very familiar with this look.
I have learned when ordering Talbots and Chico’s jeans to size down. So, instead of my usual size 10 that I order in most brands, these are a size 8. They fit great, and I think the hem detail is super cute and will look great this spring.
These navy suede driving loafers just arrived last week, and they are already sold out online. UGH! This is one of the most frustrating parts of blogging. These are by Born, and I already have a neutral-colored pair that I love, so I thought these navy ones would be a great addition to my shoe collection. I ordered a size 8.5 since I saw that they ran a little big. Here are some similar ones for you.

Many nice things! To think I was such a snob in the past as to shop only at Nordstroms and Macys!
Lol!
I must have missed something! You’re moving? So you won’t be living next to those grandkids anymore? That would make me sad. Is Joe retiring? I have so many questions. (My work computer has no speakers so I can only watch, not hear the audio of the “new” house.) So.Many.Questions.
Congratulations on your gorgeous new home! I wouldn’t change a thing.
It was great to hear your voice ! Agree your home exterior needs an update and it sounds like you’ll be doing some painting inside as well…It’s a beautiful home…..
Beautiful colors in your clothing. Love the cross! Thank you for sharing the video of your new house! It’s gorgeous! Is the yard area as pretty as yours now? Why is your current house going to be bought out?
The yard area is much nicer than what we have now. Our house is in the flood zone, so it is in the process of being bought out.
My high ceilings are the same color as the walls, but 2 or 3 shades lighter and separated with crown molding. I like a little bit of contrast.
My husband and I own a ranch with a ranch house, which is about an hour and a half from our “city house.” We go back and forth, sometimes spending a week or more at one place and sometimes it’s just a day trip to the country or to the city. I keep makeup, toiletries, clothing at both homes, so I can just jump in the car with JIM—-jewelry, iPad, medicines!
We love our country mouse, city mouse lives!
Tina, that sounds like our plan. I plan on having duplicates of everything, so I can do JIM also. Lol!
I absolutely LOVE your new home. Williamsburg, VA is our “happy” place and we visit it several times a year. I love all the brick and their architecture. It is a beautiful home and I am sure you will enjoy it!!
I am very excited about the house and I can’t wait until we start staying there.
Gorgeous house! I love it!
I, too, have never seen the ceilings painted like the walls. I think I like it though. And I love the colors!! What a beautiful home. Moving into that place will certainly make leaving your little grandkids a little easier.
I hope to not be away from them for very long.
Pink is definitely your color! I enjoy seeing how you pull outfits together.
Your new home is GORGEOUS! I love the plantation shutters too. Well, to be honest…I love everything about your new house.
Ahhh, thanks, Judy. I love it too.
I love your outfit today, you look so pretty in it. Your house is amazing, can’t wait to see how you will make it your own. Thanks for sharing the video!
Since we are also buying the furniture, we probably won’t do a lot of changes right off the bat.
House is beautiful! your countertops look just like mine!
I’m more of a soft pink person, I’d feel too conspicuous in bright colors. I had a magenta sweater when I was a young girl and it really washed me out. But you can pull it off!
I found a similar loafer on Amazon made by Lucky Brand. The ‘top’ comes up high on the foot, almost to the bend of the ankle and even tho I’m an 8 it makes my feet look really long. Not big, but long and skinny. Skinny feet LOL.
I am just the opposite. Some times pale pink will wash me out.
Hi Tania, You look so pretty in bright pink. Your new home is absolutely beautiful. The detail to design is amazing. The kitchen is fabulous, and like you I have never seen walls and ceilings painted the same color before. The home looks immaculate, and shows so well. Thank you so much for inviting us into your new home. You did such a great job of showing and telling.
I understand your comment about owning two homes and having double of everything and looking after two homes. We had three homes at one point and it was a lot, one was up for sale. We own one now, and I am so thrilled.
I love pink, and I have always loved it on me. The kitchen is my favorite part even though it is way smaller than my current kitchen.
Your new home is BEAUTIFUL. I think the painted ceilings are pretty, but I am sitting under popcorn. 🤮🤣
While I absolutely love all things pink,
I have always been told I can’t wear it bc blonds are peach toned. I love that you can pull off pink. I might give it a try!
Denise, we had popcorn in a home a long time ago, and Joe swore never again. Lol!
The house is gorgeous! …and I LOVE the ceilings! Different, but wonderful, and the molding & trim really pops! Nice touch! Congratulations!!
Kim, you are right! The molding really pops with this treatment.
Love your new home! It is just beautiful. Love the crown moulding and the kitchen is gorgeous. Love the walk in closet. Can you tell I love it? LOL Definitely put some shutters on the outside. I also love your accent. You sound adorable!!
Lol! Janet, that is how I feel too.
Beautiful new home. Love the crown molding and the ceilings the color of the walls. Very nice details. Enjoy. I love the bright pink today with the blazer. I like the shoes too. I really like classy flats,
Rory, I hardly ever wear flats, but I thought that I would give them a try.
Love the pink outfit and the cute jeans. That color is one of your best for sure.
Your house is absolutely gorgeous!!! I haven’t seen ceilings painted the same as the walls before either, but it is very nice looking. Congratulations!
I had seen it some, but not a lot. However, it grew on me really fast.
I love the pink too….it’s a great color on you!
Your new home is beautiful 😍
I have seen ceilings painted the same color as the walls before, although not often. It’s gorgeous!
Enjoy making it “home!”
Pink is one of my favorite colors!
What a gorgeous house! I really love those painted ceilings and may have to try that in my house. What an exciting new adventure for you!
Also, love that pink sweater and jacket! So perfect for these dreary late-winter days!
I didn’t know if I would like the ceilings painted at first, but I really like it.
I love the pink today. I’m ready for Spring. We got about a foot of snow here in Oklahoma and expect about that much tomorrow also so the Spring look was much appreciated today.
Love your new house. I’ve never seen the walls and ceilings painted the same color either but I love the look.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Wow! I saw that you guys were getting lots of snow. So far, we’ve been lucky.
You look STUNNING in pink. Thanks for sharing the new home. Love all the crown moulding..
I love the crown molding also.
Love the peek at your new digs!!! That kitchen is to die for!! Never thought about painting the ceilings the same color but I like it. Cant wait to see more!!
Thanks, Debbie. I really like it and can’t wait to start spending some time out there.
Beautiful new house! You’re so nice to share it. I would definitely vote for a portico and shutters! It looks deceiving from the outside; it’s huge inside! Good luck! A new home is always so exciting!
The house is not wide from the front, but it goes back forever. Plus, it has a full basement and an upstairs.
Love the pink today. Jeans are really cute and I love the fit.
Thanks, Teresa. The jeans fit great when I order down one size.
Great house.
Agree with you though as I have never seen ceilings painted the same color as the walls. My opinion is that it’s too much in the bedroom and kitchen.
The details in your new home are beautiful. Love the judges panels and the soft green paint.
Donna, it is funny how the ceilings make the molding POP, and I actually find them to be soothing. It isn’t something that I was used to, but I really like it now.
Donna, according to my decorator friend, the idea is to not make the ceiling a focal point. This technique cannot be used in low ceiling rooms without crown. My entire house is the same color, I have 10 ft ceilings and 4 inch crown. It’s beautiful. My walls and ceiling are agreeable gray and trim is creamy white. We had professional painters. By sticking with a same color all over they did the entire inside in one day. Since we are in a 55+ community and in our 70s we chose sellability over quirkiness and visited many of the brand new models in the area. None had white ceilings nor had white walls.
Love the pink today!!! Makes me happy to start wearing some color!!! Love, love, love your new house! Just beautiful!! Beautiful woodwork and I love that ceiling idea!!! Enjoy your new adventure!!!
I love the pink also. The woodwork was what got Joe onboard. The ceilings are so soothing.
