WOULD YOU WEAR THE NEON TREND
Are you easily offended? Honestly, I have pretty tough skin, and it takes a lot to offend me. I tell you all the time that I have the Sahara Desert skin because it is so dry, but it is also like a duck’s feathers. Negativity just rolls right off of my back. This is a great trait, and it has served me well over the years. The other day in a post, someone left a comment, and they were apologizing for not liking my outfit. They said, “are you going to kick me out of the group?” Lol!
I found the comment so funny, and I know there was no ill will meant. There is a huge difference between not liking something that I am wearing, and not liking me. I understand that, and there are times when “I” don’t like one of my outfits. I have been blessed with the best readers, and I am not just saying that, because I have seen some blogs where comments are left that are hurtful and mean. Those comments attack personality, body issues, and are very personal. Those types of comments are meant to be harmful instead of just having a difference of opinion. Some people love taking minor comments that mean no offense, and blowing it up into a huge ordeal. I think that we should always be kind to one another, but I also believe that we should give each other some grace. Now, I bet you are afraid to leave a comment if you don’t like my outfit. LOL!!!
One of this year’s hottest trends is neon. I haven’t jumped on board with this trend yet; it is even too bright for me. BUT, there is always more than one way to do things. In this case, I am wearing a bright (maybe not quite neon) top to mimic the trend. But, what I think that I am going to do is to order some accessories in neon. Accessories are cheaper than most outfits, but you still look trendy and modern with these added. Here are some ideas.
Gurls, I have been in a panic for about a month. I couldn’t find these gray jeans, and they are one of my favorites! The last time that I remembered wearing them was in this post, so I called my sister and asked if I had left them at her house. She told me that I hadn’t left them, but I wasn’t sure that I believed her. I did leave a shirt down there a month before that and guess who is loving that shirt. The only reason that I thought she might be telling me the truth is because she wears a size smaller than me. Lol! Anyway, imagine my surprise when I found my jeans today. I took a flashlight into the closet and went through EVERYTHING until I finally found them. I danced, and danced around the room because I was so happy!!! These jeans are from Old Navy and here is the link.
I bought this gray striped cardigan before I went to San Francisco back in January. It was super soft, and I bought it because I knew that it was going to be chilly there. I have seen a lot of these striped cardigans in stores and online. I love cardigans for the warmth and also because they also hide my problem area…aka the tummy area. My cardigan is from Cato’s, but it doesn’t exist anymore. However, you know that I found a lot of others for you to choose from.

Thanks for the tip on the gray jeans – I have been in the market for a 2nd pair. Gray jeans are really versatile and so
I took your suggestion and ordered a pair from Old Navy! I think you are a special and brave lady for putting yourself out there for all to see. I would love to know more about your necklace. I love neon and am in the over 50 club so i put my neon in accessories (jewelry, shoes and bags of course)! But the tank tops are great for color at the face too. I enjoy your posts! I love brights and incorporate them every season.
Traci, I love my gray jeans. I almost broke down and ordered this same pair on Sunday because I didn’t think that I was going to be able to find them. Lol! My necklace is one that was just discontinued from Plunder, that is why I didn’t mention it on the blog. Sorry ?
Happy Easter week! You look so great in your outfit! Not a color I can wear but you rock it! And it was another great post!
You had me laughing about using a flashlight in your closet because we sold our home last summer and moved into an apartment while searching for our retirement home, which we found last Sunday, but while we continue to live in the less than 900 sq. Ft. Apartment waiting for our home to be built I’m learning to stack pants on the closet shelf due to room restrictions and you made me realize it would help me out to have a flashlight at the ready because I too am forgetting I have things amongst the stacks.
Have a great day!
Jayne, my clothes are jammed in my closet so tight that I can’t see them very good. Plus, my pants hang on the bottom rack and the light doesn’t shine on them very well. I even laughed at myself for using the flashlight. Lol!
I don’t get why people have to say negative things to a perfectly sweet, funny lady like you that shares her life & her wisdom w/us daily no matter how busy you are! But I can honestly say I have never disliked any of your outfits! That being said, I think you should GO FOR IT w/the new neon trend (altho I do not know what that is as I haven’t seen anything too bright). You rock bright colors & you love them, so give it a try. You’ll rock that trend too! Cute shoes by the way!
Charlcy, you are always sweet and kind in your comments. And, I can tell from your Facebook feed that you are that way in person also. I am seriously thinking about buying a pair of neon shoes!!!
I so appreciate your attitude about differences of opinion vs not liking a person. We need to build each other up and support each other, not tear each other down! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks, Marilyn! I don’t wear my heart on my sleeve, at least not most of the time. And, I know that my outfits are not everyone’s cup of tea and that is alright. That is why there are so many bloggers out there.
I was going to say I that I don’t wear neon but I would wear the bright pink top!
I love that top also!!!
I love your blog and was so glad to find it.. I don’t feel comfortable wearing all the same styles my daughter’s do so needed help finding things I could wear and still look stylish. I love the way you look in your outfits but would not always wear them myself, color and personal preference mostly. One of the things that keeps me coming back to your blog is that the comments are so nice. The ladies here are awesome, as are you. Thank you for ALL of your posts, please keep it up.
Jeni, you hit the nail on the head!!! Everyone who comments is positive and uplifting. We are a community and we all want the same things: to look nicer, help others, and feel better about ourselves!
I like your subtle take on the neon trend! At this point in life, I’m not sure I could even get away with neon earrings. Hmmm . . . maybe socks!
I almost linked to a pair of neon socks. Lol! I was thinking about ordering a pair of neon shoes, Jena. I think that would be super cute.
I love all your outfits and only wish all the items you wear were still available!
Lori, I swear that I really do try to style items that you can purchase. I understand because I always wanted the item that bloggers were wearing when I started reading blogs years ago. I order clothing and then take pictures, but sometimes before I can even get the blog post written, they have already sold out.
Believe it not, there are many outfits that I have not loved. but you have opened the door to trying so many things out of my comfort zone and really helped build my self esteem (I found you when I was just starting to feel super old and out of touch) so thank you. I hope that you are always spared personal negative comments because you are always so positive and fun!
WHAT! There have been outfits that you didn’t love??? Lol! I am tickled to hear that you are trying things out of your comfort zone. Aging in years does not mean that we have to get old.
This is cute! I love the colors – I have olive skin and couldn’t wear them but they are adorable on you! I love your blog and I am glad I found you! Reading your blog is like my daily devotional! I have a question – are you a Plunder consultant? I am thinking about selling it and wanted to ask. I ordered the good madallion initial and I love the quality and price. Thanks and have a great day!
Good morning, Jeananne! Yes, I am a Plunder Consultant. I like their pieces and I think the quality is good, especially for the price. They just launched a new catalog this week!
I LOVE your outfit Tania (?) no seriously I love grey and the pop of yellow is lovely the Neon trend is not for me I wore it the first time around in my 20’s good idea with accessories might give that a go and I liked your comments about negativity you are so right have a lovely day ?
Haha! Bernie, you were afraid NOT to like the outfit. Lol! I think that a pair of neon shoes might be something that I look at buying.
Well, I love your post AND outfit today and I’m glad to still be in the group!! My parents taught me not to give an opinion if one wasnt requested and then to always be kind. Good advice some 50+ years later!
As for neon, (since you asked!!) I can wear that one brilliant shade of green with my red hair, but that’s the only one!!
Sue, I love what your parents taught. I truly don’t take offense to someone not liking my outfit, and I wouldn’t ask if I wasn’t also not “feeling” it. Remind me not to ask, “does this make my butt look big?” Hahaha!
You are funny! I truly love reading your blog daily and your Sunday post always touches my heart♡
