WOULD YOU WEAR THE NEON TREND

50 IS NOT OLD | WOULD YOU WEAR THE NEON TREND | FASHION OVER 40Are you easily offended? Honestly, I have pretty tough skin, and it takes a lot to offend me. I tell you all the time that I have the Sahara Desert skin because it is so dry, but it is also like a duck’s feathers. Negativity just rolls right off of my back. This is a great trait, and it has served me well over the years. The other day in a post, someone left a comment, and they were apologizing for not liking my outfit. They said, “are you going to kick me out of the group?” Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | WOULD YOU WEAR THE NEON TREND | FASHION OVER 40 I found the comment so funny, and I know there was no ill will meant. There is a huge difference between not liking something that I am wearing, and not liking me. I understand that, and there are times when “I” don’t like one of my outfits. I have been blessed with the best readers, and I am not just saying that, because I have seen some blogs where comments are left that are hurtful and mean. Those comments attack personality, body issues, and are very personal. Those types of comments are meant to be harmful instead of just having a difference of opinion. Some people love taking minor comments that mean no offense, and blowing it up into a huge ordeal. I think that we should always be kind to one another, but I also believe that we should give each other some grace. Now, I bet you are afraid to leave a comment if you don’t like my outfit. LOL!!!
50 IS NOT OLD | WOULD YOU WEAR THE NEON TREND | FASHION OVER 40One of this year’s hottest trends is neon. I haven’t jumped on board with this trend yet; it is even too bright for me. BUT, there is always more than one way to do things. In this case, I am wearing a bright (maybe not quite neon) top to mimic the trend. But, what I think that I am going to do is to order some accessories in neon. Accessories are cheaper than most outfits, but you still look trendy and modern with these added. Here are some ideas.

50 IS NOT OLD | WOULD YOU WEAR THE NEON TREND | FASHION OVER 40Gurls,  I have been in a panic for about a month. I couldn’t find these gray jeans, and they are one of my favorites! The last time that I remembered wearing them was in this post, so I called my sister and asked if I had left them at her house. She told me that I hadn’t left them, but I wasn’t sure that I believed her. I did leave a shirt down there a month before that and guess who is loving that shirt. The only reason that I thought she might be telling me the truth is because she wears a size smaller than me. Lol! Anyway, imagine my surprise when I found my jeans today. I took a flashlight into the closet and went through EVERYTHING until I finally found them. I danced, and danced around the room because I was so happy!!! These jeans are from Old Navy and here is the link.
50 IS NOT OLD | WOULD YOU WEAR THE NEON TREND | FASHION OVER 40I bought this gray striped cardigan before I went to San Francisco back in January. It was super soft, and I bought it because I knew that it was going to be chilly there. I have seen a lot of these striped cardigans in stores and online. I love cardigans for the warmth and also because they also hide my problem area…aka the tummy area. My cardigan is from Cato’s, but it doesn’t exist anymore. However, you know that I found a lot of others for you to choose from.

  1. Lord I should have recognized the logo!

  2. Ha! So yesterday was crazy and I didn’t get a chance to read your blog. Your comment about the links for neon made me curious. I’m so glad I took a peak. Just a little eye candy for a rainy (in Texas anyway) Thursday. Thanks!

I’ve never been all in on neon, not even in the 80s. To me, a little goes a long way. But I LOVE how you styled it above. I’d do the same, but with pink. So, I’ll be copying it at some point. ; )

I really like your grey sweater and jeans. I have never purchased Old Navy Jeans and wonder if they fit true to size. I have to order online as we are too far from a store.

  4. Tania, your outfit is so cute today! Re: the term “hump day:” I don’t find it offensive so much as dated. I first heard the term back in the 70’s. There was a a rock station in Los Angeles- KMET, and one of the DJ’s there always called Wednesdays “hump day.” I have no idea if he coined the phrase or heard it somewhere else. Today, the only people I hear still using the term are fashion bloggers over the age of 50! You, Cyndi, Susanne, Jodie, etc.! Love your style!

    1. I just keep seeing people posting that on Facebook. I don’t think that I know anyone that has even said it to me in person. Lol!

  5. Your outlook on handling people who disagree with you is refreshing. This morning I was noticing how it appears that most folks will tell you that you are WRONG and cut you off if you have a different opinion than they do. (Oh, and love today’s outfit! ?)

I don’t care for neon so I won’t be buying anything that color but then I don’t always go along with the current trend anyway. But I agree with the ones who say that you have challenged them to do different thigs. And I may not I like every outfit that you style but I like YOU A LOT! I especially appreciate that you love the Lord! I’m so glad that you ‘re able to let the negative comments roll off your back! I don’t do that so easily. God Bless you!

  6. Love the outfit, but especially those shoes! Do you have a link for them?

    1. Dara, those are a pair of Chanel espadrilles. You can find them on eBay, but they cost a pretty penny. Mine was given to me, there is no way that I would pay that much for a pair of shoes.

  7. I like this outfit today. Like earlier commenter said the pop of yellow is just right with the grey. As for neon, well it reminds me of the 80’s and I’ve been there and done that so a few accessories would be my answer to staying trendy. I can’t imagine anyone saying ugly things to you about anything! If they do or did I’d just ignore it and go on. It shows where their heart lies. There have been very few looks you’ve posted that weren’t for me. But we’re all different and what works for you may not work for me all the time. That’s life. By the way, I’m getting my package today. Can’t wait!!?

  8. I really like your outfit today. I won’t be doing neon–just because it’s trendy doesn’t mean it’s a good look! My personal style is more toward classic anyway. The great thing about fashion blogs is it gives us ideas. There are many things I don’t like in my fav blogs, but that’s okay. We all have our own tastes.

  9. I love the small bead bracelet you wear and ordered one for myself with a Tiffany blue charm. My husband doesn’t know it yet, but he will be giving it to me for Mother’s Day instead of his usual gift of hanging baskets for the yard, haha.

    1. Terri!!! We could be soul mates or sisters separated at birth. Lol! I do things like that to Joe all the time. He bought me an LV purse for my birthday next month, but he has no idea. I have been carrying it for over a month and he hasn’t even noticed. Lol!
