WORKING OR PLAYING
After you read this post you may start asking yourself, “is she working or playing?” I have been asking myself the same thing. I just got back from Glamour Day in Columbia, SC late Sunday night. This was a day of pampering from some of the leaders in Rodan and Fields. I was one of about 30 – 40 women who traveled from all over the south to attend this event. This was my second Rodan and Fields event that I have attended, the first being Las Vegas. I got to meet a lot of wonderful women who I had only seen come across my FaceBook feed.
The event started at 10:00 a.m. and we arrived a little early to help with setting up. Honestly, Caroline Glenn had everything under control, she did a great job of coordinating all the details. As you arrived you were given a group number to try to keep everyone from overwhelming the makeup and hair stylists. I was in group 1 which meant I didn’t have to walk around with no makeup on all day. THAT was a good thing. Lol! Both makeup ladies were very nice, but I liked mine the best. Haha Carolyn from RockStar Beauty did a great job on my makeup. I had never had anyone put my makeup on before so I was a little nervous. I admit that I packed my makeup bag and brought it with me to the event just in case I needed to quickly duck into the bathroom and do some adjustments. Lol! Thankfully, I did not have to do that, but my Energizer Bunny friend was not as lucky as me. She did not have Carolyn as her makeup lady. I would have loved to have shared her photo, but I don’t guess that would have been very nice. However, it would have been funny!
There were three ladies doing hair, and all of them did a great job. I had mine done by Lauren who said she loved my cut. When I sat down, she said that my hair already looked great even though all I had done was wash it and dry it with a round brush.
We had plenty of snacks and drinks. I somehow didn’t manage to get a picture of the Mimosa’s, but I did manage to drink one. I had worried about having a massage because I can’t stand to be still and I am not comfortable with someone, other than Joe, rubbing their hands all over my body. Lol! Turns out I didn’t have to worry, the masseuse had to cancel at the last minute. I was not a bit unhappy. Hahaha!
This is my Energizer Bunny friend aka Leigh Ann. She and I had on a “lash” shirts and “lash” glasses in honor of the new product Lash Boost that was recently released from Rodan and Fields.
And then the two of us became four. We laughed and said this is how we wanted our teams to grow.
The four soon became five.
And then we were at eight.
Holy cow, now we are at nine!!!
When your team expands to ten, you go a little crazy! ??????
I promise I wasn’t an oddball that bought the wrong color shirt. There were a lot of gray shirts at the event but they had all left by the time we got around to taking these pictures. Being different from everyone else is one way to get put in the middle of the picture. Lol!
This is a group shot after the event was over. We were the only ones still left, that tends to happen when it is time for the cleanup. The real reason that Leigh Ann and I were sticking around is because there was going to be a business opportunity session happening in about 30 minutes. We live in such a small town that there will not be any of these sessions coming to Grundy, and we wanted to hear what they had to say.
Caroline (in the lash shirt) did a great job getting everything together for the event. And Iris, in the brown, is the one who talked during the business session. While pampering was fun, I admit that the business opportunity session was my favorite part of the entire day. It was so inspiring to hear Iris’s story about how she got involved with R & F and how it has changed her life. Caroline shed a few tears when she talked about her job as a pharmacist. She was working 60 hours or more a week and not getting to spend any time with her family. I am still new to the “business” part of R & F, I got involved because of the products, so it was interesting to listen to Iris tell me about the company and about the doctors. When she talked about Proactive which is the number 1 acne selling medicine in the world and which is sold in 181 countries, I remember thinking how crazy it would have been if I had gotten in on that slice of the pie 20 years ago. Now that these same doctors are inviting me to join in with them, I am not about to miss out on that opportunity.
I was happy with my skin looking better, but I admit I could get used to all this pampering. My Energizer Bunny friend surprised my with a white, very soft and fuzzy, robe with R + F and my name embroidered on it. She also insisted on paying for my supper and the hotel bill. You can see that it was all “work” and no “play!” Lol!
So, I have been thinking about a “special” to run for the Christmas season. I have come upon two ideas! This will work for Plunder OR Rodan and Fields.
- 10% off any order over 50.00 (excluding the taxes and shipping) I will send you a check. OR
- Layaway. You would have to message me your items you wish to purchase. I would need a 20% downpayment, (Paypal preferred, but I can take a credit card over the phone) and then remaining must be paid by December 1st. The items will be then shipped to you.
To place an order for the 10% off with Plunder, go to www.plunderdesign.com/party/ts and go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.com to place an order with Rodan and Fields.
To place an order for the layaway, email me with all your information at fiftyisnotold@gmail.com

I appreciated all the prayers that you have said for my grandmother. Unfortunately, she passed away late Monday night, so I am traveling to Tennessee for the funeral. Granny was a wonderful force in my life and I loved spending the night with her. I am thankful for all the wonderful memories I have been left with and that she went peacefully. She was a wonderful Christian lady who was even my Sunday school teacher for years. She loved Butterfly pins, so all of the women in the family are going to be wearing a butterfly pin from her collection.
It is time for a giveaway. The response was so overwhelming last month when I gave away a Rodan and Fields multi-function eye cream, that I decided to give away another one. To enter, leave a comment about your own grandmother. I will announce the winner next Wednesday.

While it’s such a blessing to have wonderful family around for a long time, there is such a void when they leave us. I’m glad you have such great memories to keep your grandma with you. I love the butterfly pins.
On a lighter note, I bought those eyelash glasses for my 3 older grandchildren for Christmas. I can’t wait to take pics of them.
I have so many good memories of both my grandmas. Probably what has stayed with me the longest is that my maternal grandfather called my maternal grandma “angel mother”. All the time – that was his name for her. When my own dear mother died 3 years ago, one of my cousins comforted me by telling me that I now had my very own “angel mother”.
A sincere hug to you.
Tania, I am so sorry to hear that your grandmother passed away. I had a great love for both of my grandmothers. I am named after my father’s mother, Elizabeth. She lived to 98 years of age. My other grandmother, Ivor Belle, died much younger, though I was very close to her and fond of her as well. My grandfather called her “Belle” but almost everyone else called her “Tucker”, which was her (married) last name. She was full of love, and had a generous heart and a knack for hospitality. God Bless you and your family at this difficult time. (You seem to be a beloved grandmother, yourself:)
So very sorry for your loss. My Grandmother was one of the greatest influences on my life and I still miss here everyday. It’s been 40 years but I will never forget her. You were so fortunate to have so much precious time with yours. Travel safely.
Tania,
So sorry for your loss. Grandmothers are very special and those of us that have them as long as you did are very very lucky. I have wonderful memories of both grandmothers and so wish they had been here to see their Cubbies win! Prayers with you at this time.
Tania, I’m sorry about your grandmother. My grandmother is a wonderful lady that is still going strong at 92. I love her and can’t wait to go see her again at Christmastime.
Tania, I’m so sorry for your loss. Safe travels and I will keep you and her in my prayers.
Tania, my grandmother was a wonderful Christian woman … I loved her so much. She had so much energy and always enjoyed taking me on great adventures. She was 95 when she passed away about 7 years ago.. I still think about her almost every day.
My heartfelt sympathy on your loss Tania.
My prayers go out to you and your family as you come together to honor your grandmother. Don’t have to many memories of both grandmothers. They died when I was young. I have been told many loving stories. My mother’s mother must have been a very patient mother. She had 13 children and they all loved her dearly. My dad’s mother only recollection I have is when we shopped with her at Rich’s in downtown Atlanta. Mom didn’t realize she had never stepped on an escalator. What a protest she made. She was from the north Georgia mountains. Also, thought you had to talk louder on a phone call from there so I’ve been told. We forget about how far my dad had come from those mountains to make a better life for us. I wish I could have known both Ila Bryd and Peicola better. Unusual names for two unique ladies.
Tania, my sincere sympathy on the loss of your sweet grandma. I remember that video, I was so impressed with her the first time I saw it. Your entire family is amazing to me and you were so blessed to have been so close to your grandma. Sweet memories which will be treasures forever.
