WHO NEEDS A WORM ANYWAY
Well, I am in the “trying to keep my head above water” survival mode right now. Lol! It sure didn’t take long for that to happen since I went back to work. My table/desk is a mess and I didn’t even make my bed this morning. A guess a disclaimer would be that I have been known to not make my bed until I am getting ready to get back in it, but normally I do straighten it up of the mornings. I didn’t have to stay all day at work yesterday since I had a scheduled call already for 4:00 pm, so I hightailed it out of there a little early. Even though I have been setting my alarm clock I have not been able to make myself get out of bed early. I am not a morning person!!! I will not be getting a worm any time soon. Lol!
When I went to the convention last week I was privileged to get to hear Mel Robbins speak. Mel Robbins is the author of the 5 Second Rule, which is an incredible book that talks about how she was able to turn her life around by applying this simple rule. She said that she needed to get out of bed and she envisioned herself like a rocket so she counted backward from 5. Just like a lunch of a rocket ship, she counted 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and then she got up. SHe was amazed at how easy that little trick worked so she kept incorporating it into her everyday life. Anytime she knew that she “needed” to do something but she didn’t “want” to do it, she would count backward from 5 and then she found herself going ahead with the activity. She talks about how the brain works and why counting backward helps you to do this tasks but I forget all of the specifics. It is a book worth reading though. Now, I just need to actually apply it to my mornings. Lol! I’ll let you know if it worked for me because I am going to try it tomorrow morning.
Let me start off by saying that I love this print on this top. I love the deep colors which are perfect for fall and I love a paisley print, it is one of my favorites. BUT, I am not loving the top as a whole. I decided to take some pictures of the top like it would be if I was wearing it somewhere. Taking a picture gives you a completely different perspective than if you just look in the mirror. You should try it sometime, you will see what I mean. Anyway, once I took the pictures and downloaded them, I was leaning toward taking the top back. Help me out here, what do you think? This came from a local boutique and it is by Karen Kane, so it is a nice top. I just can’t help but think that I can find something that I would like better. Why would I settle for something that I don’t love? I guess I know what I am going to do. Here are some paisley tops that I do really like.
I don’t have on any jewelry except for the Ciara earrings! These long teardrop gold filigree earrings have become a go-to for me this year. They go with almost anything and they make quite a statement. I ordered a bunch more jewelry from Plunder and paid to have it shipped 2-day service so that I can get it in time to video it for Friday’s post. Don’t forget about this month’s giveaway since this is the last week to take advantage of it. I have been celebrating my 3 year blog anniversary by offering a free piece of jewelry with every 50.00 purchase (excluding taxes and shipping) for this entire month! Go here and have fun shopping! Make sure that you pick a party with my name in it so that I can track the purchases.
My tan skinny pants are also Karen Kane. I love this color for fall. It is a butterscotch color. That just made me hungry. Lol! I couldn’t find these pants on their website but I did find some that were very similar for you. I already have a couple pair of pants in this color but one is a corduroy and one is a chino style. This one has the spandex material in it so it is more like a legging style. Yes, I need them all. Lol!
These platform sandals are from Marc Fisher. They have been a pair that I have worn a lot since I bought them a couple of years ago. I liked the gold rings which is a unique detail that helps them to stand out. But, it is the neutral color that I love. This shoe is like the earrings above, they just go with almost anything. You need to have a good neutral pair of shoes that you can wear with a dress, shorts, pants, suits, jeans, etc.
Did you see my post yesterday where I told about my sister watching my 5-minute face tutorial? She was talking to her husband and mentioned that Rodan + Fields really does work and he commented back that he thought it was a “magical potion.” Lol!!! I told Joe the story and he said that he didn’t know if it was a magical potion or snake oil but all he knows is that the stuff really works. So, if you are interested in getting your own “magical potion” or even some “snake oil” then go here to take the Solutions Tool and see what the site recommends. Don’t you just love husbands???

Snake oil?? You have to love how the guys can put a masculine spin on anything.
I like the top…. on you! I know I would be uncomfortable in it, however, you have advised us to step outside the box and try new things. I would have to start be trying it first in a dressing room 🙂
Love the print of the top, but I am not a fan of the cutout!. When I first saw the photo i thought it was a dress! I like the color of them, just not with the top. I think a darker color would look better. Bottom line you look great despite my opinion!!
This time of year with the weather changing it’s a killer when the alarm goes off and it’s still dark out! I usually pop right up, but find myself moaning about having to get up!!?? The minute I’m up, I automatically make my bed and move on. Have a great day!!!
Not a fan of this top. The cutouts throw my off. If it had solid sleeves it would be a winner for me. I do like the pants. I agree with you…why settle?! Best…Kathy
Love the print.
I’m not a fan of the top either. The cut outs and cold shoulders are too much. The colors are beautiful though. You can also see your “pit boobs” which is a bad sign (that’s the arm skin that hangs out when sleeveless is cut to loose ?,) love the pants and shoes!! And of course your beautiful smile!
There are certain details of your top that I like. The neckline is interesting and I think it’s adorable, as well as the shoulder cut outs and pretty detail print. However, the actual length is off on you, and probably most women that aren’t 6’ tall or taller. It borders as a mini dress so any type of pant other than a legging only adds bulk and weight to your figure. The sleeves don’t help with the whole look as they tend to add volumn as well. I would consider a jean type Capri legging with flats or a legging with some knee boots.
Try the top with a burgundy skinny pant maybe or whatever the color is going down the front. A darker pant maybe? White pants?
If you do not love it, you will not reach for it.?. At least I do not.
You are always beautiful.?
Love the colors of the top. The colors are great on you. I can see why you are unsure about keeeping it though – the cold shoulder, the spaghetti straps and the funky strap across the upper chest are a bit much all together. A different style blouse with the same colors would be better.
Love the print, just not the neckline( too much going on.)
I agree. The horizontal piece of fabric looks a little odd. This piece makes the top too busy.
Agreeing with Cheryl (and you); the colors and print are great but something about that neckline/shoulder area seems off. The width of the sleeves and body area of the top aren’t in balance with all the cut out details. Thanks for being the blogger who lets us see the ‘misses’ as well as the ‘hits’ !
I think your top looks great. The autumn colours are fabulous. Do you think it is because it is a cold shoulder style that you are not too keen on it ? It does look lovely but maybe the strap going over the shoulder is a bit too minimal for the time of year. Any way the top has a thumbs up from me x
I like the pattern and the colors but not a fan of the way the top “cut out” looks
I agree with Elizabeth. Find something else you like better.
