50 IS NOT OLD | GRAY OR GREYI have often wondered about the spelling of gray. I always spelled it with an “a”, but I have seen it spelled with an “e” also. So, I did what everybody does now, I googled it. According to what I found, the American spelling is gray, and the English version is Grey. That is not nearly as complicated as I had imagined it would be. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | GRAY OR GREYWhy was I wondering about the spelling of gray? I received a comment for a reader from the UK, about how gray and lavender is the only colors they wear over there. I don’t have a lot of lavender in my wardrobe, but I do have some gray pieces, so I decided to style a few days clothing around the color gray.50 IS NOT OLD | GRAY OR GREYToday’s outfit might be stretching it just a little, but I consider the pants a dark gray. Or at the very least, a gray/black. My top has charcoal streaks running through it and hints of lavender, so I think this counts. Let’s start with the top. It is by Violet + Claire, and I probably purchased the top from TJ Maxx. The colors are soft and muted, a very feminine look.

The Posse is like an Ipsy box, it is a monthly subscription ($25.00) that can be cancelled at any time, and they send you a monthly item. I have worn last months item, but I didn’t get a picture of it. This months item is the mint double strand necklace with the lavender tassel. It also came with the matching earrings, which are the ame color as the bright coral drop. If you like surprises, this is for you! Haha50 IS NOT OLD | GRAY OR GREYI have five different bangles from Plunder. I like to layer them, and I love the effect. Each one has a saying on a tag, and each has a little charm that is attached. When worn all together, there is a bohemian look to these, but you can of course just wear one. But, where is the fun in that??? I am slowly working my way toward having all the different bangles that are offered, I think I only like 2 more. Here are the ones I have, Bobby, Frances, Halsey,  Odette, and Skye.50 IS NOT OLD | GRAY OR GREYThe other bracelet I have on, is the feather and pearl. You are probably sick of seeing me wear this one, but it goes with almost everything. Since the metal is the same color as the bangles, I grabbed it to put on. The earrings are called the Mint Filigree. I don’t usually mention my earrings, but this pair really stands out against my hair. The easiest way to purchase from Plunder through me, is to type in the URL line, www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens  That will take you to my boutique, and it should say you are shopping with Tania Stephens to the right. 50 IS NOT OLD | GRAY OR GREYYou can see the length of the top in this shot. It is not a high low, but it is plenty long. It does not cover the entire bummy, but it covers for the most part.50 IS NOT OLD | GRAY OR GREYMy pants are by Karen Kane. They have a denim cross hatch design in the material. The waist band is elastic, and they have a side zipper. I’ve had this pair for a few years, but any dark color ankle pant would work for this look. I put on my really old and worn out shoes from Maurices because of the green accents throughout the outfit. It just ties everything in together, and the same goes for the Vera Bradley tote. The hot pink in the tote goes with the pinks in the top. This is the little details that make an outfit appealing to the eyes. Everything flows together.

  1. I love the way you style yourself. Very attractive and age appropriate. I did want to ask why you pretty much always wear a crop pant. I always thought that shortened our legs.

I’ve also wondered if it was grey or gray and have used them interchangeably. Love the outfit-so pretty!

  3. Love the colors in the top. I say “gray”.

  4. I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your blog! I will be 45 in a couple of months and had been searching for a “style” that felt like me: age appropriate but not old-ladyish or boring. I don’t want to look like I’m trying to be 20 again! (Not a good look?), and you are the perfect solution! Classy but not stuffy, with close attention to detail. You just look so put-together, exactly how I want to present myself. I even signed up as a Plunder stylist, after learning about it from your blog, and I can’t wait for my mail-lady to deliver my kit today!
Thanks for being YOU and sharing yourself with all of us.
PS I allow think Peyton Manning is wonderful ?My puppy’s name is officially Lefty, but I usually just call him Archie Manning, because I have so much respect for their family and I love the name! Also I’m hoping Lefty step up his behavior to live up to his name (he’s a typical puppy, full of mischief.)

    1. I love that beautiful top, the length and cut of the trousers and those cute grey flatties. This is a really spot-on outfit which suits a myriad of occasions. Super!

  5. Look forward to seeing your posts on Facebook. I love that your outfits are doable and my style.

    gorgeous, gorgeous.

  7. Thanks for keeping your blog real and affordable. I like how you reference old navy and TJ Maxx which are both very affordable stores. As I was going through my closet this summer, I was thinking about different options to wear some old clothing that I really still liked, but didn’t want to get rid of. You do a great job of mixing your favorite pieces together whether they are something you have had forever or something new. I have also been reorganizing my jewelry. Do you have any organizing tips for necklaces? You look fabulous as Always??

I am Canadian and we spell it grey. Your outfit today is really pretty.

  9. Sally Bauman says:

So that explains the Grey/Gray spelling…I am Canadian and spell alot of words with a “U” like honour & flavour…another English thing…btw really enjoy your blog and your style 🙂

  10. Tania,
I just started following you and love how you keep things in the affordable range and also how you mix in things you’ve had for a while. So many bloggers start getting freebies for advertising their items and all of a sudden they are out of my price range. Not all of us can shop at Nordstrom and other higher priced stores. Hope you keep referring to TJ Maxx and some items you e had for years. Love what I’m seeing!! Thank you!! ~Dorian

    1. Hi Dorian,
I’ve worked at Nordstrom for 10 years and I must say, I’ve never seen our prices so low. Come on in and check out the clearance racks. We have tops that were 48.00-58.00 marked down as low as 18.90 and you get great quality clothes. Yes, there are those departments with higher prices but you will find great prices in the Point Of View Department. This dept is for the middle age women.

  11. Love the outfit. Would be a great one for early fall when the days are still hot. PS–I love gray, too?

  12. I also love this outfit on you!! it’s very slimming. not that you need any help with that because you always look fab but this particular outfit really does that for you. maybe it’s the cut of the pants? love it

    Hi Tania,
I joined the Plunder Posse yesterday and so excited…such an awesome treat each month!! 🙂

    1. It is like Christmas! Haha

  14. I have always been confused by gray or grey, too, so thanks for the education. Now I know either is acceptable!

Great color combination today. I don’t wear much gray but have pair of pants to wear in the fall. Good staple for work. Next time, I will pair it with mint since I own a lot of that color. Really nice necklace, too.

    Have a great day.

      1. It is weird Audrey. I have called them about the problem. You cannot click on the link, it will default to “their” page, you actually have to manually type in the address yourself. Or, you can type my stylist number (241007) in the box when you go to checkout. If you buy something, and are not sure that it went to my page, just let me know. I can call them and they will switch it to me. I hope they fix the glitch in the website, it is aggravating.

  15. Beautiful colors on you.

  16. You look gorgeous! I find your blog so refreshing and down to earth !

  17. Whilst I love all of your outfits, this is the type of thing I wear day to day since I retired. Everything about it is fab from head to toe! I wear a lot of grey, dark charcoal shades and light silvery ones too. I find it less harsh than black.
