WHAT IS THE ONE ITEM YOU MUST HAVE FOR SUMMER
Mother Nature decided to play a trick on all of us here in the South. We have been enjoying warm temperatures, and I even went with 2 of my grandchildren to the park to let them play. They were wearing shorts, I was in short sleeves, and their mother was in a tank top. The very next day, on my way to Abingdon, I watched snow flurries dance around on my windshield. Not funny, Mother Nature, not funny at all!!!
Even though Mother Nature reminded me that it isn’t Summer yet, I still got to enjoy the sunshine and managed to get a few photos taken without freezing my tail off. That cold spell has already left, and tomorrow it is forecasted to be back up in the 80s again, so I guess “I” got the last laugh.
I am glad that so many of you enjoyed yesterday’s sneaker post. That post was a lot of work, but I enjoyed bringing all of you different styles and giving you a heads up on how they run for sizing. I know how frustrating it is to order something, and then the item does not fit. So, if I can help cut down on your frustration level, I am happy to help.
Yesterday, I brought you one of the essential items for spring and summer…the sneaker. Today, I am bringing you another essential item…a pair of white pants. In fact, you don’t want to stop with white pants; you need a white pair of jeans, shorts, a dress, a skirt, a jean jacket, a cardigan, and a blazer. That post might have to wait for another time, but today, let’s talk about 3 tops and 1 pair of pants.
I love this blue and white striped sweater. It looks nautical and ready to set sail on my yacht, which I don’t have. Blue and white are a classic combination and look great with my white pants. This sweater would also look great with a pair of navy sailor pants or a pair of jeans.
I ordered a medium in this sweater, and I feel like it is plenty big for me and doesn’t show my rolls. This is a classically styled sweater, and it is soft and comfy for an everyday look.
When I saw this cute pair of white leggings, I thought that they were by Lily Pulitzer. The scalloped edging is so playful and feminine looking. The leggings are a pull-on style with faux front pockets that helps the front to lay flat. I had never tried this brand before, so I sized up like I try to do when wearing white pants and ordered a size large. I am glad that I did because a medium would have been way too tight.
This watercolor-looking ruffled-neck top is beautiful in different shades of blue. When I ordered the top, I thought it would be brighter and lighter in color, more like turquoise. I love cobalt blue, so this color worked for me as well.
I wasn’t sure about the sizing for this top, so I ordered a medium and a large to see which size would fit the best. When I tried on the medium, I felt like I was being strangled. I prefer a v-neck or scoop neckline, and the ruffled neckline was too tight for comfort. However, once I put on the large top, the collar was fine for me.
I wanted you to see the length of the top in the back, so hopefully, this side view will give you a better idea. It is long enough to cover my rear in these leggings, and that is a good thing.
This Dooney & Bourke crossbody handbag is a great bag for summer. It is a smaller handbag, but it is plenty big enough to carry your essential items. Handbags are trending smaller and smaller this year, and I saw some today when I was out shopping that looked like they were made for my granddaughter.
I love the white and tan color combination in this bag, and it is a great neutral that will go with any outfit. I especially love pairing it with my Tory Burch ballet flats that I’ve worn and worn and worn. I hate spending a lot of money on clothing and shoes, but I have found that I tend to wear those items the most. I don’t know if it is because I like them so much better or if it is because I want to make sure that I get my money’s worth by wearing them over and over again.
This ombre print top is from a new retailer that I am trying. I resolved to try more brands and retailers this year and break free of my rut. There are many brands out there, and how do we know if we like them if we don’t try them?
This is from Social Threads, and they have a lot of styles that I like. This oversized top caught my eye immediately because I love the relaxed style and the ombre colors. I bought this top with the idea of wearing it with jeans, shorts, and a bathing suit coverup, but white pants look great with it also.
Did you notice that I had on fuzzy house slippers? Lol! I had been wearing the slippers inside the house and forgot to change into my shoes when I went out to take photos. It was only after I had taken several photos that I noticed that I needed to change my shoes. But hey, they at least match my top! Lol! I ordered an XL in these slippers since I wear a size 9. They are fabulous, and they will make a great Mother’s Day gift for yourself, your mom, or your daughter or daughter-in-law.
Because the top is so oversized, I think that it looks great tied in the front. Tying the top in front gives it a playful look and keeps the top from looking big and boxy. I am wearing a size medium in the top, and you can see that it is still very large.
Here is a closer look at the pattern and color of the button-up shirt. The top is very soft and flowy, and it is 100% Rayon.
The jewelry that I am wearing with all of the tops is: Rylan earrings, Gold Vermeil Cross pendant and 18″ chain, the Natalie Bangle Bracelet, and the Rebecca Stretch Bracelet in White Howlite.
I was having fun trying to find places to take photos at my new house. I kept looking at this wall, thinking, “I sure hope a lizard doesn’t crawl out of these blocks.” Thankfully, I didn’t break my neck trying to escape a blue-tailed lizard. Lol!
You might think this was a blogger pose, but it was a “get you butt back up here in the yard” pose as I was yelling at the dog. Lol! She is also acclimating herself to the new surroundings, and Joe found her wandering out in the road the other day. Needless to say, she is not allowed out of my sight anymore.
I am so happy that you gurls have gone along with me on my journey, and if you have any suggestions for upcoming posts, be sure to leave a comment for me.

Tania, I love all of those tops w the cute leggings! I was all set to order the ruffle neck sleeveless one but no Mediums available! 😩 Would you consider a post showing your new house, outside and in? I didn’t know you’d moved but it looks lovely! I’d love to see all of it! And where is it?
And don’t forget that we still have “Blackberry Winter” to go before we can put the cold weather away for awhile!
All of the outfits look great on you. I love the cropped leggings. The “blue” shirts are right up my alley. I especially like the big shirt.
I love the curvy details on the white pants–very chic!
You look super cute in the leggings! I especially love the photo with the ombre print top. Your new home is so very beautiful and it’s nice to see you showing photos from there.
