WEARING PLAID

50 IS NOT OLD | WEARING PLAIDI have heard people say that you can’t wear black and brown together. I am still amazed at why these rules were ever made, who followed them, and why it really matters to anyone what I pair together. Let’s be honest, if I wear orange and green together who does it really hurt? If you see me coming in colors that offend you then close your eyes for a few minutes and it will be alright. Lol! I think we are just too judgemental. If you like something then you should wear it, and if you don’t like something just don’t wear that. Problem solved. Haha!50 IS NOT OLD | WEARING PLAIDThat sounded a little harsh and I didn’t mean to sound that way. I just hate when “fashion guru’s” tell anyone what they should wear. I think you should lead by example. Instead of telling me what I shouldn’t wear why don’t you simply show me examples of what you approve of. I am perfectly capable of looking at pictures and deciding if I like the look. This is the same as what you do on my blog. I know that every outfit I wear is not a winner. I like some looks better than others and I am sure you feel the same way. I don’t intend to tell you how to dress, I just want to show you examples of how I dress. You should pick out the bits and pieces from my outfits and see what you like and can replicate. Days you don’t like my look, just check back in the next day for a different look. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | WEARING PLAIDWhat is the first thing you noticed about my outfit? I am going to just take a wild guess and go with the plaid wrap. I love plaid and this is gorgeous. This was a Christmas present from my Mom. We don’t exchange gifts anymore instead we all decided to draw names this year and keep the gifts around $20.00. My Mom was not happy at the thought of getting my name. I can’t imagine why she was stressed, I love everything. She says I “have” everything. Lol! I think she did a pretty good job.

50 IS NOT OLD | WEARING PLAID I choose to wear a black turtleneck top from Old Navy that I bought last year. I bought a black, light gray, dark gray, and a cranberry one all at the same time. I could have chosen either of those to wear with this wrap. I chose the black one and meant to grab my cranberry purse to carry but I forgot. Typical!!!

50 IS NOT OLD | WEARING PLAIDI was trying to decide how best to wear the wrap. I ended up wearing it just draping down both sides. Since the outfit was blah without any jewelry, I added this month’s Plunder Posse to the top and that really helped the look. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture with the necklace but I wore the same necklace that I wore with this outfit.50 IS NOT OLD | WEARING PLAIDThe caramel pants are the Harper from Old Navy. This clothing line runs larger than the Pixie Pants. I really like the Pixies better because the Harper almost always ends up stretching and looking too big on me before the day is out. Look at the knees already and I hadn’t even gotten to work yet. They looked pretty rough by the end of the day.

50 IS NOT OLD | WEARING PLAIDThe black leather knee boots are Bandolino. I didn’t like these boots when I bought them but I “needed” a pair of plain black boots and these were a good deal. Wouldn’t you know it, I think I have worn these boots waaaaay more than I ever expected. Lol! That just shows you what I know. Haha!

NOW, I want to tell you a little something about Plunder Design. It is a wonderful, inspirational company. They have great jewelry that is hypoallergenic and nickel-free. Plunder is having a business opportunity drive in January. Joining Plunder is 99.00 and you normally receive 10 pieces of jewelry BUT this month they are adding 3 more pieces to the signup kit. When you think of it, 99.00 is not a huge amount of money for starting your own business but I want to make it even easier. If you join Plunder with me, I will offer to pay half of your kit back to you. If you are interested, then email me for the details at regarding this incentive at fiftyisnotold@gmail.com.

For those new to my blog, let me tell you why I am a part of Rodan and Fields. AGE SPOTS!!! I hate them, expecially when they are on my face. I started R & F to try to get rid of the nasty reminders of my careless suntanning youth. After the first month I could start to tell a difference and by month two I knew I would be signing up. I only signed up to get the discount and I never meant to sell R & F. HOWEVER, you gurls kept telling me that I was glowing. What was I doing different? So, I decided not to keep the information all to myself and I now share my journey with you. Joining Rodan and Fields has three levels you can join at. If you join me in my business with at least the 395.00 kit, I will also offer to reimburse you half of your kit back to you. You could start a business and only have 200.00 invested, email me for the special details at fiftyisnotold@gmail.com Since Plunder decided to give an incentive to those signing up this month, I will give one for R & F too. For those of you who only want to signup to get the discount, if you signup with the 395.00 kit then I will refund you 50.00, the 695.00 kit will get you a 75.00 refund, and the 995.00 kit will get you a 100.00 refund. I have a goal of signing up one new consultant a month and I hope that is you.

Part of my 2017 goals is to grow my subscriber list on the blog. If you are not a subscriber PLEASE take the time to sign. Also, if you would like to share my posts on Facebook or Twitter, I would appreciate that. It helps get my blog out to more people, and I am sure you just want to spread the entertaining sayings I have. Lol!

  1. The outfit looks lovely, I think because the brown is a nice caramel colour, not sure about a very dark brown.

  2. Very nice outfit especially the wrap! Regarding “the rules”, I think they’re a hold over from the days when women couldn’t leave the house without a hat and gloves .(Oh how I loved my mother’s glove drawer!) Your shoes and purse had to match, pink and red clashed, etc etc. Back before it was OK to wear pants anywhere you wanted. I don’t know if those rules were supposed to make it easier to get dressed or designed to regulate and stifle freedom but boy, I sure am glad we don’t have to adhere to them anymore! Currently I’m in love with navy and black.

  3. You are way to hard of yourself- Kudos to you for even writing a blog everyday for all of us to enjoy. We all have different tastes that is what makes the world go around – Love the scarf my step daughter bought me one also. Don’t ever stop being your laughing self.

  4. Love this wrap!!! Actually I have one very similar in my closet!!!! And you look gorgeous as usual! I love your attitude toward fasion and color- some things work and some things dont!!!! It’s ok, there is always tomorrow!!

  5. I remember when they used to say to not wear black and navy and now all the “experts” are designing those colors! Plus, I see shoes that are black and brown so luckily all those “rules” are going out the window, especially for someone like me who is the exact opposite of the models (short, big-busted, apple-shaped) who they design for so the rules never worked for someone with my shape.

I agree with you especially when “they” say short people shouldn’t wear this or that!! I think they don’t know what they are talking about because I’m pretty darn sure that it’s the style & fit that makes a difference!!
And colors? Pretty much any two colors can work together!! It’s fun to mix it up and be a rebel!!

I love this look and have the perfect sweater and pair of pants for it. Now I just need to find my blanket scarf! I love that you buck the “guru” advice and wear what you like. I especially like that you give us permission to do it too!

  8. I’ve always worn that combination. Black and brown, black & tan, black and cream. I think it’s a classic look.

  9. Black and brown are my favorites! Love the ideas you bring. Have a great day!
