Happy Saturday! I am thrilled that you are going to spend part of your weekend with me. Today, I want to show you a t-shirt dress that I wore to my granddaughter’s recital last night, but I’ll also give you some other ways that you can style this simple and cute look.
A t-shirt dress is a must-have; take my word on that. They are like wearing a nightgown around all day long, but you won’t be getting strange looks from people walking down the street. As the name implies, these dresses are made from t-shirt material, so they are very comfortable. But, all t-shirts are not made alike, and neither are t-shirt dresses. Some will be of higher quality, which means they will probably be made from thicker material. Also, some t-shirt dresses might have a tie-front waist or a small difference like that, but all of them can usually be worn either dressed up or casually.
The way that I am styling my short sleeve t-shirt dress today is semi-dressy. The dress is chic and classy all by itself. This is a lightweight dress and is on the thin side. However, it is not see-through, so it is a great summer dress for hot weather. The material is cotton, and cotton is great for keeping you cool. I am wearing a size large, and you can see that it is plenty big on me. I think that I actually needed a medium dress instead. The dress is under $20.00, another one in a different color.
The dress hits me right above the knee, and it is a great length. Here is the view from the back, and you can see that there is no back fat showing. Lol!
I am wearing the dress semi-dressy because of the dance recital. So I added this adorable bone-colored pouch bag that is adorable! You can wear this bag as a crossbody or tuck the straps like I did and carry it as a clutch. I love the size of this bag, and it has plenty of room to carry all of your essential items. Also, it is not leather, so it is very affordable and under $40.00.
The Kendra Scott Masie open frame earrings look fabulous with this dress. The turquoise of the dress matches the paracord of the earrings and the Masie Friendship Bracelet. I added two Rebecca stretch bracelets in white howlite and variegated turquoise. My necklace is Kendra Scott also, but I couldn’t find it online.
BTW, my lip stain is by Chanel, and the color that I am wearing is called Radiant Pink. I love this lip stain; it stays on all day long, and it has a clear gloss on the other end of the tube.
If there is such a thing as an elevated flip-flop, this is it! This ivory shoe features the new trend – the square toe. The straps are also unique since they are intertwined for a nice detail. They are actually comfortable, but it took me several hours to get used to the straps. I put on a pair of sandals for the first time this year with the strap between my toes, and they bugged me for hours. I hate the “breaking” in period that I go through each year. I am wearing my usual size 9, and they fit great.
A more casual version of this dress would have been a simple earring like the Easton geometric hoops. Plus, I would have added a pair of sneakers like my Keds platform sneakers or my Sperry Crest Vibe sneakers. I love wearing t-shirt dresses with sneakers!
Emersyn did great at her recital, and I took a video that I’ll try and share on my Instagram stories. I haven’t watched it yet, so I might have been so far off that you couldn’t see her very well. If you aren’t following me on Instagram, then I encourage you to do that today. Here is an Instagram tutorial that will help you get started.
