Walmart Fall Decor That Looks Much More Expensive Than It Is
Can you do a fall decor try-on? Lol! I found pumpkins, mushrooms, candles, Halloween decorations, pillows, dishes, and enough warm brown and amber tones to make me start thinking about sweaters even though the weather hasn’t gotten the memo yet.
Instead of simply taking photos, I recorded short videos so you could get a better look at the size, texture, color, and details of everything. I think video is especially helpful with home decor because a product photo doesn’t always tell you what something is really going to look like sitting on your table or shelf.
I didn’t bring every one of these pieces home, so I’m not going to tell you I’ve personally used them. These are Walmart fall decor items that look way more expensive than they are. I liked some more than others, and a few definitely caught my eye once I saw them up close.
But here is the kicker: these will sell out quickly. I’m crossing my fingers that they are still in stock online since the stores get so picked over.
Warm and Natural Walmart Fall Decor
The biggest thing I noticed this year was how much fall decor isn’t bright orange. There were lots of warm woods, cream, brown, black, gold, amber, and textured finishes. That’s good news if you want your house to feel like fall without turning it into a pumpkin patch.
Wood and Gold Mushrooms
Let’s start with these mushrooms because they immediately caught my attention. I started using mushrooms in my home decor about 40 years ago when my sister bought me one for Christmas. They come in two sizes: the small one is 3.75″, and the taller one is 8.25″. The wood base keeps them warm and natural, while the metallic tops give them a little shine.
Mushrooms have been showing up in decor for a while, but these don’t feel too whimsical or cutesy. I could see a couple of these mixed into a fall arrangement on a console table, bookshelf, or coffee table with some greenery and a candle.
They’re also one of those pieces you could leave out longer than something that says FALL in six-inch letters. Lol!
Chunky Carved Wood Pumpkin
Here’s a cute wood pumpkin with a metal stem, and I love all of the dimension and chunkier shape.
That’s one reason I wanted to show these pieces on video. You can see the wood grain and shape much better than you could in a little product image online.
I like mixing different finishes when I decorate rather than buying five pumpkins that all match. A wood pumpkin beside a glass or fabric one looks much more collected.
Embroidered Neutral Pumpkin
Now THIS is a pretty pumpkin. The etching gives it so much texture, and the neutral color keeps it from feeling overly seasonal. If your home leans toward cream, beige, brown, or other warm neutrals, this would blend in beautifully.
This 8″ Etched Leaf Resin Pumpkin is the kind of fall decor I prefer because you notice the details when you get closer instead of the piece screaming at you from across the room.
Cream Embossed Pumpkins
These cream pumpkins have an embossed leaf and vine design that makes them look more decorative than a plain ceramic pumpkin. There are two sizes: a smaller 7″ one, and a taller 10″ one.
I could see one of these on a dining table or entryway table where you want something a little prettier. Since they’re cream instead of orange, you could add practically any color around them: rust, olive, burgundy, brown, or even blue.
I also like that you can see the raised pattern much better in the video.
Amber Glass Pumpkin
Amber glass and fall were made for each other. This little Dark Brown Tortoiseshell Glass Pumpkin Jar Candle would look beautiful sitting on a hall table or bookshelf. I will probably use this with my candle warmer and leave the top stem sitting next to it.
Walmart Halloween Decor
I know some of you decorate for fall and Halloween separately, while others want nothing to do with spiders, ghosts, and things staring at you from the mantel. Lol!
Walmart had quite a few Halloween pieces, and several of these were much more stylish than I expected.
Black and Gold Spider Web Pumpkins
Here’s where fall decor starts getting a little more dramatic.
These black pumpkins with the gold spider web detailing would be beautiful if you decorate for Halloween or want something that feels a little dressier. The shorter one is 5″, and the taller one is 7″.
Black is also surprisingly easy to mix with fall decor. Put it next to warm wood, amber glass, or brass, and it instantly gives the arrangement more depth.
Black Wire Light-Up Halloween Decor
These black wire decorations caught my eye because of the light inside. It’s definitely Halloween, but it doesn’t have a bunch of bright purple and neon green mixed in.
If you prefer Halloween decor that’s a little more grown-up, sticking with black and warm light is an easy way to do it. The shorter one is 9″ tall, and the taller one is 11″ tall. These would be perfect sitting on your porch Halloween night.
Black Jack-O’-Lanterns
These black jack-o’-lanterns would be cute on a porch, hearth, or even tucked beside a basket indoors. The black finish makes it feel different from the traditional orange plastic pumpkins most of us have seen about a million times. The tall one is 13″, and the shorter one is 9″.
I ended up buying 2 of each of these, and I plan on putting them on my steps for Halloween. Now that I think of it, I probably need at least 2 more sets. No worries, I just ordered them, and they were delivered in a flash! Lol!
Black Halloween Cauldron
Of course, you can’t have Halloween without a cauldron somewhere. 😂
This could be cute filled with wrapped candy by the front door, but you could also use it as part of a porch display. I always like decor that’s cute but can still do a job.
Joe and I sit at a table to hand out candy. I’ll put this cauldron on the table to hold some of the smaller candy pieces.
Spooky Framed Raven Artwork
This framed raven picture is my favorite find! Sure, the spooky raven photo is cute, but I intend to replace the photo with my six little “spooks,” also known as my grandchildren. Lol! They only had 2 left in the store, so I ordered 4 more online once I got home. I can hardly wait to insert a black-and-white photo of each of my babies.
Prop it on a bookshelf, place it on an entry table, or mix it in with a few pumpkins and you’re finished. It has that old-fashioned spooky look instead of being outright scary, which is much more my speed.
Fall Candles and Home Fragrance
Even if you don’t decorate much for fall, changing your home fragrance is probably the easiest way to make the house feel different.
Of course, scent is very personal. Something I love might make you open every window in the house five minutes later, so I always recommend smelling candles and fragrances yourself when possible.
Better Homes & Gardens Farm Apple Pumpkin Candle
The label on this one got me immediately: Farm Apple Pumpkin Candle. Apple and pumpkin are two classic fall scents, and I always think candles are one of the easiest seasonal updates because they don’t create more decorating clutter. Plus, when the candle is finished, fall is usually moving right along anyway.
This 5-wick candle is HUGE, and there are a lot of different scents to choose from.
Better Homes & Gardens Gold Leaf Aroma Accent
I thought this Better Homes & Gardens Aroma Accent was especially pretty because of the gold leaf design.
Instead of having a plain fragrance plug-in sticking out of the wall, this almost becomes a tiny piece of decor. The package I saw was the Sliced Red Apple and Cinnamon fragrance, which definitely puts it in the fall category.
If you use plug-in fragrance, this is an easy little seasonal switch.
Cozy Fall Pillows and Throws
This is probably the category that makes the biggest difference in a room with the least amount of effort.
Change a throw blanket and one or two pillows, and suddenly your sofa looks ready for fall. No pumpkin required.
Faux Fur Textured Throw
I love adding texture for fall, especially in lighter colors. These faux fur throws add that texture that makes it look warmer and cozier. This is also something you can use straight through winter, which makes it much more practical than an item you’ll put away in six weeks.
These look an awful lot like a way more expensive throw that I’m sure you have all seen before.
There are also faux full throw pillows that match the throws. Talk about creating a comfy and cozy nook.
Fall Dishes and Kitchen Finds
You don’t have to decorate an entire kitchen for fall. A few dishes, mugs, or serving pieces can change the look of an open shelf, coffee station, or table.
Fall Patterned Stoneware Platter
This stoneware floral platter has a pretty all-over fall pattern rather than one giant pumpkin sitting in the middle. That’s much more versatile because you could use them for a fall luncheon, Thanksgiving, or simply stack a few on an open shelf for decoration.
These are nice and heavy, and will hold a lot of food, making them perfect for Thanksgiving.
Stoneware Fall Mugs With Metal Rack
I believe coffee tastes better when the cup matches the season. Lol! I liked the floral pattern on these stoneware mugs, and the little rack keeps them together.
If you have a coffee station, swapping out a couple of mugs is one of the easiest ways to make it feel seasonal without buying ten different decorations.
Fall Decor That Doesn’t Have to Be Fall Decor
Some of my favorite finds weren’t technically covered in pumpkins at all.
If you want your home to feel warmer for fall, think about color, texture, and materials, not just seasonal symbols. Amber glass, woven baskets, darker pottery, and warm wood can do just as much as a pumpkin.
Tortoiseshell-Style Accent Lamp
This little tortoiseshell candle warmer immediately caught my eye because of that tortoiseshell-looking glass. The amber and brown tones are perfect for fall, but you could leave this out all year. I love adding small lamps to kitchens, bookshelves, and darker corners because they create such a cozy pool of light in the evening.
This is one of those pieces I’d consider even if I weren’t shopping specifically for fall decor.
Checkerboard Planters
These checkerboard ceramic planters are another example of something that isn’t really “fall decor,” but the neutral colors could work beautifully with a fall arrangement.
Add a plant, mums, or even faux branches, and suddenly they feel completely appropriate for the season. Then, when fall is over, change what’s inside and keep using the planter.
That’s my kind of decorating.
Woven Pedestal Planter or Basket
Finally, I spotted this woven pedestal planter piece, and I love the texture.
Natural woven materials instantly warm up a room, which makes them perfect for fall. You could use something like this for a plant or as part of a larger arrangement and then keep it out year-round.
If you’re trying to simplify your seasonal decorating, pieces like this are worth looking for because you’re not storing another bin of decorations eleven months from now.
My Favorite Way to Decorate for Fall Without Overdoing It
If I were refreshing a room for fall, I’d choose three types of pieces:
- Something obviously seasonal, like a pumpkin.
- Something cozy, like a throw or pillow.
- Something with warm texture or color that can stay out longer, like an amber lamp, woven basket, or wood accent.
That gives you the feeling of fall without making your house look like the seasonal aisle exploded in the living room.
I’d also mix finishes rather than buying an entire matching collection. Wood, glass, fabric, ceramic, and woven pieces together make a room feel much more natural.
Which Walmart Fall Decor Would You Choose?
I found quite a bit more at Walmart than I expected, but the warm wood pieces, textured pumpkins, amber glass, and cozy textiles were the things that appealed to me most.
I loved that little tortoiseshell-style lamp; it doesn’t even need fall as an excuse. If I didn’t already have a candle warmer, I would’ve brought it home with me.
Which direction do you prefer for fall decorating? Are you a warm neutrals and pretty pumpkins person, or are you already waiting to break out the black jack-o’-lanterns and Halloween decor?
Let me know which piece(s) from the videos were your favorite.
