VASELINE MATURE SKIN

You Gurls have all heard me complain about my dry skin, so when I was given the opportunity to do a “sponsored post” for Vaseline Mature Skin, you know I was thrilled. I have heard of the brand Vaseline all my life, and have even used some of their other lotions, but I was intrigued with the “mature” skin care line.

As much as I want to keep my attitude young and upbeat, my skin has a mind of its own. Dry, scaly, itchy, and just overall old-looking skin is not how I want to look. It isn’t like I haven’t tried to fix my skin, it is just nothing has really worked, so in typical Tania fashion, I just gave up.

I thought my dry skin was something I’d inherited and was that it was just something that I would have to live with. Come to find out the sun, bad habits, and even menopause are all culprits of dry skin. Everyone goes through menopause at a different time but somewhere between the ages of 40 – 60 you start losing estrogen. Estrogen has a lot of functions but one of them is to stimulate the production of skin smoothing collagens and oil. As estrogen declines so do the collagen levels leaving behind dry, itchy, flaky skin. Ahh, the joys of getting older.

Giving up is all well and good, but spring and summer will soon be here and it will be shorts-wearing weather once again. I was REALLY dreading showing my legs with all of the scales. The dry skin is especially noticeable on my legs when I apply sunless tanner, so I was excited at the hope of having smoother, moister legs.

I was concerned when I first received the product because I had read that it had a light fragrance. I have an aversion to most smells, they give me a headache. I’ve walked in the door of some stores only to have to turn around and walk right back out. Can anyone relate? However, the smell was light and did not bother me at all, it was actually quite pleasant! I started applying Vaseline Mature Skin lotion on my legs every morning after I got out of the shower (absorbs quickly and is nongreasy) and every night right before I went to bed. Honestly, I could tell the difference the first day I used it but I thought that it might absorb into my skin and then my legs would be back to looking dry. That didn’t happen! Instead, my legs are smoother, softer, and not dry at all. I even got out the magnifying glass to look at my skin just to see how good it looked. Lol! I looked online to see what was inside this stuff and found out it contains Vitamin B3 known to rebalance skin and PPAR Activators known to help improve skin appearance. I have NO idea what all that means, I just know it works! This is a picture of the first day I used the product. This is a picture after one week of use. Is that close enough for you or should I get out the magnifying glass? Ha!

I live in a small town and couldn’t find the product here locally so I ordered it from Walmart online. It was delivered in a couple of days, so just stay in your pajamas and shop here. The price is RIGHT and I couldn’t be happier. Grab your bottle and get ready for short-wearing season!

I will try this. Anything to help my dry, older skin. I use Neutrogena oil while I am still in the shower just before I towel dry. It has a light sesame oil fragrance. But not overpowering. I also have to be careful with smells as they can give me a migraine!

  2. Thanks for this suggestion on Vaseline! I have a couple of questions on your faux tanner…when do you start using it? Have you tried the R&F one? Just curious how it is compared to others out there. On the R&F, could the Restorative Night Cream work instead of using the nightly eye cream? Not sure why it can’t be put around the eye area if it’s all over your face anyway? Have you used it, and if so, do you like it? Thanks!

  3. Thank you Tania for letting your readers know about this amazing product. I too have used Vaseline products, however, I never knew about this one. You are so right about our skin drying out as we age. I look at my poor hideous feet…….I’m definitely going to get this for my feet before I start wearing my open-toed shoes, sandals and flip flops. ~Lisa~

  4. Thanks for info I’m going to give it a try. Hopefully I won’t have a problem. I have become overly sensitive to scents over the past several years. No more perfume and I often break out in a rash with scented lotions. You said this has a mild scent but not unscented right? My legs are so dry I’m going try it.

  5. I even used it on my face and it really works the cream ( I mean) . I used plain Vaseline on my lips in winter to nothing any better .

  6. Thanks I’m experiencing the same, and I try to be proactive, it’s nice to here from others with same problems , have a greatday

  7. I too have the dry mature skin. In December I was at my worst when I went to see my dermatologist for my annual screening. She recommended that I use a sugar body scrub in the shower. Omg!!!! What a difference in my skin! Baby soft…love it! Pinterest is full of recipes, but I usually just buy mine at Walmart, Target, or tj max. I really like the brand called SHEA MOUSTURE. I’ve tried all of their scents and love them all. Give body scrubs a chance and then maybe the lotion. By spring your tanning solutions will go on real smooth because your skin will be smoother.

  8. Vaseline is also great for your hands, at night.

  9. I’m going to get some of this. I have the same problem and took the same approach as you! I gave up! I have often thought the skin on my legs looks like dried out cake frosting. Maybe not that bad, but certainly not summer-worthy! Thank you for this review. I can get this locally and will start using it!
