VANILLA FOR THE WINTER AHEAD
I am afraid my ferns are on their last legs. I will freely admit that if a flower survives around me they have to be really hardy. I don’t baby them by giving them food or water. Lol! I do try to water them twice a week especially the one that is under the porch and gets no water. Emersyn likes for me to wait so that she can help me but I will usually sneak and give them a drink or two. My plants have to be part Camel. Lol!
I sweep away the falling leaves and by tomorrow morning it will look like this again. It is time to replace them with mums or pumpkins but I hate to give them up. They were a present from a blog reader, Charlcy, and I don’t like to let them go. I don’t want to take them in the house though, remember the no watering, they would make an even bigger mess in there. I tried that one year and that was a HUGE mistake. I kept the vacuum running almost constantly and I learned my lesson. I decided that it was easier just to buy new every year instead of me trying to torture them through the winter. Funny thing is that my mom is fantastic with indoor plants and they get HUGE and bloom all winter long. I must not have gotten her green thumb 🙁
I think this top looks sweet, innocent, and romantic. Joe and I have called this type look, “Rebecca of Donnybrook” for as long as I can remember. I mentioned that to Lucille and Energizer Bunny when we where in Charleston and they looked at me like I had grown three heads. I kept trying to explain to them about the term and finally, I decided to Google it. Turns out it is “Rebecca of Sunnybrook” and we have been saying it wrong for over 30 years. Lol!!! I bought this top when we went shopping at the outlets from Ann Taylor along with a few other items. I liked this top because it had the romantic vibe and also because I knew that it was going to look good with several winter colors. I can add a jacket or cardigan and wear this well in the fall and winter months. I can’t wait to see it with my wine or mushroom pants, it will look completely different.
I think pearls are classic AND romantic so they were the perfect choice for this outfit. I “think” I have on the Mera earrings but I forgot to show them so I am not sure. They are what I would pick if I had the choice right now. Lol! I have on the Lottie and the Jane necklaces. The Lottie is multiple strands of pearls and the Jane is a long pearl/chain necklace that can be used as a lanyard because it has a lobster claw on the end of the LARGE pearl. I attached an Allison Monogram Pendant to the Jane necklace. The pearl and gold bracelet is the Stephanie. I should remember this because that is my DIL’s name. I may have to get her that for Christmas.
I did a really bad job of photographing these shoes and I apologize. These are really quite cute but I guess you will have to take my word for it. Lol! The color is what I really love, it is such a light fawn color. The suede lace-up block heel sandals are by Marc Fisher and if you go here then you can see a good picture of them. They are on sale too, so that is a win win!!!
These jeans are perfect! I love the color that I refer to as Winter White. When I was searching for the jeans though I saw that someone referred to this color as Vanilla and I like that way better. Henceforth these pants will be known as Vanilla!!! I bought them at the same time as the top from Ann Taylor. Because I bought them at an outlet store they are not on the website. I am not sure what that means but I am fine with that. There are plenty of other stores that carry “Vanilla” colored jeans. These color just seems to work better for the fall and winter months and is not so stark as a pair of white ones.
Remember the scepter that I showed you that I won from Plunder Design? You can read about it here if you missed that post. Someone commented that I might need to hide that from Emersyn or I would “lose” it………
Too late! Little Miss Emersyn came over and spotted it first thing. She kept asking me for my crown. “Don’t you have a crown, Nee Nee to go with this wand?” Guess who left with my wand AND my tiara. How could I say no to THAT face? Just look how excited she was. Lol!
We have winners of 3 Mini Facials!!! Diane, Rhonda, and Dee. If that is your name then watch and see if you get an email from me. I will need your mailing addresses.
If you didn’t win a mini facial, don’t despair. The NEW Intensive Serum will be available for purchase on Wednesday!!! I have already started using it, the perks of being a consultant, and I am really liking it. The NEW AMP roller is da bomb!!! Lol! Do people still say that??? Anyway, if you are interested in this system then message me and let me know.
If you are interested in the perks of being a consultant I’ll schedule a time when we can talk. Be ready to sit for awhile because I get chatty when I am talking about the company and the products. I can’t help it, I just love this company and I start gushing. Lol! I talked to Mary Beth yesterday and I am pretty sure she is still laughing at some of my southern slang.
Have you ever wondered why I would ask you to sign up for my email subscription? I know that you may access me from another way like FaceBook or Instagram but “brands” like to see a large email subscription list. So, I am asking you to sign up if you don’t mind, it would really help me. The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day. Be sure to follow me on Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.

That top… oh my goodness. I’m in love!!
Maybe you should have your mom babysit your ferns for the winter. LOL O
Love this outfit, and love that big pearl! You look just gorgeous. My fern goes into my barn once it starts to die back and/or we are expecting a freeze. It stays in there all winter, and I only water it once or twice because it goes kind of dormant. After a really cold hard freeze, even in the barn, it will look almost completely dead, but when I bring it out in the warm sun next spring and start to water it, it comes back and after a couple months it’s big and glorious. Just a thought–I figure if it really dies it didn’t cost anything other than having to sweep up where it was sitting, so no biggie. I guess the next thing we’ll see on your porch will be a Christmas tree? It’s hard to believe that’s just around the corner!
Good afternoon! Although I am a little older than you (65) I still work full time and appreciate reading your posts and seeing your outfits. They have helped me to stretch my creative ideas when it comes to putting together outfits. Keep up the great work and I also love your spiritual side. Thank you
Love that top! Does your mom live near enough to you that you could give the ferns to her? Maybe she could keep them through the winter and give them back to you next spring…?
You look wonderful. I love that shade of lipstick! What is it?
Lol..I read that Donnybrook and was puzzled. I thought maybe you and Joe had a secret code, as couples sometimes have. Love the outfit, great winter colors.
I have those same jeans! I love them too and think the color is a nice soft alternative to white right now and have worn them several time on my blog. Comfortable waistband for my midlife middle and nice fabric that doesn’t show skin texture under it. Great minds think alike!

I love this outfit! It’s so “unexpected” for fall…but perfect! The jewelry accents the vanilla theme perfectly! I love your hair as well…the cut and color is very pretty.
Thanks, Laurie. I have been having a hard time with my hair after my last cut. I think she forgot to thin it and it is too heavy. When it gets heavy it starts to look flat.
I love this look! The “vanilla” is beautiful. I’m adding it to my shopping list!
I love this vanilla color. It is soft and creamy but it doesn’t melt. Lol!
Love the outfit and can see I transitioning to booties and cardigan or blazer really easily. The shoes are great, you are costing me a lot of money Tania but I’ll forgive you because they are on sale, lol! Princess Emersyn is just so adorable! Not only she is growing up with a stylish GM to inspire her but she will also have wonderful memories to look back to. I loved visiting my grandma and playing dress up with her fur cape and jewelry box. Have a terrific day!…and yes, those poor mums need some miracle grow or a miracle!
I have great memories of my grandmother, too. Thanks for reminding me that I am making memories fro Miss Em!
