Today is Tuesday Try-On day, but before we get to the Haul For Fall, let me tell you about my visitor. I got the pleasure (insert sarcasm) of picking up trash after Yogi came to visit us last night. When you think about Yogi Bear, you think of a sweet, funny, and cuddly bear. But, the black bear who is roaming around in our neighborhood isn’t that sweet, funny, or cuddly. And, I am not sure why he is confusing my trashcan with a picnic basket. Lol! The last time that he came to visit me, he pulled out a bucket of slime, and that mess is still on my driveway and won’t come off. UGH!

I’ve not “seen” our neighborhood bear in person, but my son and DIL had seen him when he got in their trash. I would probably faint if I rounded the corner of my house and ran upon a bear. Lol! My daughter in Alaska is used to seeing bears and has even run them off of her porch. Our trash pickup was today, so my cans are now empty, and I hope the bear moves on down the road. When I brought the trashcans from the curb to the house, I moved them inside the pool fence. I told Joe that I was going to keep them inside the fence until winter, and the bear had gone into hibernation. His response, “awww, bears have to eat too. He’s not eating much.” Oh, My Word!!! I think that I’ll let HIM pick up after Yogi the next time. Lol!

I am dedicating this Tuesday’s Try On to “Haul For Fall.” Did you see yesterday’s post? It was packed full of great fall things, and today’s will show you several items that I just ordered in. So, I have several cute items that I think you will like. These items are not “styled” as I would wear them; I am only trying to “show” you the items so that you can see how they fit and look.

You are going to get the benefit of me ordering the clothing and making mistakes. Several of these items are way too big for me, and I am going to show you that later on in this post.

Several of these items have already had the tags ripped off and are now happily secure in my closet. Others had to bid me farewell since they were not a good fit.

While you are scrolling through the photos, try to guess what items stayed and what things had to go. There are times when I love the way something looks and fits, but I still send it back. I might already own four similar items, and I only have so much room, so even though I love it, it still has to leave.

I am wearing my Joe’s Honey Bootcut Jeans in a lot of these photos. I LOVE these jeans! I love the color, the fit, and the style of these jeans! I usually wear a size 10 (or a 30 if sized that way), but I ordered a pair of Joe’s Jeans before, and they were too small, so I sized up. I am happy that I sized up because they fit me perfectly. Little things like that are why I try new styles and stores for you. I want to save you the hassle of sending something back if I can. These jeans are more than I usually spend on jeans, but I would rather have this pair than two of my others. I love them that much!

I’ve learned that there are brands that I love, whether I am shopping on Nordstrom, Walmart, Target, or Amazon. Once I find a brand that I like, then I will filter to have that brand’s items show up first. This is the first time that I’ve tried something from Daily Ritual, but it won’t be the last time. I love the thickness and the quality of this Cozy Boucle Turtleneck Sweater, and I’ll be ordering more of these in other colors.

But, as you can see, I ordered the wrong size in this sweater. I never know if I will wear a medium or a large in a sweater. When I am ordering from a new brand, I will order up most of the time. In my mind, I would rather have something be a little loose on me than too tight. However, this is waaaay too big, so it is going back for a different size. This sweater comes in lots of different colors, so check it out to see if your size is in stock.

This was also my first time purchasing an item from Lark & Ro, so I had no idea how the sizing would run. I usually read the reviews, but those aren’t always reliable. I love the feel of the Georgette Long Sleeve Button Up Woven Top, and I think that this dotted print is so cute.

The top is lightweight, and it feels like heaven against your skin. I liked how the top looks dressy and can be worn for any occasion, but it also looks great with my jeans. This outfit would be what I call “dress casual.” Here is an idea of how the top looks when worn loose and un-tucked.

However, I ordered a large, and it is once again too big for me. I was afraid to order a medium because it was a button-up top, but a medium would have been the size I needed. This top comes in several colors, so check it out to see if anything strikes your fancy.

My, my, my, how I love this outfit! I’m not sure if there is anything about this outfit that I don’t like, except maybe the fact that I didn’t “fix” my hair today. Lol! I pulled it back with my headband to put on my makeup and decided to wear it like that. You’re supposed to be looking at the clothing anyway, so don’t pay any attention to my hair today.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a vibrant green v-neck sweater

This Viscose Blend Long Sleeve V-Neck Sweater is another Lark & Ro item. The sweater is practically perfect in every way, in my opinion. I love the material, the fit, and the style of this sweater. I ordered the Emerald green color, which is pretty vibrant, but online it looked much darker. I was thrilled once I saw the color of the sweater and much happier than I would have been if it had been darker. I ordered a large in this sweater, and I am glad that I did. It is stretchy, and it fits snug, so I wouldn’t have wanted it to have been any tighter. The sweater comes in several colors, and I think that I might order the cobalt and burgundy one also. These will be great to wear under a jacket or cardigan since the sweater is a fine knit.

You’ve seen me post photos of this Kattee leather handbag, but this is the first time that you’ve got to see me carry it. I am sure that you are like me, and you need to see how it looks, how big it is, etc., when someone has it on their arm. I was surprised when I got this bag in that it was as lovely, heavy, and big as it was for the price. You can say that I was skeptical when I saw the bag online, but I like it and have ordered two more bags from this brand to see if they are just as nice. I’ll be sure to let you know when they arrive later this week. This is a large size, but there is also an extra-large size that is only $4.00 more. Also, this bag comes in several different colors, and I am carrying the Sorrel color.

These Sam Edelman Suede Ankle Boots are happily at home in my closet! I am a sucker for a buckle on a bootie, and I love the tiny studs at the toe. The chunky heel and pointed toes are so modern and stylish looking. I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they fit me perfectly!

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a vibrant green v-neck sweater and navy pants

While I had the green sweater on, I decided to change pants and show you the navy Briggs Cigarette pants that I ordered. This was another brand that I was unfamiliar with, so I had no idea about sizing.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a navy pants and neutral colored heels

I liked the seam that runs down the center of the leg; that is a lovely style detail. The pants are a blend of rayon, nylon, and spandex, so they feel good while you are wearing them. They have a zipper and a hook bar closure, and they are machine washable; I ordered my usual size 10 in these, and they were too big. I didn’t even have to unlatch them to take them off, so I would suggest sizing down one size. These are a great “essentials” pair of dress pants, and they come in black and gray also. Since these were under $23.00, you can’t go wrong with these.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a vibrant green v-neck sweater, girlfriend crop jeans, and black pointy loafers

Remember, this is NOT the way that I would style these items if I were doing a photo shoot. Lol! I am just trying to show you as many items as possible in one photo.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing girlfriend crop jeans, and black pointy loafers

I didn’t listen to the reviews about sizing on these jeans, and I should have. Lol! These girlfriend ankle jeans fit me great everywhere EXCEPT through the waist. The website said that they ran small and to order up, but I ordered my usual size 10 in these jeans because girlfriend jeans can be baggy, and I’m not too fond of that look. However, I can’t stand the waist being so tight, so these had to go back. I loved the medium wash in these jeans, and I am debating on whether I should order them in size 12. Hmmm, decisions, decisions. Lol!

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing black pointy loafers

These Franco Sarto Leather Loafers are not my usual style of shoe. But, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and try a new style. These remind me of something that the Fonz would wear with the rolled-up ankle jeans and a white t-shirt. Lol! Or these also remind me of the shoes that the wicked witch had on when the house fell on her in the Wizard of Oz. How many of you are now dying to order these after that glowing description? Hahaha! These come in other colors, and I think that the Cognac Plaid version would look great for fall.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a vibrant green v-neck sweater with a navy puffer coat, girlfriend crop jeans, and black pointy loafers

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Joe is the coat person in my family. Well, it is Joe and my daughter, who are the coat people. Both of them have coats galore, but I don’t have very many. When it snows, I usually grab one of their coats since most of mine are dress coats or mid-weight jackets.

But that stops TODAY! I love this puffer coat from Daily Ritual, and it is already tucked away in my closet, just waiting for the snow to start falling. This Long Water-Resistant Primaloft Puffer Jacket is made with PrimaLoft polyester fiberfill that wraps you in lofty warmth while a proprietary water-resistant finish keeps you dry. My daughter would insist on water-proof instead of water-resistant, but I don’t live in a climate where it rains or snows every day, so water-resistant will be sufficient for me.

The hardware is sturdy, and I like the longer length of this jacket. The Primaloft Filling sure works excellent since I was roasting in this jacket, but the 80-degree weather might have had something to do with that also. Lol! I like that the hood is detachable and that the coat is machine-washable. I ordered a large so that it would fit over a sweater in the winter, and I think that it fits me GREAT! I am very pleased with the coat. I ordered the navy, but the coat also comes in gray and black.Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a vibrant green v-neck sweater with gold jewelry from Kendra Scott

I forgot to tell you about my jewelry. My Ryder long link earrings are so cute and light. I love the linear chain and how it hangs, and I ordered these in gold. The two chain necklaces are actually a part of ONE necklace. You know that I like versatile items that can be worn in multiple ways, the Davis Multi-Strand Necklace is exactly that!!! The necklace comes with three chains that can be attached or detached and worn separately. So, I took these two chains off of the necklace and wore them without the chain with the Colbalt Howlite pendant. I can’t wait to get my other chain necklace (the Ryder mixed metal necklace) and bracelet (Ryder mixed metal bracelet) in, I love wearing chains!

  1. Would love to see “How to feminize and or style a plaid flannel blouse” i.e. Old Navy’s inexpensive boxy classic flannels! I feel like the tops are unflattering, but buy them anyway.

    1. Sandy, I don’t wear a lot of flannel, but I would tuck them in or tie them at the waist. But, my best advice is…don’t buy something that is unflattering!

  2. Love the green sweater on you (but not my color) and the boots! Try vinegar on the slime. My grandson got some on our wall and granddaughter remembered she had seen on youtube to use vinegar to remove it. It worked. Don’t know if it will work on your driveway but might be worth a try!

  3. Love the look of a lot of these items. For some reason, when I go to the site, I can only see one color. There are options for other colors, but they are not displayed. Maybe it’s a mobile device issue.

  4. Sherli Morgan says:

Love the bear story…just not the bear in a neighborhood!!!

The clothes are great! Love how long your legs look in joe’s jeans. Wow! Those you need to keep for sure.

Thanks for all your hard work at keeping us on track fashion wise, encouraged & laughing.

  5. Thank you SO much for trying stuff to help us figure out sizing!
It‘s incredibly helpful, especially during the pandemic.
So many bloggers don’t for some reason, not sure why.
One question — how would you style those girlfriend jeans?
    Thx

  6. Christine Flaherty says:

I have been looking for a caramel leather handbag. Is this really heavy? Is it big enough? I’ve looked at the other bags Kattee sells, what style is your favorite?

    1. This is a nice sized bag, and the one that I am carrying is a large size. It also comes in an extra-large which is only a couple dollars more. I got another one in today, and you can check it out in comparison to the one on the blog today on my Instagram Stories.

  7. Wow! That’s quite a difference in color! I looked at the sweaters and was wondering if you think the tea color will go with olive pants. I love Vee necks but I’m hesitant because what if it turns out to be latte instead of tea? ????

  8. Linda Mack says:

So happy to read the Lark & Ro reviews. I will definitely purchase the sweater as it looks great on you. A nice traditional look for the fall. Thanks for the fun blog. Stay safe.

  9. Had to read the line twice about the Joe jeans…….THOUGHT YOU HAD YOUR HUBBYS JEANS ON. LOL

  10. CINDY GUNVILLE says:

Wow!! We had a baby bear wandering around 2 blocks away. That was too close for me!! Let’s just say I didn’t go out walking that day. Haha
I love all the finds have many arriving soon. The Joe’s Jeans I can not wear they are way too long!! I am living the kut high rise Diana jeans! Enjoy the rest of your day.

    Blessings
    Cindy

  11. Oh my a bear! My parents lived in Lake Tahoe, specifically in Tahoe Donner. Everyone was require to keep their trash cans in a bear proof shed. Problem with these little buggers is they get bold and brazen and once they find you are an easy mark, you are done for! We’ve met bears camping but never here in the SF Bay Area. We do however have raccoons and they have dug up my asters every night.

I ordered that bag, and can’t wait to get it. Funny how colors are different on sites! That sweater looks very pastel on my iPad. That’s a hard color to pair with anything. I think I’ve avoided it because there’s nothing in my closet in that shade.

I love the tv show Home Town. She’s a big fan of headbands and she sells them through her store. They are cloth, not plastic.

  12. I like the jeans and the green sweater! I’m a bell bottom/ flare gurl!

  13. Pam Hodge says:

Love the trying on posts! Good to hear what really fits and what doesn’t. But in this post today, the thing that I loved the most was your door! LOL. What brand and color pain do you use? I just showed it to my husband (who is sick right now with pneumonia and can’t do anything much but look at what I show him), and he didn’t turn his nose up at painting our door instead of staining. So quick, what is it? ????????.
P.S. He’s much better now, so I can joke a little.

    1. Pam, I love a solid black door. I have had it painted black for years, and it was getting nicked from the wreaths that I’ve hung up. I just told my painters to get me a black satin paint, and I know that it was by Valspar, but that is all that I know. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

  14. Loved today’s try on haul! Lots of good things for fall.

    1. Yay! I’m glad that you liked today’s haul.

  15. Loved this haul! Angie @ hotandflashy also recommends Daily Ritual and Lark & Ro. It’s good to know 2 of my fave fashion bloggers suggest these brands✅

    1. I’ve seen here stuff on YouTube before, she is great. I really liked both of those brands, and I’ll be ordering more from them.

  16. Jennifer Phillipson says:

We have bears too! We live them but of course we stay away and watch from a distance. Where are you at??
I’m new to your blog and loving it. I have my “cupcake top” as I call it. ????. I’d rather buy cheese boards and dishes then clothes. I need this blog and your help!

    1. I live in the mountains of Virginia. We don’t normally get many bears brave enough to come into our yards, but I guess they smelled food.

  17. Great haul for this Tuesday’s try on session! Thanks for doing all the leg work for us gurls.

    1. Yay! I am glad that you liked the try-on session. I’ve got a ton of clothing in from Talbots and Chicos, so I can’t wait to get those photographed.

  18. Julia Gilbert says:

Love the different hair styles. Headbands and hair clips have become my new best friends LOL during the pandemic. Love your blog.

    Best,

    1. My style was best summed up as, “lazy.” Lol!

  19. MARGIE A LEWIS says:

Bears love honey don’t you have some extra in the pantry? He needs to fatten up before a long winter nap.

    1. I’ll send him to Tennessee and he can live with your chickens. Lol!

  20. Oh my gosh, a bear on the porch! Wow, isn’t is lovely to see? No of course not I guess, it’s scary. But also a bit lovely……Love the cropped jeans, they are always my favorite.

    1. I would hate to walk outside in the dark and come upon the bear. YIKES!
