The Best Tops with 3/4 Sleeve for Women Over 50

I get a lot of requests for items with sleeves. After 50, we’re not in love with our arms. Same! So, let’s talk about a real closet hero, tops with 3/4 sleeves. I don’t know about you, but I love that sweet spot between short sleeves and long sleeves. You get the arm coverage we like without overheating, ha! These are perfect for church, lunch dates, running errands, or just looking pulled together for your next easy dinner with the family. I found some adorable ones that are stylish, comfy, and just right for us ladies over 50!

As much as I LOVE the look of a 3/4 sleeve, which happens to be the most flattering length, I don’t own many tops that are that length. Instead, I prefer to create a 3/4 sleeve by rolling or scrunching the sleeves.

Embroidered Top from Talbots

You can never go wrong with black and white. It’s such a classic! The embroidered detail is just gorgeous and gives it that polished, church-ready vibe without trying too hard. Pair this with white pants or a denim skirt, and you’ve got a look that says “I woke up fabulous.”

Charming Stripe Top

A good stripe is always a winner, and this one is, well… charming, lol! I love the lavender and white and the ruffled sleeve detail. The fit is comfy, the fabric is soft, and it works with jeans, capris, or even tucked into a skirt. Just an easy go-to for everything from church events to Saturday brunch.

Lace-Up Scoop Neck

This one brings a little flair to your outfit, Gurl. The lace-up neckline is a cute touch without showing too much, and the scoop neck is flattering for all kinds of body types. I love this one with white jeans and a straw bag—it’s a whole mood. Bonus: it’s soft and stretchy, so you’ll be comfortable from Sunday morning services to afternoon ice cream with the grands.

Timeson Top with Ruffle Sleeves

Ruffles, Gurl, I can’t resist them! This top has the sweetest ruffled 3/4 sleeves, and the fabric is lightweight and flowy. It’s great for layering with a denim jacket or wearing on its own. A blousy top like this is flattering, especially to those who want their belly hidden. Who doesn’t?! The red and white is pretty, but it comes in a ton of other colors if this isn’t your fave.

Lilly Pulitzer

Oooooh. How pretty is this?! If you’re looking to bring in a pop of color and fun, this Lilly top is it. The bright prints are so happy, perfect for beach days, summer trips, or even just livening up a grocery store run. The fit is flattering, and the fabric is soft and breathable. I’m loving it with the pale pink pants!

Hanes Essential T-Shirt

Sometimes simple is the way to go, and this Hanes tee is an essential for a reason. It’s cottony-soft, lightweight, and easy to wear. Great for layering under a vest or cardi, or just worn solo with some comfy pants while you’re checking off errands. A great staple to toss in your cart and thank yourself later!

V-Neck Tie Cuff

Okay, this one is a little dressier without being fussy. The V-neck flatters the neckline, and those little tie cuffs? So cute! It works tucked in with dress pants or flowy over white jeans. It’s 100% polyester and machine washable, so easy to take care of, which is always a plus!

Floral Three Quarter Sleeve

A little floral goes a long way, and this one’s just right. The pattern is subtle, not too busy, and it’s got that easy-fit feel. Great with capris or even a cute little skirt for brunch or a casual gathering. You’ll look sweet without overthinking it.

Floral High-Low Shirt

This high-low top gives you that little extra coverage in the back (you know what I mean, Gurl!) and looks amazing with slim pants. The floral print is fresh, and the 3/4 sleeves balance it out for an elegant look. Throw on some earrings and a handbag, and you’re ready for worship services or a garden party.

So there you have it, my top picks for tops with 3/4 sleeves that are perfect for women over 50! Whether you’re headed to church, hosting brunch, or just want to look pulled together while staying comfy, these tops hit the mark. Let me know which one you’re adding to your cart, and don’t forget to grab a cute handbag or accessory to go with it!

I don’t wear three-quarter length sleeves ever. I find myself tugging at the sleeve to make them longer, and I don’t care for the feel of them pushed up over my elbow. I’ve seen that red Timelon Shirt with ruffled sleeves on Amazon repeatedly. I think the Amazon ferry is telling me to buy that shirt immediately.
    Found it😁

  2. 😃 I love 3/4 sleeve an I usually push up long sleeves (I’m tall with long arms) too but do you have a trick to keep them scrunched up?

Happy Birthday Tania…you heard me loud and clear about longer sleeves for us older gurls. I have always added sleeves to my sleeveless or short sleeve items.

I am a seamstress, so this is not hard for me to do.

Tania, God bless u with many more birthdays in health and happiness!

For those who have long sleeves and would like them hiked up, I have bought 2 metal elastic bands and that works to keep them up. Don’t know what they are called. Also, for other seamstresses, cut sleeve off at preferred length and put elastic or ties as in the one picture shown today. Love all the patterns of the blouses shown today.

  13. 🙂 Great selection.
You look stunning in the coral sweater set.

  14. 😀 didn’t find it and Nice! selections

  23. sue koren says:

🙂 Glad you had a nice birthday

  24. 🙂 I prefer to roll up my long sleeves as well. When I sorta crunch them up they seem to always fall back down, so rolling is what I do most of the time.

  25. 🙂 Tania glad you had a wonderful Birthday. The 3/4 lengths sleeves are great for me because of my psoriasis. Lots of beautiful options.

  26. ☺️ I love so many of these blouses, but the lavender and white stripe looks so cool for summer.

  27. 🙂 I am not a fan of sleeveless tops anymore either but now instead of 3/4 length sleeves I really like elbow length shirts, protects my upper arms but still cool on a hot day.
Every time I see you in that coral sweater with that tee shirt it looks so good on you I want to purchase it and I can’t even wear that color!

  28. Great ideas! Found it. 🙂

  29. Cynthis C. says:

🙂 Found it! I only wear 3/4 sleeves. Thanks so much for this post!

  30. Beautiful tops that could work in summer in Florida! I actually prefer elbow length sleeves that fit close around my arms. Just plain, no cuffs, or ties, buttons, etc. Also, in a fabric with a little Spandex so it holds its shape (no 100% Pima cotton). I have a few but they are a bit hard to find. Thank you for all your very helpful styling suggestions.

  31. Always like 3/4 sleeves for versatility. The Talbots modern shirt s my favorite. So versatile ☺️

  35. Dorothy Kennedy says:

🙂Love the coral cardigan! I also wish I had more 3/4 sleeve tops. I think they are not easy to find. I am old enough to convince myself I am younger than I look and if you don’t like my arms, Don’t look🤣

  36. Cynthia Fisher says:

  40. Elizabeth Tobin says:

😊Love the modern shirt from Talbots. Having some amount of sleeve in the summer months is my best defense against the chill of too much air conditioning!

  41. Carolyn (petite) says:

I love 3/4 sleeves! They are so flattering, especially on petites, gives some illusion of lengthening, I think. 🙂 And yes, like you, I will scrunch up a full sleeve top to 3/4 sleeves. 🙂

  42. Sonja Allen says:

🙂 Love the bright Spring colors!

  43. 😊 I love 3/4 length sleeves…thank you for the suggestions. I tried the link for the Hanes tee, but it didn’t work.

  44. 🙂 I do wear lighter weight shirts and cardigans and push up the sleeves. It’s great at work where I’m so cold all day. It’s nice to have some tops that are just 1/2 or 3/4 sleeves. Hard to find without elastic though. I’m over those! Had too many and just sick of the style. :/

  45. Darlene Bright says:

😊 So many cute tops! I love the first outfit in coral and the red & white ruffled top.

  46. 😊 I like three quarters to hide my arms but light weight.

  60. Beverly Hawkins says:

    😊 Fabulous coral looks wonderful

  61. Carol Ann Jablonski says:

Just put the Timeson in my cart. I like 3/4 sleeves and elbow sleeves in a pima cotton. What I am no liking are the puffy shoulders.

  62. 🙂 A lot of great choices.

  63. Gail Medeiros says:

😊The Lily Pulitzer blouse is so pretty but too pricey for my taste.

  64. Kathy Laweryson says:

    found it!

3/4 length sleeves are my favorite!! I saved that Hanes shirt and love the red ruffle one.

  65. FOUND IT🙂! Your timing is perfect as I was in the process of looking for 3/4 or elbow sleeve tops. I have become very self conscious of my upper arms and covering them will help me feel more comfortable. So thank you !

  66. 😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing these tops!

  67. April Congleton says:

Hope your birthday was great sounds like it
I have to go sleeveless in summer too hot in Nc and humid ☺️

  68. 😊The coral colored sweater looks great on you Tania. Over the last several years I have developed a heat sensitivity on my skin, not just from the sun. Therefore, I gravitate to wearing 3/4 sleeve blouses in the summer…especially the thinner silkier ones. The red & white spotted blouse from Amazon is gorgeous and would work nicely with my platinum vintage hair 😉
    ~Lisa~

  69. Patti McDonald says:

😁 I love the tops! The pinstripe purple is my favorite. The red floral is pretty too. Nice selections.

  70. Nancy Steinke says:

Thank you for 3/4 sleeves. All of what you show in short sleeves or sleeveless is useless for me and many others who hate their upper arms. The purpose of this blog is to help women over 50 look better, right? I propose you show at least one option in each blog that covers the upper arms, but not necessarily long sleeves. Thanks Tania!

  71. Tania-
I’m glad you had a great birthday! You look absolutely gorgeous in that coral cardigan and t shirt from J. Jill! Wow!

  72. 🙂 Love the colors in the first top!
