THREE VERSATILE LOOKS USING NEUTRAL COLORS
Gurl’s, I’m dragging my tail today, so this might be a whole lot of links and very little talking. I bet you’re thinking, “I’ve heard that before.” Lol! Since it is the end of the year, I have been working at our lumber company helping to get everything entered into the computer before the end of the month. How did I ever work full-time and blog at the same time?
I’ve been working until after 5:00 pm, then coming home and writing a blog for the next day. I can usually write the blog in a couple of hours, but when I get home from the lumber company, my brain is already mush. It is hard for me to concentrate and I find myself staring off into space. Haha! If my post doesn’t make sense, at least you’ll know why.
Another thing that I’m trying to do is go back on my diet. When Thanksgiving rolled around, I decided to put my diet on hold and to enjoy all of the foods of the holidays. Whew! That included a lot of candy, cakes, carb-loaded breakfasts, and lots of butter, bread, and potatoes. It also included finding 5 pounds of weight that I had worked hard to lose, so I’m anxious to get back on track.
If you haven’t read about the diet program that I’m following, you can read about it in this post. This is a FaceBook online group, so you must have a FaceBook account to be part of the program. If you are wanting to join me in the next round which starts on Jan. 3rd, the sign-up for the program starts Tomorrow! I’ll try to do a reminder each day until the sign-up period is over so that it gives everyone plenty of notice. This is the first time that they are going to be asking who referred you to the program, so please put Tania Stephens and not 50 Is Not Old in that area.
Have you seen my latest YouTube video? It is a Try-On Haul from Chico’s, and the outfits that I’ve been styling are included in the video. I know that some of you prefer to see a live video of the clothing, so you can view them by clicking on the red highlighted link above.
I love this striped Colorblock Ruana Wrap. The Ruana adds color and style while hiding any body flaws that you might have. The long vertical lines help to create the illusion of being tall and thin, and I am all about that! I’m wearing a S/M, and it is plenty roomy.
Here is the view from the back so you can gauge the length of the Ruana. For your reference, I am 5’6″ tall, and the wrap hits me around my knees.
I hope that you’ve been able to grab this convertible layering necklace. This necklace is great since you can change the look by un-hooking any of the strands. Later in this post, you’ll see me only wearing the long strand, and that gives this necklace a lot of versatility.
Let’s change things up, and switch out the Ruana for a colorblock cable poncho. A Ruana is like an open-front poncho, and some Ruana’s can be open all the way down the sides also. I like my ponchos and Ruana’s to have a sleeve opening instead of being an actual wrap.
The colorblock poncho is a tiny bit shorter than the Ruana, but it is still plenty long to wear with leggings. I love the two-tone black and camel color combination and the cable-knit seam that connects the two colors.
Here is a close-up of the cable-knit seam. This poncho also has a large oversized turtleneck that is not tight or confining at all. I’m wearing a black turtleneck under the poncho since it has short sleeves. You could wear a crewneck long sleeve t-shirt instead, I just happened to already have on the black turtleneck, so I went with that. I’m wearing an S/M poncho, and the black turtleneck is a size 1.
I’m wearing a long chunky leopard necklace with black rhinestone spots. I think this necklace is so adorable, and it can be worn with dressy or casual outfits. Since this necklace is 40″ long, I like layering it with shorter necklaces as I did in this post. I thought the long tunic length poncho needed a bold statement necklace, and this leopard necklace was perfect for the look.
Now, for a New Year’s Eve look! I’ve mentioned 2x before in earlier posts that I would style these snakeskin print jeggings for a New Year’s Eve look, and here it is. This look is dressy and chic, but it is not decked out in rhinestones. Everyone is not a fan of rhinestones, and some prefer to be more subtle in their style, so here is a great option for you.
This touch of sparkle sweater adds just enough bling to be festive, but not be “in your face.” This is a thinner sweater, and if you look real hard, you can see the black of my pants showing through. A different color sweater would fix that issue, but the cream color allows the black to show.
You can wear this sweater as an off-the-shoulder look, or you can wear it as a cowl-neck look. Just because an item is created to be worn one way doesn’t mean that you can’t wear it another way. If the off-the-shoulder look makes you uncomfortable, then wear the item as a cowl neck instead. I’m wearing a size 1 in the sweater, and I noticed that the cream color is already sold out. There is a black and several other colors still available, and they would all look great.
My necklace is the long layer from the convertible necklace above, and I am also wearing my Gold Vermeil Cross Necklace that I wear all of the time. The long snowflake dangle earrings have already sold out, and I can’t find anything similar to them.
If you like posts like this that show more than one way to wear your clothing, be sure to let me know. Also, which one of these outfits can you see yourself wearing? I hope you liked today’s post. If so, PLEASE remember to pin my post on Pinterest.

Love the ruanas/ponchos, but I am 5’2 and can’t pull off.
I love your lipstick with the above-mentioned tops. Could you please tell me what it is? It looks like it makes your teeth appear extremely white!
I love the look of the white sparkly sweater on you and it makes me sad that they are sold out. I’ll have to keep my eyes out for something similar. Happy New Year!
In a room full of sequined party dresses and over-the-top finery, I would remember the simple sophistication of the white sparkly sweater and black pants.
I loved the simplicity of the outfit also. But, I think it is perfect for New Years Eve and any other place that you want to dress up for.
Please take a day or two off. We wouldn’t mind. You need your rest.
Goodness, I’m not sure that I know how to do that. Lol!
I especially like the white sweater and jeggings outfit, but you look great in all the outfits. I think the holidays add a few pounds on most people, with all the abundance of food and drink.
I really like all three looks in this post! The ruana is beautiful. Of course, you look fabulous in all three outfits and the 5 lbs. you gained back are not visible to me. Good luck balancing the work at your lumber business and the blog.
Hi Tania, I clicked on the Facebook group for the diet but it took me to a e2m personal training? The diet plan sounds interesting to me. I have never done intermittent dieting but I could do noon to 8!
The E2M is the FB group where they will post the signup link tomorrow. Then, after you signup, you will join a private E2M group where they have all of the information. But, you can look at the before and afters in the one that you see now. It is pretty incredible!
Great post. I want to have your wardrobe. It make me weak with envy. 😊
Laura, don’t be too envious, I don’t keep everything I style on the blog. I don’t have the space, the need, or the finances for all of it. Lol!
Love posts like these, and I would wear all of these looks!
Yay!!! I think all of these looks are great too.
Love the different looks please continue this.
Great! I’m glad you like them. They are harder and take more time, but I enjoy doing them when I can.
