THIS IS PROBABLY WHAT NOT TO WEAR FOR HIKING

 

A sunny Saturday called for exploration. I live in a wild, wonderful, mountainous, and beautiful area with plenty of hiking and exploring opportunities. My daughter loves to go hiking and camping, but that isn’t for me. I enjoy looking at the scenery, so I decided to check out the Breaks Interstate Park that is right down the road from me. I think my outfit my go under the “what NOT to wear for hiking!” Lol!

 

 

Since I had no desire to go hiking on the trails, I didn’t dress in boots, etc. Had I been hiking through the woods, I would NOT have been wearing sandals or shorts.

 

 

At least I should be visible in my bright blue boatneck tee. A boatneck neckline is my choice if I can’t have a v or a scoop. I am always looking for ways to create a waistline, and a boatneck neckline helps to do that. That neckline draws your eyes outward, making my shoulders look wider. Wider shoulders = smaller waistline! If you already have wide shoulders, you will probably want to steer clear of this type of neckline and choose a v-neck instead.

The longer elbow length is also a great length that almost everyone likes. They hide the dreaded upper arm but still keeps us cool in the summer heat. I think the top runs true to size, and I am wearing a size large. I am 5’6″ tall for sizing reference, weigh between 155-165, usually wear a size 10 in pants, a medium or large in tops, and a 12 in dresses. I could have worn a medium in the top, but I liked the larger/relaxed look, and I wasn’t sure if it would shrink since it is 100% cotton.

These 5″ chino shorts look so nice on. They have a flat front and slip pockets in the front and back. The material is 98% cotton, but they have some stretch to them because of 2% spandex. I think the shorts run true to size so that you can order your normal size. I love this floral print, but it is all sold out in misses. However, it is still available in Petite and Plus sizes, so maybe one of those would work for you. There is a gorgeous Navy Floral that is still available, so be sure to check out that one.

 

 

I love these navy buckle sandals that I bought last year. These sandals are a nicer look than flip-flops, and they are very comfortable. I was a little surprised that they were as comfortable as they are, then I saw that they have a memory foam bed. The shoes do have a small 1/2″ heel, and they have a slightly rounded toe. It is the buckle feature that I like since it gives them a different look than many other sandals. The shoes run true to size and come in three other colors.

 

 

I am wearing a little jewelry, so I’ll mention those for you. The earrings that I am wearing are the linear Ryder earrings; the blue pendant necklace is part of a multi-chain necklace. You can remove any of the chains, and that makes this necklace very versatile. I also have on the Rebecca Stretch bracelet in White Howlite and the Natalie Hinge Bangle Bracelet. These two bracelets have become my go-to for the summer.

Kendra Scott is having a 20% off sale sitewide. That even includes home, and that hardly ever happens. I took this opportunity to buy the small jewelry box, the only one that I don’t have.

The scenery was so beautiful at this spot, and I stumbled upon it by accident. To keep from having harsh shadows, you need to have shade when you take photos. So, I drove down the road and saw a little trail that went back into the woods. We parked the car and walked about 10-15 feet off the road to this large rock.

 

 

After we had taken the photos, I looked behind me and peered over the rock.

 

 

This huge ravine was my view. It is hard to make out how deep this was, but it was pretty dang deep! Don’t worry; I didn’t go anywhere near the edge.
