THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD
Do you ever stop to think about the power of the spoken word? The greatest example of this is our world; it was “spoken” into existence by the Lord. The Lord spoke day and night into existence. The Lord spoke the sky and the land into existence. The Lord spoke all the vegetation and the trees into existence. The Lord spoke the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars into existence. The Lord spoke all the animals into existence, and He saw that it was good. My words are not the same as the Lords, and I can not create creatures or worlds into existence. But, we can create more things into existence than we realize.
The other day, one of my friends came by work to see Joe. He was limping a little, so I asked him if he had hurt his leg. He said that he was getting old. He said that he had bad knees, he had a bad back, he had a bad heart, and he was just getting old. I wanted to scream, “don’t say that!” “Don’t speak it into existence.”
Our mind is a wonderful thing. It is capable of having thousands and thousands of thoughts in one day. We can control some of those thoughts and direct them in a way that can change the direction of our day. When you wake up in the morning, you can start it off by thinking how bad you feel or you can start it off by thinking about all of the things that are going well. You woke up, that is a wonderful blessing. You are sleeping in a warm bed, you have a roof over your head, you have indoor plumbing and running water, you flip the switch for lights, and then you put on clothing and shoes. You are blessed! If someone asks you how you feel you have a choice to make. You can say, “I hurt all over” or you can say, “it is a great day to be alive, and I am blessed.” Which thought would you rather go through the day thinking about?
I read somewhere that the Reverend Billy Graham was quoted as saying that he didn’t know if there was an afterlife, but he chose to believe there was. He believed, he had faith, and his actions throughout his life were shaped by his belief.
Take a few minutes and think about the thoughts that go through your mind in a day. Do you ever say things like, “I can’t lose weight?” “I am fat.” “I have no friends.” “I’ll never get married.” “I am not smart enough.” “I am not good enough.” Let’s be honest, would you ever say those things to your friends? There is a quote by Lisa Hayes that says, “Be careful how you are talking to yourself because you are listening.”
The Lord “created” man in His image. He might not have given us the ability to speak everything into existence, but He did give us the ability to speak “some” things into existence. Be careful what you are creating.
Genesis 1:1-25
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening, and there was morning, the first day.
6 And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. 8 And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening, and there was morning, the second day.
9 And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.
11 And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.
20 And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” 21 So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.
24 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. 25 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Have a Blessed Day!

I love this!!
Oh my word Tania, only just a few minutes ago, I read about God’s sovereignity, for His Creation and Providence. Ps 104. v1 O Lord my Godk You are very great. v5 You who laid the foundations of the earth so that it should not be moved forever; v6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment ; the waters stood above the mountains. v7 AT YOUR REBUKE THEY FLED; AT THE VOICE OF YOUR THUNDER THEY HASTENED AWAY. Our God is Supreme and Most Powerful.
The power of HIS word is great and mighty.
