The “Fisherman” Sandal: A Sophisticated, Closed-Toe Option

If you haven’t tried a fisherman sandal yet… this might be your year.

They are everywhere right now, but here’s why I love them for us: they give you coverage, support, and style all in one shoe. If you don’t love showing your toes, or you just want something a little more substantial than a flip-flop, this is such a great option.

They feel polished, a little modern, and surprisingly comfortable.

Classic Fisherman Styles That Feel Updated

Faina Leather Fisherman Slide

Faina Leather Fisherman Slide Sandal (TTS)

The Faina Fisherman Slide is the perfect solution for when you want the ease of a slide-on shoe but need it to look more “grown-up” than a basic sandal. I love the basket-weave texture on these; the mixture of smooth leather and suede gives them so much dimension. Because they are a slide, you can just kick them on and go, but the closed-toe design keeps the look sophisticated and polished.

NAOT Sandals

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know these are my “holy grail” walking sandals. The reason I keep coming back to these is the security and the support. The cork footbed actually molds to the shape of your foot, so the more you wear them, the more comfortable they get. I especially love the velcro straps; they make it so easy to get a perfect fit every time, and they stay securely on your foot without any rubbing.

Note: These do run a bit small, so I definitely recommend sizing up for the best fit.

The Fisherman Sandal

This fisherman sandal is the style you’re probably seeing everywhere right now. It has that traditional woven look but feels very current. The closed toe gives you coverage, while the cutouts keep it breathable. I love this with cropped pants or casual dresses; it just looks effortlessly put together.

Bindy Fisherman Sandal

The Bindy sandal has a slightly softer look, which makes it really wearable. It doesn’t feel heavy or bulky on the foot. I like this if you want to try the trend without going too bold. It’s easy, comfortable, and very flattering.

Fly London Alli Fisherman Sandal

Fly London always brings a little edge, and this fisherman sandal is no different. The sole gives you a bit of height, but it still feels stable. I love this if you want something a little more modern and bold. It’s a statement, but still practical.

More Supportive Options (Great for Walking)

The Cooper Fisherman Flat (Wide Widths Available)

This Fisherman Flat is such a great option if you need a little more room or support. The wider fit makes a big difference in comfort, especially in the summer. The structure of the shoe helps keep your foot secure. This is a great everyday walking shoe.

Franco Sarto Tavana Fisherman Sandal

This sandal looks a lot like the Kenneth Cole one I had at the beginning of the post. It leans a little more classic and refined. Franco Sarto tends to focus on comfort, and you can feel it here. I love this for everyday wear when you still want to look polished. It’s simple but very reliable.

Dolce Vita Holis Fisherman Sandal

The Dolce Vita Fisherman Sandal feels a little more fashion-forward. It has that chunky look that’s trending right now, but it’s still wearable. I like this with straight-leg jeans or linen pants. It gives your outfit a little edge without trying too hard.

Dressier Styles That Still Feel Comfortable

Libby Slingback Sandal

If you want something a little lighter, this slingback sandal is a great option. The slingback keeps it open and airy while still giving you that structured look in the front. I love this for dinners or casual outings. It feels a little more elevated.

Alazia Sandal

This Alazia Sandal has a more refined silhouette, which makes it feel dressier. It’s still comfortable, but it looks a little more polished. I’d wear this with dresses or even a casual skirt. It’s simple but very pretty.

Vince Melina Fisherman Sandal

This is a more elevated version of the fisherman sandal. The design is cleaner and more minimal, which makes it feel sophisticated. I love this if you want something that can transition from day to evening. It’s understated but very chic.

Budget-Friendly Option That Still Looks Great

DREAM PAIRS Fisherman Gladiator Sandal

This gladiator sandal is a great option if you want to try the trend without spending a lot. It has that classic woven look and gives you the same coverage and support. I like this for everyday wear or casual outings. It’s affordable, comfortable, and still very stylish.

Gurls, the fisherman sandal is one of those trends that actually makes sense for real life.

You get coverage, you get support, and you still look stylish. It’s a great alternative if you don’t love showing your toes or if you just want something more substantial than a basic sandal.
