THE COMPARISON GAMES

I don’t know if any of you watched the movies, “The Hunger Games.” I only saw bits and pieces of the first movie but my daughter and everyone else raved about these movies. All I knew about the movies was that they starred Jennifer Lawrence and it was about fighting till death.

I don’t like movies about dying. I hate to cry and I cry at the drop of a bucket. Commercials, movies, FaceBook posts, etc., will send me running to the bathroom or for the Kleenex box. I don’t cry pretty, maybe that is why I hate it so much. So, why would I watch a movie where I know they are pitting people (especially children) against each other? But, as luck would have it, the movie was on at my sister’s house when I was there last weekend and I watched some of it. It was riveting and I had no choice.

There is no real “Hunger Games” that I know of but there is still plenty of pitting women against each other. I call this the “Comparison Games.” Let’s look at some examples that I have noticed from comments of others.

Clothing

How much does she spend on that clothing?

I bet she had a closet that is HUGE!

How many pairs of shoes does one woman need?

I like that outfit but I couldn’t wear it. It wouldn’t look right on me.

Family

I wish my husband cooked me supper.

Look at well behaved her children are.

I wish I had grandchildren, I am never going to have any.

Money

I could look good too if I had all their money.

I bet she has someone to cook and clean for her.

That house is HUGE! I wish I had a bigger house.

If I only made 1000.00 more dollars a month then I would be set.

Reality

The reality is we have ENOUGH! You are reading this post so I know you have a phone or computer. You are looking at a fashion blog (at least most of the time) so I know you “have” clothing. Let’s try counting our blessings instead.

I have clothing. I have shoes. I have a family. I have friends. I have money. I have a roof over my head. Do I want better? YES! Do I want more? YES! Do I have enough? YES!!!

No Whining Zone

Every time I whine or complain I am telling the Lord that He is not doing a good job. Every time I whine or complain I am giving the devil an opening to come inside. Every time I whine or complain I am going to STOP and thank the Lord that He has provided for me.

I am GRATEFUL, I am THANKFUL, I am BLESSED!

Have a Blessed Sunday!

Amen, Tania! We ALL need to be reminded once in a while just how blessed we really are! There are millions of people who would love to just have a roof over their head instead of sleeping on the street every night! You are always so positive and upbeat and I totally love you and your blog!! Have a blessed day!

  4. Thank you Tanya for this post. I really needed it today. I do have grandchildren(2) babies. My sweet husband and I keep them and we also have a mentally challenged daughter, so we are on our toes everyday. Some days I just want to have a pity party, but I know God has blessed us so much . We have a beautiful home, food, clothes. and just about anything we want, but time to ourselves. Of course, God has plans for us and right now this is it. So I need to thank Him more and quit complaining . You are the best. The Lord is helping us through you,so you just keep doing what you are doing. I love your blog.My God bless you everyday.

  5. Wise words. It is so easy to take the things we have for granted; and we have SO much, yet we can be such a discontented lot. Thank you for the great reminder.

  6. Thank you Tania, these words touched me very deeply. The Lord is using you in a beautiful way.
