THE COLORS OF FALL
I really loved reading all of the comments on yesterday’s blog post. Some of them were really moving and a couple even brought me to tears. It looks like most of you shouted out your husbands as your “person” and I can understand that. After all, those poor men have had to put up with us for all these years. Lol! I also saw a lot of parents, best friends, and children mentioned in the post. It is probably a mix of all those people who have made us into the person we have become. I am sure that there have been many wonderful moments and even some that we would like to forget, but all of them are important. We are like steel, we need the fire to become what we are meant to be.

Joe was thrilled to see the comments that you gurls left about his “baby.” He is chomping at the bit to get it up in the air and I think he is planning a small trip down to North Myrtle Beach sometime this week to check out our condo. That is the first time that we have ever had a property in danger of a Hurricane. That is a different feeling and I can’t imagine how hard it is for those who live along the coast. We did receive a message from the Avista Resort saying that they went in and checked out our unit and everything looks fine. Whew! That was good news. I know that we have Hurricane insurance but you never know how good your insurance really is until you need to use it. I hope that those who were affected at least have insurance. I have heard so many horror stories before where people have lost everything and had no insurance. I can understand how that happens. A small river runs in front of our house and the flood insurance was really high and had to be paid all at once. I understand how people couldn’t afford to hand over such a large chunk of money at once. I have all of them and the workers who are helping to clean up the damage in my prayers.

I absolutely love the colors on this off the shoulder top. The deep terracotta color background is the perfect setting for the bright turquoise and maize colors. This top is from Karen Kane and I bought it at a local boutique in town called Elaine’s. I like the relaxed style of this top and even the drawstring waistline that helps it not to look so big and baggy. This is 100% Viscose so that means Dry Clean only which is the only downside to me. I just don’t have a dry cleaner on every corner like some of you might have so it is a bit more of a pain for me. Some of you have told me that you have a hard time wearing an off the shoulder look so you might want to check out this style here instead. Also, here is a plus size top in the same fabric but just a little different style.

I am wearing the Ciara gold filigree earrings and the Mary Ellen bracelet. The Ciara earrings are gold metal and very lightweight. They have a 3″ drop which is stunning but not too over-the-top. The Mary Ellen bracelet is gold metal also and features a beaded tassel. You will love both of these items and you will find lots to wear with them. I have been celebrating my 3 year blog anniversary by offering a free piece of jewelry with every 50.00 purchase (excluding taxes and shipping) for this entire month! Go here and have fun shopping! Make sure that you pick a party with my name in it so that I can track the purchases. You will love the new fall collection! I placed an order while I was in New Orleans and I can’t wait for it to arrive.

It is a deeper tan or a deep sand color. I am not sure what the official color name is but I do like it. I couldn’t find these pants on their website but I did find some that were very similar for you. I already have a couple pair of pants in this color but one is a corduroy and one is a chino style. This one has the spandex material in it so it is more like a legging style. Yes, I need them all. Lol!

I get emails almost daily from a lot of my blog readers telling me that I have inspired them to step outside of their comfort zone. Nothing pleases me more than hearing that!!! It doesn’t matter if they are talking about clothing or their faith or just about being brave enough to try something new. If my blog inspires someone to be better today than they were yesterday, then I am a happy camper!!! Why am I so passionate about that? Mostly, because I have been the one who was afraid, the one who would never try anything new because I might fail. I heard Rachel Hollis say these inspiring words on Thursday. She said, “You’re going to suck!” And then she said, “So what?” What if you suck three or four times and then all of a sudden you don’t suck anymore? What if a small child gave up on trying to walk after he fell a couple of times? Why do we as adults think we have to have a suck-free life?

This entire week, I am going to be asking a different question and everyone who comments will be entered into a drawing for a Vince Camuto Vegan Leather Tote. Today’s question is: what have you tried and sucked at, but now you good at it?

I guess I would have to say my job. I am an MRI tech and didn’t know anything at first. Through the years I have turned into a great technologist with great troubleshooting skills. I am also great with patients.
Love the outfit! Fall is my favorite season here in NY.
Being a professional genealogist, I am extremely introverted. Happy to work quietly on my computer or tucked into the corner of a library. I was roped into teaching a class a couple years ago that should have lasted an hour but with my nerves and quick talking, it was done in 20 min., lol! I was mortified. Since then I’ve challenged myself to do more public speaking and now I’m comfortable doing presentations in front of am audience. ☺
Hi Tania,
I live in Ontario Canada and we have beautiful fall seasons here.
Your top is lovely and right away I thought of fall colours.
I enjoy your posts everyday and enjoy your sunny outlook on life itself. You are inspiring!
I am also like you…..Many things I would not try to do and was always afraid of failure. I have learnt
over many years that if you don’t try you will never know what you can accomplish. So try, try again.
There is nothing wrong with not succeeding but there is with not giving it a go, that would be a failure.
I remember how hard it was for my parents , sister and I to start out lives in aa strange country.
We came from England and left behind lots of family and friends. My parents were determined to give
us a nice life here in Canada and they succeed. It was scary for them I’m sure.
One thing for sure there is always tomorrow and you can give things another go.
Think positive thoughts!
Thank you again for your wonderful blogs. Enjoy what you talk about and all those lovely fashions.

This is a very difficult question for me. I don’t see myself as great at anything. I do however love photography & have taken a couple of classes. I love taking pictures of my grandchildren & feel proud when they hang on my children’s walls.
Growing up I was super shy and wouldnt even speak to people in the halls at school, or play volleyball at our family bbq’s! Now I’m at Greeter and a Section Host at church and I walk around shaking hands w everyone and telling them hello and asking if they need any help. Still not very good at volleyball tho!?
I love your top! I’m all about cold shoulder.
I love this whole outfit on you. I always sucked at sticking to a diet. I started the Keto way of eating on August 5 and I am down 25 pounds. Only 14 pounds to my goal weight. Really proud that I have stuck with it.
Love the top. I started tap dancing 2 years ago at age 50. I sucked at first but stuck with it and am starting my third year soon. It is so much fun
This outfit looks so ready for fall! I have been holding on to summer so tightly this year for some reason. I hate the idea of packing away my sandals and bringing out boots. This is a great transitional outfit that I could see myself wearing. I think the butterscotch color pants are just the thing I need to add to my wardrobe to ease myself into dressing for fall.
The one thing I have learned over the years is there is more than one right way to do things! Trying anything new takes patience and persistence. Getting good at something usually means you have a passion for learning how to do it and you did not allow yourself to get frustrated in the process along the way.
Your blog has been such an inspiration for me. I have been following you for 2 years now! I just love you to pieces for being a light for other ladies trying to live their life to the fullest.
I wanted to ride a motorcycle. I took the lessons and passed the course with no problem. But getting out on the road with all those big cars, well that took my confidence to a new low level. I continued to give it a go, but realized that without the where with all to overcome the cars….I sucked at it.

LOVE this outfit! I am so ready for fall! I love the colors the season brings and can’t wait to add. Something similar to this outfit to my own wardrobe! Your question today really made me put my thinking cap on. I’m going to really date myself but I do remember taking shorthand in high school and really struggling to learn the symbols and to build speed at it. I had the opportunity to take a job as a legal secretary and I was terrified because I was not good st shorthand. I told my new boss of my fears and he was so great and helped me work through my fears. Over time I became proficient in this skill and learned to even enjoy it. Sometimes, even today, I find myself making my grocery list in shorthand!!
