50 IS NOT OLD | THE COLORS OF FALL | FASHION OVER 40I really loved reading all of the comments on yesterday’s blog post. Some of them were really moving and a couple even brought me to tears. It looks like most of you shouted out your husbands as your “person” and I can understand that. After all, those poor men have had to put up with us for all these years. Lol! I also saw a lot of parents, best friends, and children mentioned in the post. It is probably a mix of all those people who have made us into the person we have become. I am sure that there have been many wonderful moments and even some that we would like to forget, but all of them are important. We are like steel, we need the fire to become what we are meant to be.50 IS NOT OLD | THE COLORS OF FALL | FASHION OVER 40 Joe was thrilled to see the comments that you gurls left about his “baby.” He is chomping at the bit to get it up in the air and I think he is planning a small trip down to North Myrtle Beach sometime this week to check out our condo. That is the first time that we have ever had a property in danger of a Hurricane. That is a different feeling and I can’t imagine how hard it is for those who live along the coast. We did receive a message from the Avista Resort saying that they went in and checked out our unit and everything looks fine. Whew! That was good news. I know that we have Hurricane insurance but you never know how good your insurance really is until you need to use it. I hope that those who were affected at least have insurance. I have heard so many horror stories before where people have lost everything and had no insurance. I can understand how that happens. A small river runs in front of our house and the flood insurance was really high and had to be paid all at once. I understand how people couldn’t afford to hand over such a large chunk of money at once. I have all of them and the workers who are helping to clean up the damage in my prayers.50 IS NOT OLD | THE COLORS OF FALL | FASHION OVER 40 I absolutely love the colors on this off the shoulder top. The deep terracotta color background is the perfect setting for the bright turquoise and maize colors. This top is from Karen Kane and I bought it at a local boutique in town called Elaine’s. I like the relaxed style of this top and even the drawstring waistline that helps it not to look so big and baggy. This is 100% Viscose so that means Dry Clean only which is the only downside to me. I just don’t have a dry cleaner on every corner like some of you might have so it is a bit more of a pain for me. Some of you have told me that you have a hard time wearing an off the shoulder look so you might want to check out this style here instead. Also, here is a plus size top in the same fabric but just a little different style. 50 IS NOT OLD | THE COLORS OF FALL | FASHION OVER 40I only have on a small amount of jewelry with this look. I am wearing the Ciara gold filigree earrings and the Mary Ellen bracelet. The Ciara earrings are gold metal and very lightweight. They have a 3″ drop which is stunning but not too over-the-top. The Mary Ellen bracelet is gold metal also and features a beaded tassel. You will love both of these items and you will find lots to wear with them. I have been celebrating my 3 year blog anniversary by offering a free piece of jewelry with every 50.00 purchase (excluding taxes and shipping) for this entire month! Go here and have fun shopping! Make sure that you pick a party with my name in it so that I can track the purchases. You will love the new fall collection! I placed an order while I was in New Orleans and I can’t wait for it to arrive.50 IS NOT OLD | THE COLORS OF FALL | FASHION OVER 40 My pants are also from Karen Kane and I bought them at the same time as the top. I love this color for fall. It is a deeper tan or a deep sand color. I am not sure what the official color name is but I do like it. I couldn’t find these pants on their website but I did find some that were very similar for you. I already have a couple pair of pants in this color but one is a corduroy and one is a chino style. This one has the spandex material in it so it is more like a legging style. Yes, I need them all. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | THE COLORS OF FALL | FASHION OVER 40I get emails almost daily from a lot of my blog readers telling me that I have inspired them to step outside of their comfort zone. Nothing pleases me more than hearing that!!! It doesn’t matter if they are talking about clothing or their faith or just about being brave enough to try something new. If my blog inspires someone to be better today than they were yesterday, then I am a happy camper!!! Why am I so passionate about that? Mostly, because I have been the one who was afraid, the one who would never try anything new because I might fail. I heard Rachel Hollis say these inspiring words on Thursday. She said, “You’re going to suck!” And then she said, “So what?” What if you suck three or four times and then all of a sudden you don’t suck anymore? What if a small child gave up on trying to walk after he fell a couple of times? Why do we as adults think we have to have a suck-free life?

This entire week, I am going to be asking a different question and everyone who comments will be entered into a drawing for a Vince Camuto Vegan Leather Tote. Today’s question is: what have you tried and sucked at, but now you good at it?

Don’t forget, if you are not a subscriber for the daily email please enter your email in the box that says Subscribe To Blog Via Email and then watch for the confirmation email to come through. Sucked at running for about 6 months but kept at it and now its been 7 yrs of running. Yes there are days where i still suck but many more days i am pretty darn good at it

  2. I had Scarlet Fever and Rheumatic Fever within weeks of each other when I was three years old. They left me with mitro valve insuffiency (heart valve) and a hearing disability. The fever was so intense it damaged the nerve endings in my ears. I have managed to learn to read lips which helps but my disability is getting worse to the point that I will probably be completely deaf in a few years. I decided to take ASL (American Sign Language). I was so afraid to take the class because it is very difficult to learn. The instructors do not teach by speaking. You are immersed into the language by watching them sign. I am on my second class now. I won’t say that I am good, but I am getting better. I get so frustrated because I don’t catch on as quickly as in a normal classroom setting. I was afraid to try, but eventually I will get reasonably good at it. By the way, I am vegan and I love the purse! Thank you for all your inspiration.

  3. Great outfit Tania, love the colors in the top.
Wow this shouldn’t be that difficult of a question for me but sadly it is. Though my cooking has certainly improved over the years I can’t say that I’ve nailed it yet. It’s never too late right ?

When Mike and I first married I was a terrible cook.He was so sweet about it,ate it anyway, and I slowly became better at it.Most things just take practice.Love the blouse today!

  5. I LOVE this outfit on you. The colors are amazing. IDK if you have tried the “dry cleaning” sheets that they sell in the store, but those work great, without having to run to the cleaners all the time. If they don’t sell them where you are, let me know. I can ship ya some. : )

  6. I teach English to adults in Austria, where I’ve lived for the last 18 years (transplanted from Texas). Anyone who has ever attempted to learn a foreign language has certainly experienced that hopeless feeling of never getting anywhere with the new language. But you keep trying, and making mistakes, eventually getting over your inhibitions and then one day a whole new world has opened up for you! I’ve been through that myself in having to learn Spanish and German, and now as a language teacher, I see my students go through that every day. But having a supportive teacher goes a long way towards helping you reach that goal.

I would say cooking. Cooking shows really helped me in this area. I love to cook and I feel I am a much better cook than I was when I first started many years ago.

  8. Love the colors in this top…especially for fall! I have to say that being a farm wife you have to learn many things but the one thing that I always panicked about was having to run equipment for harvest. I would make myself sick from worrying about driving the grain cart to catch grain and then having to bring it in to unload and starting up the augers on the bin and tractors and oh how many times I circled around just to get closer to the wagon so the grain would go in and not over it and now….I don’t want to miss a day of being out there alongside my hubby and enjoying all the Fall colors while I’m in the field and I can get pulled up to the wagon to unload on the first try so yes…sometimes you have to believe in yourself to make it happen.

  9. Hmmm….simple question but difficult to answer! I guess I don’t consider myself being great at much. Fairly recently started knitting and made many mistakes. I’m fairly good at it now but don’t consider myself great at it.

Love your outfit. The colors are gorgeous.
I guess cooking would be something I was not at all good at. But after 33 years of marriage I can honestly say I’m much better at it now. I really enjoy it now too. Hope you have a great day.
