THE COLORS OF FALL
I really loved reading all of the comments on yesterday’s blog post. Some of them were really moving and a couple even brought me to tears. It looks like most of you shouted out your husbands as your “person” and I can understand that. After all, those poor men have had to put up with us for all these years. Lol! I also saw a lot of parents, best friends, and children mentioned in the post. It is probably a mix of all those people who have made us into the person we have become. I am sure that there have been many wonderful moments and even some that we would like to forget, but all of them are important. We are like steel, we need the fire to become what we are meant to be.
Joe was thrilled to see the comments that you gurls left about his “baby.” He is chomping at the bit to get it up in the air and I think he is planning a small trip down to North Myrtle Beach sometime this week to check out our condo. That is the first time that we have ever had a property in danger of a Hurricane. That is a different feeling and I can’t imagine how hard it is for those who live along the coast. We did receive a message from the Avista Resort saying that they went in and checked out our unit and everything looks fine. Whew! That was good news. I know that we have Hurricane insurance but you never know how good your insurance really is until you need to use it. I hope that those who were affected at least have insurance. I have heard so many horror stories before where people have lost everything and had no insurance. I can understand how that happens. A small river runs in front of our house and the flood insurance was really high and had to be paid all at once. I understand how people couldn’t afford to hand over such a large chunk of money at once. I have all of them and the workers who are helping to clean up the damage in my prayers.
I absolutely love the colors on this off the shoulder top. The deep terracotta color background is the perfect setting for the bright turquoise and maize colors. This top is from Karen Kane and I bought it at a local boutique in town called Elaine’s. I like the relaxed style of this top and even the drawstring waistline that helps it not to look so big and baggy. This is 100% Viscose so that means Dry Clean only which is the only downside to me. I just don’t have a dry cleaner on every corner like some of you might have so it is a bit more of a pain for me. Some of you have told me that you have a hard time wearing an off the shoulder look so you might want to check out this style here instead. Also, here is a plus size top in the same fabric but just a little different style.
I only have on a small amount of jewelry with this look. I am wearing the Ciara gold filigree earrings and the Mary Ellen bracelet. The Ciara earrings are gold metal and very lightweight. They have a 3″ drop which is stunning but not too over-the-top. The Mary Ellen bracelet is gold metal also and features a beaded tassel. You will love both of these items and you will find lots to wear with them. I have been celebrating my 3 year blog anniversary by offering a free piece of jewelry with every 50.00 purchase (excluding taxes and shipping) for this entire month! Go here and have fun shopping! Make sure that you pick a party with my name in it so that I can track the purchases. You will love the new fall collection! I placed an order while I was in New Orleans and I can’t wait for it to arrive.
My pants are also from Karen Kane and I bought them at the same time as the top. I love this color for fall. It is a deeper tan or a deep sand color. I am not sure what the official color name is but I do like it. I couldn’t find these pants on their website but I did find some that were very similar for you. I already have a couple pair of pants in this color but one is a corduroy and one is a chino style. This one has the spandex material in it so it is more like a legging style. Yes, I need them all. Lol!
This entire week, I am going to be asking a different question and everyone who comments will be entered into a drawing for a Vince Camuto Vegan Leather Tote. Today’s question is: what have you tried and sucked at, but now you good at it?

Beautiful outfit. Love the colors. When I started golfing around age 50 everyone on the golf course was in danger!! I was hitting balls all over the place. It was so embarrassing!! However I persisted as I would have been a golf widow otherwise?. Now, while not great, I am playing fairly well and can’t wait to get on the golf course.
Crafts- making greeting cards with rubber stamps and scrapbooking.
I would have to say that the one thing I really sucked at when I first started and now am much better and doing well with it. 🙂
Physical games. Softball. Pickleball, tennis, golf, you name it.
I am so ready for fall and the cooler temps., it’s my favorite time of the year. My husband was in the military for 26 years so we moved every two or three years. The first move we made was a complete disaster, but after 10 moves I can say I pretty much mastered the organization that it takes to have a successful move.
I’ve tried knitting several times over the year without much success! But now, I’m just about ready to finish a beautiful blue scarf to wear this Winter. It’s relaxing and fun to do!!
I think the thing I have learned to do well over the years is sewing. My mother-in-law who passed away in 2002 taught me the basics when I had my daughter. I made all her little dresses when she was growing up. Now I enjoy making them for my granddaughters. My sewing technique has definitely improved over the years!
I love this outfit!! I can think of soooo many things that have taken patience, practice & perserverance….backing up a trailer is probably the thing I can do that I am most proud of !
Glad your new condo was spared from the storm, and wishes for a safe journey to Joe when he visits it. We had to drive to our WI getaway condo to check on it after learning they had 18 inches of accumulated rain and 70 mph winds. 100 trees were felled on the half mile condo development. Yet luckily only 2 were lost near our building. Our condo (top floor w/skylight) was fine luckily. Although some lower level ones had flood damage and 2 buildings got damaged by falling trees. So, you can be inland- in Wisconsin – and still get lots of water. Although that was a record amount.
Anyway, I’m better at solving minor tech issues than I once was. I work from home for a corporation so I have to solve a variety of tech issues to connect remotely w/the company, and to remotely train for new skills/responsibilities with them. I didn’t know I had it in me to do any of this! But I’m at least I’m holding my own now, so to speak. Plus my hubby helps too where he can. I’m still not tech savvy though! Just better. LOL
Well, I’ll have to jump on the cooking train, here. But really, I cooked out of a box for the first few years of our marriage! Now, there are times I don’t even need a recipe – progress! P.S. Love the colour scheme of that top – bold but lovely and not too agressive.
I absolutely love the colors in your top! I used to stink at public speaking and while I’m still not great at it I am a lot better than I was.
I guess I would have to say my job. I am an MRI tech and didn’t know anything at first. Through the years I have turned into a great technologist with great troubleshooting skills. I am also great with patients.
Love the outfit! Fall is my favorite season here in NY.
Being a professional genealogist, I am extremely introverted. Happy to work quietly on my computer or tucked into the corner of a library. I was roped into teaching a class a couple years ago that should have lasted an hour but with my nerves and quick talking, it was done in 20 min., lol! I was mortified. Since then I’ve challenged myself to do more public speaking and now I’m comfortable doing presentations in front of am audience. ☺
Hi Tania,
I live in Ontario Canada and we have beautiful fall seasons here.
Your top is lovely and right away I thought of fall colours.
I enjoy your posts everyday and enjoy your sunny outlook on life itself. You are inspiring!
I am also like you…..Many things I would not try to do and was always afraid of failure. I have learnt
over many years that if you don’t try you will never know what you can accomplish. So try, try again.
There is nothing wrong with not succeeding but there is with not giving it a go, that would be a failure.
I remember how hard it was for my parents , sister and I to start out lives in aa strange country.
We came from England and left behind lots of family and friends. My parents were determined to give
us a nice life here in Canada and they succeed. It was scary for them I’m sure.
One thing for sure there is always tomorrow and you can give things another go.
Think positive thoughts!
Thank you again for your wonderful blogs. Enjoy what you talk about and all those lovely fashions.

This is a very difficult question for me. I don’t see myself as great at anything. I do however love photography & have taken a couple of classes. I love taking pictures of my grandchildren & feel proud when they hang on my children’s walls.
Growing up I was super shy and wouldnt even speak to people in the halls at school, or play volleyball at our family bbq’s! Now I’m at Greeter and a Section Host at church and I walk around shaking hands w everyone and telling them hello and asking if they need any help. Still not very good at volleyball tho!?
I love your top! I’m all about cold shoulder.
I love this whole outfit on you. I always sucked at sticking to a diet. I started the Keto way of eating on August 5 and I am down 25 pounds. Only 14 pounds to my goal weight. Really proud that I have stuck with it.
Love the top. I started tap dancing 2 years ago at age 50. I sucked at first but stuck with it and am starting my third year soon. It is so much fun
This outfit looks so ready for fall! I have been holding on to summer so tightly this year for some reason. I hate the idea of packing away my sandals and bringing out boots. This is a great transitional outfit that I could see myself wearing. I think the butterscotch color pants are just the thing I need to add to my wardrobe to ease myself into dressing for fall.
The one thing I have learned over the years is there is more than one right way to do things! Trying anything new takes patience and persistence. Getting good at something usually means you have a passion for learning how to do it and you did not allow yourself to get frustrated in the process along the way.
Your blog has been such an inspiration for me. I have been following you for 2 years now! I just love you to pieces for being a light for other ladies trying to live their life to the fullest.
I wanted to ride a motorcycle. I took the lessons and passed the course with no problem. But getting out on the road with all those big cars, well that took my confidence to a new low level. I continued to give it a go, but realized that without the where with all to overcome the cars….I sucked at it.

LOVE this outfit! I am so ready for fall! I love the colors the season brings and can’t wait to add. Something similar to this outfit to my own wardrobe! Your question today really made me put my thinking cap on. I’m going to really date myself but I do remember taking shorthand in high school and really struggling to learn the symbols and to build speed at it. I had the opportunity to take a job as a legal secretary and I was terrified because I was not good st shorthand. I told my new boss of my fears and he was so great and helped me work through my fears. Over time I became proficient in this skill and learned to even enjoy it. Sometimes, even today, I find myself making my grocery list in shorthand!!
Sucked at running for about 6 months but kept at it and now its been 7 yrs of running. Yes there are days where i still suck but many more days i am pretty darn good at it
I had Scarlet Fever and Rheumatic Fever within weeks of each other when I was three years old. They left me with mitro valve insuffiency (heart valve) and a hearing disability. The fever was so intense it damaged the nerve endings in my ears. I have managed to learn to read lips which helps but my disability is getting worse to the point that I will probably be completely deaf in a few years. I decided to take ASL (American Sign Language). I was so afraid to take the class because it is very difficult to learn. The instructors do not teach by speaking. You are immersed into the language by watching them sign. I am on my second class now. I won’t say that I am good, but I am getting better. I get so frustrated because I don’t catch on as quickly as in a normal classroom setting. I was afraid to try, but eventually I will get reasonably good at it. By the way, I am vegan and I love the purse! Thank you for all your inspiration.
Great outfit Tania, love the colors in the top.
Wow this shouldn’t be that difficult of a question for me but sadly it is. Though my cooking has certainly improved over the years I can’t say that I’ve nailed it yet. It’s never too late right ?
When Mike and I first married I was a terrible cook.He was so sweet about it,ate it anyway, and I slowly became better at it.Most things just take practice.Love the blouse today!
I LOVE this outfit on you. The colors are amazing. IDK if you have tried the “dry cleaning” sheets that they sell in the store, but those work great, without having to run to the cleaners all the time. If they don’t sell them where you are, let me know. I can ship ya some. : )
I teach English to adults in Austria, where I’ve lived for the last 18 years (transplanted from Texas). Anyone who has ever attempted to learn a foreign language has certainly experienced that hopeless feeling of never getting anywhere with the new language. But you keep trying, and making mistakes, eventually getting over your inhibitions and then one day a whole new world has opened up for you! I’ve been through that myself in having to learn Spanish and German, and now as a language teacher, I see my students go through that every day. But having a supportive teacher goes a long way towards helping you reach that goal.
I would say cooking. Cooking shows really helped me in this area. I love to cook and I feel I am a much better cook than I was when I first started many years ago.
Love the colors in this top…especially for fall! I have to say that being a farm wife you have to learn many things but the one thing that I always panicked about was having to run equipment for harvest. I would make myself sick from worrying about driving the grain cart to catch grain and then having to bring it in to unload and starting up the augers on the bin and tractors and oh how many times I circled around just to get closer to the wagon so the grain would go in and not over it and now….I don’t want to miss a day of being out there alongside my hubby and enjoying all the Fall colors while I’m in the field and I can get pulled up to the wagon to unload on the first try so yes…sometimes you have to believe in yourself to make it happen.
Hmmm….simple question but difficult to answer! I guess I don’t consider myself being great at much. Fairly recently started knitting and made many mistakes. I’m fairly good at it now but don’t consider myself great at it.
Love your outfit. The colors are gorgeous.
I guess cooking would be something I was not at all good at. But after 33 years of marriage I can honestly say I’m much better at it now. I really enjoy it now too. Hope you have a great day.
I am a professional seamstress. I alter and make custom clothing, specializing in bridal. I have been sewing since I was 12 (48 Years) but started in bridal about 25 years ago. Those first bridal gowns were challenging and it took me a few tries to get them fitting correctly. But with determination and perseverance I have become a respected and sought out. But my biggest accomplishment has been learning to deal with all personalities. The key to that is accepting each bride, just as she is……a child of God.
LOVE the colors in this outfit! I’m one that couldn’t wear off the shoulder and appreciate you finding us alternatives. ♥️ The first thing that comes to mind that I wasn’t good at is playing the piano. But, with the Lord’s help and practice over the years, I get compliments all the time from people who enjoy my playing the piano in church.? I’m so thankful I never gave up.
What an inspirational thought! So true, we usually suck at almost everything but get better with practice. Cooking in general and knowing how to season food was a huge challenge. My husbands mother was a very good cook. I hung in there and am really very good at it now.
I’m not sure I’ve tried anything new without sucking at it the first time, albeit a new game, a new job, or trying a new art project. I just keep trying until I get it right, or realize that ‘its not my “gift. ” After years of practice, I now make beautful door wreaths and sell them online.
Wow, great colors on you once sgain!! I love Autumn!! ??One of my favorite seasons. I just hope we get to see some of that beautiful fall foliage this year.
I happy for you that everything is alright with your condo. It’s so sad for those people who have lost everything. Safe travels to Joe on his trip!!
I love these colors on you! So pretty!!
It was fun reading the comments from yesterday. I should have said my hubby is my person too, I’m fortunate to have a handful of people who are my person, plus the God has my back. They’ve all been there in special ways.
When I was young I hated running. After I turned 50, I entered 2 5ks a year and continue to do so! I aksa wasn’t good in school, but by the grace of God, I completed college, abd recently took a test to become a Notary and scored a 98!
Have a blessed day! ❤️
Tania, you look beautiful as always.?
I cannot think of a great answer to your question.?. I am not really great at anything.?. I guess I would say running/jogging. Early on, I would take a few steps and suffer from side pain and have to stop. Over the years, that went away, and I can make it a few miles now. ?
Have a great day.
Love that outfit on you, get color combo! and especially like the draw string in the top! Have a great day sweet friend!!
Beautiful fall outfit on you. LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog.
Autumn has set in here in the UK with a vengeance. It has forced me to put away my colourful summer wardrobe and bring out the Autumn, winter is lurking in the background.
Finding heavier weight trousers/leggings in brighter colours to black/Brown or navy is practically impossible. If any of your UK readers know of shops that do I would really appreciate hearing Rom them
