Talbots Summer Try-On Haul For Women Over 50
Well, this is good timing! On Monday, I drove to my local Talbots to do a summer try-on haul for women over 50. Talbots is my husband’s favorite retailer, so he never grumbles when I come home with a bag full of Talbots clothing. Yesterday, Talbots announced their 4th of July Sale, and all of my picks are included.
Summer Try-On Haul For Women Over 50
I love these palm-printed chino pants. Printed pants are trending, and I’m seeing them everywhere. This pair fits great and aren’t too heavy for summer. I thought the Biscayne Blue 3/4 sleeve cardigan matched the pants perfectly, and is so soft against my skin. You can wear the cardigan completely buttoned as a shirt or layer it over a tank or tee. I’m wearing a large in the cardigan and an 8 in the pants.
A one-and-done outfit is my favorite. It reminds me of a casserole dish; one item is all you need to satisfy you. Lol! This gorgeous maxi dress is a stretchy jersey material that allows you to move about with ease. I have the pink and white LINEN GIRLFRIEND CARDIGAN which is very lightweight, and either color would look perfect with this dress. I’m wearing a large, and it fits great.
How do you like this Tennessee orange poplin dress? The blue and orange color combination is stunning, and it grabbed my attention as soon as I walked into the store. The poplin material is lightweight and shouldn’t be hot in the summer. The puff sleeves are another visual detail that is sure to make this dress a standout. I wear a size 12 in dresses from most retailers, but the size 10 fit me perfectly.
Don’t you just love a simple outfit that is striking? Oh, and did I mention that it is also made from a non-iron fabric? I left the store without this outfit, so I was thrilled to see it was included in the sale. Both of these items are now on their way to my house where I know I’ll be wearing them a lot. The non-iron perfect shirt is also available in black and white, gingham, and the orange and blue print from above.

Crocheted anything is trending this year. I even saw a pair of crocheted sneakers at Walmart. I like all the bright and summery colors of this pullover sweater. It does have holes, so you might want to add a camisole of a collared shirt under it, but I didn’t feel like you could see through it. I paired it with a pair of white cotton/spandex shorts that comes with a rope belt. They are a 6″ length, and I thought they would look great with LOTS of tops this summer.
Orange you glad I included this lively button-up shirt in my summer try-on haul for women over 50? Lol! Even though this shirt is the star of this outfit, it wasn’t what I started with. I’m in a yellow phase right now, and these daisy-yellow ankle jeans caught my eye. I love the soft shade of yellow I would probably pair them with navy or white tops. This shirt was hanging near them, so I thought I would see how they looked together. What do you think? Do you like the look, or is it a little too much?
This is another everyday look that I could see myself wearing around the house or running errands. The blue and white striped shell is lightweight and roomy, which is a perfect combination for a summer top. The top would be great to wear for the 4th of July with a pair of white or denim shorts. The shorts are longer than I normally wear at 10.5″, but I decided to try them on to see how they looked.
Speaking of the 4th of July…this outfit would be a smashing success. I love the navy sweater with the white stars, and the red trim at the neck is a nice touch. The sweater also has a nautical vibe, so you aren’t confined to wearing it only on the 4th, Memorial Day, or Labor Day. I paired it with these white linen pants, and I love the way the pants look and feel. The pants look dressy and polished, so you could wear them dressed up or down.
More Picks From The 4th Of July Sale
I’m sure glad that my husband loves Talbots because I see a huge box arriving at my house early next week. Heehee!

I love the orange and blue dress on you!! So flattering!
Hello Tania,
I wonder if you would ever consider doing a “try-on haul” of vintage dresses-those like Jackie Kennedy wore. I think the style of dresses she wore would look good on everyone and the necklines of those styles of dresses are flattering and unique, especially the bateau, jewel or rolled neckline (I’m not sure of the proper name for it.).
I appreciate your posts and have bought a few things based on your recommendations, including my now favorite tan wedges. 🙂

Just ordered the Montauk pants and top! Talbots always has high quality items at a good price. One of my favorite stores!
Love the Joe story! The first Talbots outfit is my favorite, but they all look fabulous. Thanks for showcasing Talbots for us.
Good morning Tania. It’s Lisa from Gulfport, MS. I love seeing your try-on hauls. The yellow pants and top are so pretty and vibrant. I think that outfit was a keeper for you. My other favorite on you is the Montauk navy pants with the no-iron sleeveless top. It looked fabulous on you. I think you should go back and purchase it 😊. Both outfits are what I love as well. We have a Talbots Outlet Store here I shop there sometimes. Love their cloths. Looking forward to your shopping try-ons and showing us new looks. God Bless!
Love your posts and read them daily. Thank you for your great suggestions and love that you let everyone know about a good sale! Hoping for some ideas of what to wear to country music festivals this summer and fall? Something fun and age appropriate ( not short and skimpy) 🤞Carrie W

Talbots…my favorite store ever! You look terrific in all of the outfits!
Good morning, Tania! I shop at Talbots periodically, so it was fun to see your post. You asked about the yellow pants and bright shirt; I love it! I’m so glad you tried thes on because it takes me back to what first attracted me to your blog, which was all the bright colors. You combined colors so well and the bright colors compliment your hair and skin tone best. It was always interesting to see the unique color combinations you would create! I’d love to see these again and I also think the yellow outfit is a keeper for you. 😊. On another note, where did you find your phone case with the finger holder? I had one, but after getting a new phone, I haven’t been able to fine one. Thanks for your assistance and for your enjoyable blog!
I love bright colors, and I go through phases on what colors I’m wearing. Yellow is having a moment for me. Lol! The phone case is a Loopy case. https://www.loopycases.com/
