HOW TO STYLE LEGGINGS THREE DIFFERENT WAYS
Did you have a wonderful Christmas? I hope everyone’s day was Merry and Bright, and that Santa remembered you this year. But, now it is time to get back to work, and I’m having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. There is only ONE week left in this year, so it is time to start making plans for next year. Do you believe in writing down what your year is going to look like?
You write down all of the things that “happened” in the year like you were reading it at this time next year. An example might be, “my daughter moved back to Virginia to work with me on the blog, and she has been a huge help.” While that is something that hasn’t happened yet, it is something that I am hoping will happen this coming year. Instead, of writing that I’m hoping it will happen, you write that it did happen.
I’m sure there are names for doing exercises like these, and I have no idea what the percentage would be of things actually happening. But, it is fun to write down your hopes and dreams as if they have already happened. It trains your brain to work toward your goals, and my brain sure needs to be trained. I can’t wait to write down, “I have been so focused this year, and it has freed up lots of time for me!”
Instead of continuing to ramble, I am going to FOCUS on the task at hand which is telling you about this outfit. Actually, it is telling you about several different variations of this outfit. Someone mentioned that they love it when I show several different ways to wear one item, so I’m going to try and do that more. When things I do are helpful to you, please let me know so that I know to keep incorporating that into the blog.
I just got this oversized turtleneck tunic sweater in on Thursday, and I couldn’t wait to try it on. This color is called Hazlenut, and it is a gorgeous brown that matches my Christmas decorations perfectly! That is what Bob Ross and I call a “happy little accident.” This sweater looks and feels like it costs WAAAY more than it did, and I love the large ribbing on the hem, turtleneck, and cuffs. Since the sweater is made to be oversized, the arms are long. You can leave them long which is a trending look, or you can cuff them to a length you like better. I’m wearing a medium that fits like it was intended, but I could have worn a smaller size without any issue.
I liked the half-tuck look, but I wanted to show you how the sweater looks when worn like a tunic. There are probably times when I would want to wear the tunic length, but today I did the half-tuck because I wanted to show my pants more.
The tunic length is great for wearing with leggings, and it covers up your behind nicely. This is a great shot of the oversized ribbing on the hem, and I love that detail!!!
When I wear a chunky sweater, especially a tunic-length one, I like to wear a longer necklace. This Leopard necklace has a vintage vibe and I think that I’ve had a brooch similar to this in the past. This is a heavyweight piece and it is of great quality. I love that the spots of the leopard are rhinestones that give off a little sparkle.
The large statement hoop earrings that I wear all of the time are sold out on Kendra Scott. It took me forever to find them since most retailers are sold out, but I finally located someone that has them in stock. The pricing is the same as on the Kendra Scott website, so they won’t cost you any extra. The remaining jewelry that I’m wearing were gifts. My Cable Loop David Yurman bracelet is one that I wear often, especially since it incorporates both silver and gold into one piece. The ring that I’m wearing is a 5.5 Love Ring by Cartier. I don’t wear this ring often because it is a tiny bit big, especially now that I’ve lost some weight.
I have several faux-leather pants, jeggings, and leggings, but I think these might be my favorite pair. My SPANX pair is gorgeous, but they are very compressive and tight. I wore them back in March when I did a post and talked about the rules for wearing faux leather leggings. I wore a pair from Nordstrom earlier this fall, but they were too big on me, and the smaller size was already sold out.
When I saw these Vince Camuto faux leather leggings, I quickly ordered a medium and crossed my fingers that they would fit. They fit great!!! They are not too tight and not too loose, and they don’t ride down when I sit down. Just because we are not 35 doesn’t mean that we can’t wear faux leather.
I’m sorry that I couldn’t get a good photo of these fringe ankle boots. Every photo of the boots are blurry since I was moving, or you couldn’t see the fringe. These boots are so nice, super cute, and the fringe detail makes them a KEEPER! You know how I love unique details, and the fringe is perfect for a subtle detail that will help you to stand out from the crowd.
Here is a screenshot of the boots from the website so you can see the details better. The ankle boots have a square toe, and a 3 1/4 stacked heel. I like that they zip on the side to make it easier to put them on and take them off. I read in the description that they ran small, so I sized up to a 9.5 instead of my regular size 9 and they fit great.
Did you see my Christmas Day post? If so, then you saw several photos of Joe and me, and if you noticed, I was wearing this outfit.
I’ve worn this faux-fur vest several times since I bought it last month. It is a gorgeous deep, rich color, and just look at the sheen on this vest. This vest is not inexpensive, but it looks and feels luxurious so I feel like I got what I paid for.
The vest looks great with black, brown, and jeans, plus I wore it with a dress earlier this week. I’m wearing a size 1 and it fits great, even over the top of this chunky sweater.
Although I liked the fringe ankle boots, I thought that the vest looked dressier and that it needed a different boot. I bought these boots in early fall, and I can’t believe that I’ve not shown them to you already. These suede knee boots are probably the most expensive pair of shoes that I’ve ever bought, so I’ll have to were them for years to come.
These boots have been on sale for a while, so the sizes are limited. However, they have a new version that has plenty of sizes if these speak to you. I ordered my usual size and they fit perfectly, even the calves are plenty big!
To change things up a little more, I added a long black cardigan (this one is old) and a pair of animal print shoes. Small changes can really make a difference in your looks, you just need to play around with different items and see what you like. Here are some similar cardigans since mine is no longer available.
There are times when I want to wear heels instead of boots. I especially like wearing heels with my faux-leather pants because it makes them look dressy. Red is a shoe choice that I make a lot when wearing a black outfit, but I chose to wear animal print today. These haircalf heels are from last year, so they are no longer available online. Here are some similar options that you might like.

Im only wear leggings at home but this article let me to look with other eyes to leggings………🤔
Thank you so much for sharing! I notice that you like to keep the rear covered but you don’t worry about the front. I am new to wearing leggings so all your advice is appreciated. I noticed some time back all of the beautiful and colourful tunics that you have worn, just gorgeous!
Loretta, it really depends on the thickness of the leggings. I don’t worry about covering anything if the leggings are a heavy Ponte knit, but if they are thin, then I try to cover up.
I especially love your look with the long cardigan…. You do inspire me to look at my clothes differently and to try out different ways to change my outfits…. Thank you, I look forward to all your posts
I’m excited to be here!! I have followed your pins for a long time. Can’t wait for all that is in store!
Love that sweater. I had a similar green one years ago. Dishwasher detergent splashed on it & bleached spots to pink. I’ve been wanting another one ever since!
Oh no! I hate it when things like that happen!!!
I love the brown of that sweater. I’m thinking it would look good with a lot of things. Still not going near leather pants. I like leather on top but not on bottom. Out of my comfort zone. Gladiator heels and sheer blouses in that zone. But you look fabulous in anything. “To thine own body be true.”
The brown is a gorgeous color that will go with lots of different things. I had to laugh at your comment about the pants.
Hi Tania! Love your blog! Love the Leggings. I’ve kind of got a muscular build in the legs so I have a tough time wearing them. One can only dream! Glad you had a nice Christmas with your family. So glad yiu finally showed us a picture of you and Joe. It has been so warm here I have gone back to layering with my short sleeve tees. I live in North Carolina on the border of Virginia near Danville and Martinsville. Our next 5 days will be in the 70’s no chunky sweaters for me. How is the weather where you are? Hope you have a Great Day and Great and Blessed 2022. 🎉❤🎉
I just looked at our weather forecast, and it is supposed to be 67 on January 1st. Lol! That is crazy! 🤪
LOVE the animal print heels with any of the versions you posted today! Classy & sassy!

Love the wear 3 ways post. Loved seeing Joe too. Merry Christmas
HI Tania, I looked high and low to find an over 50 fashion blog that was just right, not too old and frumpy and not too edgy. I just love your style. I can’t wear all your high heels but besides that I just love, love, love! I can not master the half tuck. Does it only work for ladies with a flat stomach? Please help.
