SOMETIMES A SIMPLE OUTFIT IS THE BEST
Happy Friday!!! Today is one of my favorite days on the blog, it is when I am introducing you to another blogger friend. You are going to love meeting Mary Murnane if you haven’t already had the pleasure of seeing her blog. Some of you might recognize the name since she is an Emmy Award-winning TV news reporter and anchor in the Chicago area. She began sharing about her life via the blogging world in 2011 and she is the epitome of style and grace. I know you will love seeing her style and reading about her life.
The sun came out today, and it made my spirit sing. The temperature is still chilly, but the sun being out made a huge difference is the way that I feel. I am the same way when it comes to the colors that I choose to wear. If I am feeling down in the dumps, I can add a bright color to my outfit and my mood will improve. It is hard to be down when you are wearing bright yellow. The same is true and sitting in the sun, it is almost impossible not to feel better when the sun is shining down on you. I know that sunlight increases your serotonin levels but I am not sure why some colors can elevate your mood. Maybe some of you can enlighten me…get it? En-light-en me. Lol!!!
I crack myself up. Lol! As I said, it is still a little chilly outside, so I added a linen blazer to my look. This light beige neutral jacket is one that I have had for a long time, and I wear it often. This is the perfect weight for keeping the chill at bay in the spring, but it is not too hot to wear in the summer. It is especially a great purchase since linen is a classic fabric that will probably always stay in style, plus a neutral can be worn with anything.
Gurls, I am so thrilled with my new Matte Vert Jade necklace c/o French Kande. French Kande is exquisite handmade jewelry from Artisans in California, and I was excited when they contacted me about their jewelry. I have seen other bloggers wear this brand so I was anxious to try a necklace. The quality of this piece is exceptional, and the 8mm stones are beautiful. I have loved Jade for a very long time, ever since my grandmother gave me a Jade ring when I was young. Jade is a semi-precious stone that has been associated with healing and purification. It has nourishing energy, much like my bright colors, and it makes me feel good when I wear it.
Each stone is strung together with brass wire and then the double cross pendant is sterling silver and brass plated. I really like the chain tassel that completes the necklace, it gives the piece a lot of movement. The necklace is 38″ long, and it is perfect for layering or wearing by itself. I already have my eye on several more pieces, this one really caught my eye.
Just look at the variations in the stones. I love the different colorations and veining in each one. This is the type piece that you will have for a lifetime, and who knows, this might be the Jade piece that I leave to my granddaughter one day. This is a simple outfit. It consists of a pair of flared jeans, a camisole, and a blazer. This is my favorite kind of outfit, simple and put together. These are the same flared jeans that I wore in this outfit here. I have a feeling that you will see me wearing these jeans a lot in the coming months. The jeans have a high waist, which I like, and the flare is smaller than some jeans that I have seen. That is one reason why I like this pair, it allows me to ease into the flared look without being overpowering. The platform wedge shoes add to the ’70s inspired look of the jeans. I also came across some of the first photos that I took when I started the blog in 2015. This has been 3 1/2 years ago, and I can say that I am pleased with the way that I look now in comparison with the way I looked then. If you have wondered if Rodan + Fields works…here is your proof. I love your outfits and always look forward to your emails! With summer not too far away I always try to find shorts I actually feel comfortable in. Which is hard to do. However, living in the Midwest not only does it get hot it is very humid as well. Any good suggestions? Where to shop? I am 47 so I am always looking for things that do not look to young. I am sure you understand where I am coming from.
Kerry, I am starting to look for shorts and summer clothes myself. If I find any that I love, I will do a post on them. I need to work on my white legs before I find any. Lol!

I really like this outfit. It would be one I would reach for often. I agree about colour. Living in a cold climate that is often overcast, I need colour every day to feel good.
I was talking to a friend on Tuesday, and she told me that it was a -24 celsius. I can’t imagine how you keep your energy level up in those kind of temperatures.
