50 IS NOT OLD | REAL AND HONESTWhen I first started this blog I never envisioned that anyone would ever find it much less actually follow me. I really thought in the back of my mind that it would serve as a lookbook. I would be able to take pictures of my outfits and rate them on how well I liked them. I would have a visual reference for outfits I wanted to replicate and for “those” others that would never see the light of day again.50 IS NOT OLD | REAL AND HONESTGuess which category this outfit would be in. This would go in the never to be replicated again pile!!! Some of the first comments I received when I first started were things like “your a real person.” I didn’t understand what that meant at first because all the bloggers are “real” people. Then it finally dawned on me what you were saying, you were saying that I am normal, I make mistakes, I am not a Stepford Wife. You would be right, I work every day so the outfits you see me in are the ones I wore to work that day. I don’t have the luxury of taking my pictures and then editing them right then. I edit them when I get home and there are many times when I wish I had a re-do. However, it is too late by then and I have a post to write. You will occasionally get a sour note if you follow my blog but then you probably are already aware of that. Hahaha 50 IS NOT OLD | REAL AND HONESTI’ll just go ahead and jump into what I don’t like about this outfit. I don’t like the sweater! In fact, I didn’t like the sweater when I had it on so I have no idea why I didn’t change it then. I must have just been stubborn. I don’t like the color and I don’t like the band at the bottom. But none of that matters now because I wore the stupid thing. I am not even going to tell you where you can buy one like it. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | REAL AND HONESTI do like the infinity scarf but I didn’t notice that I didn’t have it pulled together good. I don’t like the separation between the two layers so that you can see the sweater. This scarf in a dark burgundy and it has little puckers all over it. I bought the scarf last year at Cato’s but here are some that are similar and not one of them is over 14.00.

50 IS NOT OLD | REAL AND HONESTThe camel colored pants are Old Navy Pixie pants. These are the longer length version but it wouldn’t matter since I paired them with my knee boots. I wear cropped pants and ankle pants with knee boots, that way I get more wear out of my purchases.

50 IS NOT OLD | REAL AND HONESTI bought my quilted vest last year from a little boutique up the road. I looked back to where I wore the vest last year (here) and was shocked when I read that it had a hood that I had detached. What? I didn’t even remember that it had a hood. Lol! The vest is fur lined, which I love, and that helps to keep you warm. The olive color and the leather accents are really in style right now.

50 IS NOT OLD | REAL AND HONESTI am thankful that you have chosen to follow me on my blog journey. I may not always “hit it out of the park” but I will always show you affordable fashions that you can replicate for yourself. I am a “real” person and I will show you the good, the bad, and the ugly. Haha! At least you know I am honest.

  1. Tania, I wouldn’t care if you posted a pic of you in your bathrobe and hair curlers….. I would still love it! You inspire me every day! I look forward each morning to checking in with your page and seeing what cute outfit you have put together. You are an awesome teacher!

  2. I have to admit, my first thought was the sweater also, before I even started to read your post…lol…you know what to do with that sweater now…love your vest and everything else! Merry Christmas to you and your family! ?

You did a blog on how to pose for pictures. Will you please repeat that?

  4. So many other ladies have said what I think: you give us an enjoyable read and not every outfit is a winner. So what! No one cares, we love you being honest! Merry Christmas sweet Tania!

  5. I’m so glad to have found your blog, Tania, because you are such a breath of fresh air. Your posts are always so much fun to read and you always look great!! Love your style and personality!

  6. I’m so glad I found your blog. You have given me so many idea’s. I am seventy five and live in a small town so I haven’t had the nerve to try boots. I would like to know where you keep all your clothes. That’s a lot of clothes in one year.

  7. I agree with Donna and Deb. I love the monochromatic look and the combination of the camel with the burgundy accents. I do understand what you mean about the sweater, though. I am not a fan of that sweater/sweatshirt style that has the band across the hips. It creates a horizontal line at a place on the body where I don’t need to draw attention, lol! You are such a breath of fresh air in the fashion blog world, Tania. I’m so glad I found you. Please keep doing what you are doing. I need to know how to put together a nice outfit affordably, maybe using things I may already have in my closet, not from what’s on sale at Nordstrom this week, unless it’s an occasional splurge. Thanks for keeping it real. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  8. Well, what I do like about your blog is that you are a ‘real’ person – not a professional model, but one who goes to work, comes home, works some more and yet makes time to do ‘fun stuff’ with her husband, grandkids, kids and friends. You are one busy gal, but then most of us working moms are, and that’s what appeals to many of us – we just don’t post what we wear to work or school every day, but take inspiration from what YOU pull out of the closet and put together. And if the outfit isn’t a ‘win’, well, some of ours are not either, and that’s OK. I look forward to your daily postings as well as your mini-lesson on Sunday. Keep up the good work. You are appreciated by many !

  9. I like the individual pieces of the outfit and actually think it’s all fine together. The sweater is not a color I’m used to seeing you wear. I love it when you wear bright colors? Don’t be hard on yourself, you do way better than the rest of us!

I enjoy your blog and most of your color combinations – especially if the pieces are in the same warm/cool family -tonally pleasing I know that the new trend is mixing it up…but it’s something that I think throws off the quest for a cohesive look and sometimes you just can’t put your finger on it. In this outfit…it was the 5-7 colors of different warm/cool tones that threw me– the purse/scarf with the different burgundy/purples and the cool toned sweater/jewelry with the multiple warm beige colors and the olive. JMHO and not a criticism of you or your blog.
