Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, Our Blessed Redeemer!
Next Sunday is Christmas Eve. With Christmas almost being here, I’ve been thinking a lot about Jesus and how he came into the world just for us. At night, when I wake up, there are always two songs that are on repeat in my brain. The first is Holy, Holy, Holy, and the second is Praise Him! Praise Him! It seems I like songs that have repeating words in the title.
When I’m anxious or my mind is racing, I sing Holy, Holy, Holy. I love the song, and I sing it in my mind much slower than I’ve heard it before. I usually only sing one verse, and I’ll sing it over and over again.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning, our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful, and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
This song calms me down, and I am able to drift back off to sleep. Knowing that the Lord is with me takes away my anxious thoughts and reminds me who is in control and that it is NOT me.
Some nights I wake up with Praise Him! Praise Him! on my mind. This is the song that is on repeat right now, and I think that Christmas might be the reason. I grew up hearing this song in church, and I always think of my grandmother when I hear it. She had a loud, very shrill voice, so she could be heard above the entire congregation when we sang. It is funny that I was embarrassed as a child to hear her sing, and now it is one of my favorite memories of her.
There are so many reasons to praise the Lord! Here are a few that I wanted to highlight.
Creator of the Universe
CAN YOU IMAGINE??? I always praise the Lord for His wonderful creation and for letting me experience this gorgeous world. There are times when I look around me, and I’m filled with awe at how the Lord spoke this into existence. He created earth, and ALL creatures, including you and me.
Isaiah 40:28
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
Light of the World
This world is full of darkness, and I am thankful that the Lord is the light of the world. He will guide us, and we never have to be consumed by the darkness that is all around us. I like to feel like the Lord is my force field, and I am encapsulated in a bubble that is impenetrable.
John 8:12
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Redeemer
Thank you, Lord, for your redeeming blood. Without His sacrifice, we wouldn’t have a chance to spend eternity in Heaven. His grace and forgiveness, along with the blood of The Lamb, is our only chance since we are all sinners.
Ephesians 1:7
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
Advocate
I can’t tell you how many times I interceeded for my children when they were young. When they messed up, which was more times than I can count, I would talk to Joe and intercede on their part. By the time the children came to him, he had already thought about the issue and was ready to receive them in a calm and understanding manner. (most of the time) If Joe and I did that for our children, can you imagine how much more the Lord would do for us?
Romans 8:34
34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
These are just a few reasons to praise the Lord, and I want to make today an interactive post. List some of the reasons YOU praise the Lord. I love hearing stories of how the Lord has shown up in your lives. Your testimonies speak volumes. If you want to keep your name private, enter a different name or a code. No one can see your email address, so don’t worry about that.
To GOD Goes The Glory!
Have A Blessed Day!
I praise the Lord because I live in the beautiful woods and just because he is Lord. Anonymous
So very thankful for God’s creation, and for family! We are with our grown children and spouses this week in Wyoming. Our first time to visit Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Wow! I cannot stop praising the Lord for his beautiful creation, and for the gift of family! I am so humbled and grateful!
When the sinner finds peace with God through the blood of Jesus, the Christian life has but just begun. Now he or she is to “go on unto perfection;” to grow up “unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” … Peter sets before us the steps by which Bible sanctification is to be attained: “Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity…. If ye do these things, ye shall never fall.
Thank you for this post Tania.
I am so very grateful for my family and friends.
We enjoyed a wonderful visit and lunch at home yesterday with our adult kids and it truly meant the world to me.
Last Christmas we were not able to be together because of illness and it really hurt, so this year was above and beyond special.
