50 IS NOT OLD | PLACE YOUR BID NOW | FASHION OVER 40Do you remember the post that I did last week where I talked about the book, “take my wife, please?” Well, I am rewriting that book to say HUSBAND instead of wife. If any of you want to place on a bid on a semi-used husband, I will entertain all offers. Let me tell you what Joe did Saturday, get comfortable and get ready to say, “no way, he surely didn’t do that.”50 IS NOT OLD | PLACE YOUR BID NOW | FASHION OVER 40I love vintage items, and I have slowly been collecting Fostoria glassware. I say slowly because that is how my mother has been giving it to me. Lol! When I go to Tennessee to visit my mom and dad, she will usually send me home with several pieces that she has found in her cupboards. One time when she sent a small box home with me, my car was loaded down, and I didn’t unpack the entire car for a while. I had a gentleman clean my car after I got back and he took the few things that I had in my car and sat them inside Joe’s building. The spring cleaning bug has bitten Joe and me, and we have been cleaning and organizing the entire past week. He was working in his building all day Saturday, and I was in the house with Emersyn most of the day. Emersyn and I went out to see what all he was doing out there and I made sure to tell him NOT to get rid of anything that was mine unless he asked me first. This is a pattern with him when he cleans, he gives away MY things and doesn’t ask. Late Saturday night he came in from outside and said, “I might have screwed up.” Those are never words that you want to hear your husband say to you. I raised my eyebrow and asked what he had done. He asked me if I had some clear cups in the building and I said that I did. “I might have thrown them in the dumpster” was what he told me. A few words were spoken, and I looked at Emersyn and told her that we weren’t mad. She told me that we looked mad. Lol! Joe left and then came back soaking wet. Did I mention that it was pouring the rain outside? He went back to the dumpster and had to climb down inside it to find the box of cups. This is a true tribute to how well vintage glassware was made because not one cup was broken. I would say that he learned his lesson about getting rid of my things, but I know better. Lol! Emersyn laughed and laughed and said, “Pa has been dumpster diving!!!”50 IS NOT OLD | PLACE YOUR BID NOW | FASHION OVER 40

I found this deep dark teal knit twist top at Trendy Threads, the local boutique in town, and I took it home to try on. I hardly ever try anything on in a store because I hate the whole process of taking off and putting back on. Anyway, I bought a large but when I tried it on it was too big, so I set it aside to take back. I looked around and noticed a bag that came from Trendy Threads on the other side of the room, so I went and looked inside. There was this very same top inside but in a medium, which fit perfectly by the way. I want to say that this is the first time something like this has happened, but I am afraid lightning would strike if I did. I love dark teal, especially in the fall and winter,

50 IS NOT OLD | PLACE YOUR BID NOW | FASHION OVER 40It looks like I have on my favorite earrings again. Lol! I can’t help it; I told you that the Jewel earrings go with anything, dressy or casual. I love the large silver pearl and the clear rhinestones. The set of 3 bracelets is the Maeve. These elastic bracelets feature beads and metal discs, and then each has a separate charm or tassel. I like that you can wear these bracelets as a group or one at a time.
50 IS NOT OLD | PLACE YOUR BID NOW | FASHION OVER 40Look how cute my scarf is that I got for Christmas from my Sister-In-Law. The scarf is by Spartina 449, and this one is called the Tennessee scarf. I loved this present, and I couldn’t wait to wear it. You can see Cookeville on the scarf, and that is about 15 minutes from my hometown, and it is where Joe and I met. You can check out Spartina 449 and see if they have a scarf that is where you are from; they have several different ones available. 50 IS NOT OLD | PLACE YOUR BID NOW | FASHION OVER 40I am in an old pair of blue jeans today. This pair is Earl jeans, and I bought them at TJ Maxx or Marshalls, I am not sure which. I wanted to wear a flat with today’s look, so I slipped on my Isaac Mizrahi navy suede ballet slipper. The ballet slipper is comfortable, but some of them have to be broken in first. This pair curled up when I bought them, and it took me wearing them several times before they relaxed and quit bothering me. Now they are one of the most comfortable flats that I own.

50 IS NOT OLD | PLACE YOUR BID NOW | FASHION OVER 40When is the last time that you had the opportunity to partner with a BILLION dollar company? Does that opportunity happen to you all the time? Look at my face closely, look at my skin, look at my lashes. Then, look in your cabinets and tell me if you have a lot of products stuffed in them that made big promises but didn’t follow through on them. Rodan + Fields is different. Their products WORK! Quit wasting time wondering and watching. Email me and let’s talk. fiftyisnotold@gmail.com

  1. I’m a little late replying – but I can sympathize with Joe almost getting rid of your antique glasses. My hubby recently cleaned out our bar cabinet. And gave away some tall antique etched pilsner type glasses I had stowed away from a late friend of ours. (I actually forget they were even there.) Still, when I found out they were gone, I was shocked. Days later I recovered and we both took a trip to the store he had randomly donated them to… and I found them still on a shelf for sale there – and bought them back! LOL – luckily they were a low price! Hubby learned a valuable lesson that day. “Always ask first before getting rid of stuff.”

    1. Good luck, Regina. This was not Joe’s first time with giving my things away. He has had to track down some of my things twice before. You would think that he would have learned his lesson but he hasn’t.

Bless his little heart. That’s either an indication of his deep love or fear of your wrath. And you look so sweet….

    1. HAHAHA! I guess looks can be deceiving.

  3. Joe’s a keeper. He ‘fessed up and then went out in the P.O. uring rain AND dug around in a dumpster to fetch a box of something he could care less about..but knew it was something YOU WANTED. Not all husbands would (1) fess up, (2) go out in the pouring rain, (3) dumpster dive, (4) be the brunt of his wife’s blog AND still come back home to face a less than happy wife. Just sayin…..

  4. A husband who cleans anything is PRICELESS! I think you better hang on to him.

  5. I think you should keep him! At least he is not old, with bad knees, a bad back and a bad heart!!!! LOL

    1. Lol! I guess you have a valid point. Hahaha!

  6. Love your outfit today! That top is such a pretty color and looks great on you. I think Joe is a keeper. He may mess up but seems like he makes thing right. ?

    1. I will give him credit for trying to make things right. He will admit when he messes up and lets the chips fall where they may.

  7. Michelle WIlliams says:

How about a trade? My husband does the same thing….he is like a shark in chum water when he gets on a cleaning spell. Wait, instead of a trade, keep ‘em both. Hahaha. Love the scarf, I will have to get one for my mom in Bristol.

    1. Haha, good try Michelle, but I think that I will let you keep YOURS. Lol!

  8. I love dark teal and you look good in that color. Cute scarf. I’ll have to find one for Kentucky. Poor Joe. I think he’s a keeper though since he retrieved the cups from dumpster. My mother has a ton of Fostoria. She gave it all to my daughter but it’s still boxed up sitting in my closet! Lol.

  9. Donna Wood says:

Love, love, love Spartina! I discovered them when visiting Charleston, SC several years ago. I have one of their little crossbody purses in the same style as your scarf. It is for my home state of Florida and it is adorable! You look great in that beautiful teal!

    1. I love their store too, Donna. They have such cute and unique items!

  10. Love the Spartina 449 scarf! I am the Assistant Manager at our Savannah Store?

    1. Woohoo! I love their items. Can you get me a discount? Lol!

  11. Now Tania, you Joe is a keeper even if he tosses something of yours! And to go out in the pouring rain proves it!!

    1. That just means that you don’t want to put in a bid for him. LOL!

  12. I love that Joe came to tell you to see your reaction before he went back to the dumpster. after all these years you think he would have done that first and not told you! too funny. you look great in this color, enjoy your day!

    1. I think that his conscience got the best of him. Lol! He has done this type trick MULTIPLE times before. Lol!

  13. What’s that saying…you break it, you buy it…,I think after all these years you’ve broken him in, he’s all yours! Besides, he’s great fodder for your blog?

    1. Margo, you are right about one thing…he is good fodder for the blog. Lol!

  14. He’s a good husband for righting his wrong. Love the outfit, especially the scarf!

    1. That is what he kept saying, Mary Lou. “I didn’t have to tell you. You would have just wondered where you had put them.”

  15. How many times have I heard about husbands pitching our stuff! True love is getting it back!

I’m a big fan of teal and don’t see enough of it. That scarf is really unique too.

    1. True love is getting it back. LOL! That made me laugh, Janet.

  16. Deb Olvey says:

I pin A LOT of your pictures on Pinterest! I started following your blog because I kept pinning your outfits

    1. Thank you, Deb!!! I appreciate it when you pin an outfit!

  17. The scarf certainly brightens up the outfit. I may look for something similar when we visit the states in April. Maybe you could give me some ideas on what clothes I need to pack. We are visiting Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville, Savannah and New Orleans

    1. You will love Nashville. It’s my favorite city. Have fun

      1. I love Nashville too. I am super excited that R+F is having their convention in Nashville this September. It will be a BLAST!

    2. Jill, you will love all of those cities. But, in April you will need to try and get a good weather forecast before you visit. It hasn’t gotten really warm by then and the rains might have started. It is one of those months where you might see all of the seasons in one day.

  18. I love how the scarf completes your outfit! Now, can you tell me how you tied the scarf please lol!
