THE PERFECT SHEATH DRESS
When I first started 50 Is Not Old I had in mind two objectives. One was to remind women that just because we were not in our 20’s, did not mean we could not be stylish. The second was to show how you could be just an ordinary everyday woman and still be able to dress nicely. When I pin on Pinterest I always say fashion for the everyday woman. There is one shop I can count on to help me achieve both of these points.
Chadwick’s of Boston is a store that can offer you a wide variety of clothing to choose from that will help you look fashionable and at an affordable cost. An everyday woman is looking for clothing that she can wear to work, wear to run after the children, or go on a date, and she wants these outfits to last her year after year.
One of the most flattering styles I have found in a dress is the sheath. I love this style! This particular sheath was sent to me by Chadwick’s of Boston and it is practically perfect in every way. I love the way a sheath dress hangs and this one drapes perfectly.
It has a scoop neckline for a flattering look. The sleeveless dress makes it very versatile also. I decided to wear a simple white blouse with this dress for a more classic look. I will also be able to style the dress with a turtleneck, a blazer, and even wear it without anything in the spring.
The material is wool/polyester and the dress is fully lined. Nothing scratchy about this dress. I wanted to give you a closer look at the material. It is a deep navy with lighter browns running through it. I’ll be honest, this is not the color I meant to pick. I actually meant to get the lighter version which is mostly browns. However, when the dress arrived I changed my mind and decided to keep this one.
Because the dress had streaks of brown running through it I decided to style the dress with brown knee boots and charcoal gray tights. This is a youthful look and one that brings out the browns in the pattern.
Joe’s favorite was the black boots. This is a classic look and your attention is on the dress. Here is what I can tell you, Chadwick’s of Boston offers quality affordable styles that everybody can wear. An additional 20% off would make everything even MORE affordable. At checkout use the code CH64337.
I am not sure which boot you prefer with the dress but I know that everyone can give Chadwick’s of Boston a big thumbs up.
Just out of curiosity, though, which boots do you like best with the dress?
“DISCLOSURE: I AM PARTICIPATING IN A COMPENSATED CAMPAIGN WITH THIS BRAND. THE STYLING AND THE WRITTEN WORDS ARE MY OWN.”
Both looks are nice, but I love the look with the black boots. It seems visually to create a longer lines .
Tania, I like the brown ones! They stand out & make the dress pop! But you gotta go w/your hubbie’s idea, I know!
Such spot on styling, Tania…it looks great with both colors! Love the garments Chadwicks of Boston offers at such great pricing!
Black boots!
Love!
What a cute versatile outfit. I am with Joe, I prefer the black boots–they elongate with a more vertical line. The brown boots work as well and provide a more casual look in my humble opinion.
I’m with Joe–black boots give it a polished look!
Just by way of comparison, I have two skirt outfits I ordered from Chadwick’s about twelve years ago, and they not only are still in regular rotation in my closet but look practically new.
You could put a slightly tailored jacket over this ensemble and kick it up even further. What a classic (and classy) look!
Cute outfit! I love how you styled the necklace with the outfit. Perfect for work. Thanks for the idea!
I haven’t ordered from Chadwick’s since college. Thy always had well made, classic clothing at reasonable prices. Nice weight t-shirts and professional blazers and skirts. Cute dresses too. This look is fabulous. I’m with Joe on the black boots. Just gives the look a more stylish edge. The brown boots are a bit more casual. Good work look.
I think I like the black boots best, I also think its because of the little heel.
I’m with Joe on this one, the black boots look best. They give the outfit a more “sleek” look.
I love the colors and cut of this dress! Both boots look great 🙂 Great versatile sheath dress, thank you for sharing.
I like the black boots the best. I wish you had styled it with black shoe boots, just to see how it looked.
FYI
I wore one of your outfits to school yesterday and received so many compliments. It was the denim jacket, blanket scarf, wine color pants, and a blue top. I pulled up your post of the outfit to show my teacher friends. They loved it!
That is cool, Rebecca!!! Thanks for spreading the word about the blog.
I love them both ways. You give me so many great ideas to create a practical and elegant look. I’ve even got the ladies in my office following you now!
Thanks Deborah, for getting my blog out there. I liked both styles of boots. I think that is the same with most outfits, there are usually more than one way to wear something. You should experiment to see which yo like best.
This looks great on you! Although I like it with both boot colors I would probably go with the black. Have a great day!
I think Joe has a good eye, because the black boots are a hit with this!!

I like the brown. Necklace really makes it pop!
I would have initially put the black boots with it, but I really love the brown boots! The brown boots make everything pop!
Black ones.
I love how the brown boots bring out the browns in the shift but I have agree with Joe, the black ones. I think the style with the little heel is what really does it. I love Chadwick’s! May have to do a little online shopping today. Are you finding their sizing runs true? It’s been a while since I ordered through them and if I recall thing sometimes ran a little big. Anyway, you love marvelous girl! Have a wonderful weekend.?
Everything I have tried is running true to size. Have a great weekend!!!
Brown boots.
Agree with Joe. I like the black boots for a dressier look. Brown is fine for running errands.
I like the contrast of the brown boots.
Black ones
I think the brown boots and white blouse look kind of choppy, but that is me. I think I would do either the white blouse and black boots or the brown boots with a navy turtleneck. Nice looking dress.
Love them both, but I think with the white top it looks very classic so I think the black boots. I love the brown boots but maybe with a different top would be fun.
I ❤️Your blog. Great looking outfit. Love the plaid! Very smart and stylish look!!!
Brown boots!!!!
I like the brown boots because it looks more comfortable. All about comfort this busy holiday season. Hope you have wonderful plans this weekend!
OMG Tania – thank you so much for posting this – I am now getting redressed into my newish shift dress from Hallhuber (do you have that in the US ?)…
This week was so exciting for me as I was featured in the Gala magazine – such a breakthrough 😉 http://funkyforty.com/funkyforty-confesses-in-gala-magazine/
Have a wonderful weekend

I think I like the Brown boots better, butthey look both good!
I think I like the black boots best but both look good! Can you talk about your shirt – it looks really smooth and silky and not too starchy which I really like.
You look terrific!
It s one that I bought years ago at Cato’s and it is really silky but not like the satin types.
It looks good both ways but I personally prefer the brown boots for the contrast they give. Have a great weekend!
This look is adorable. Did the dress fit true to size?
I always size up in dresses. I normally wear a 10 in most things, but I will buy a 12 in dresses. It is a tiny bit big, but I am afraid a 10 would make my feel self conscious.
