50 IS NOT OLD | PASTELS FOR SPRING | FASHION OVER 40Joe and I traveled to Richmond yesterday and it was so gorgeous along the way. The sun was shining, at least most of the trip, and the temperatures were in the HIGH 70’s. It is crazy to think that this is February. I know that the cooler weather will strike again but it is so nice to dream right now. I looked out the back door and saw that my big Weeping Willow has green leaves starting to pop. I am just thrilled at the thoughts of spring!!!50 IS NOT OLD | PASTELS FOR SPRING | FASHION OVER 40We stopped on our way up at a scenic overlook that overlooked the Shenandoah Valley. Oh my goodness, it was so pretty. We took a couple of pics but since he had a meeting at 2:00 we didn’t have time to tarry long. Richmond is on the other end of the state from where I live. It was a 6-hour drive up there, the meeting, and then another 6-hour drive back. We are getting good at these type of trips it appears. The last time we pulled one of these was when we took our daughter to Atlanta to catch her plane back to Alaska. That was another 6-hour there and back. I keep telling myself that “50 is not old, 50 is not old,” but my butt keeps saying, “this trip is too long, this trip is too long.”50 IS NOT OLD | PASTELS FOR SPRING | FASHION OVER 40I loved my latest shipment from the Trunk Club. I ended up keeping several things and exchanging a couple others because of the sizing. This top by Vince Camuto is perfect for the upcoming Spring weather. I like the tiered ruffle sleeve and the super soft material on the top. However, the light lilac color is not the best for me. I feel washed out but it could be because I am white as a ghost from being in the house all winter. As soon as I saw these pictures I went and put on some sunless tanner. lol! This top does come in several more colors like light blue, light pink, and a sage green color. The trend that I am seeing is going shorter and boxy for tops. As long as they are not a CROP-show your belly-top then I will be alright.50 IS NOT OLD | PASTELS FOR SPRING | FASHION OVER 40I love the Carmen necklace for summer. The color of the beads are so pretty and then the cute small tassels are just icing on the cake. This necklace is adjustable from 18″ to 21″. The key and tassel bracelet is no longer available but the turquoise key Lauren earrings are still in the catalog. These beautiful items can be found by going to plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and picking a party that has my name on it. 50 IS NOT OLD | PASTELS FOR SPRING | FASHION OVER 40I thought that these platform espadrilles were cute when I bought them at the end of last summer. I had a tan back then and they had to look better than they do against my pasty white legs. I am not so sure now but I’ll wait until it gets warmer and I can wear them with shorts. Since they are almost the same color as my legs a tan would have to help.I have to admit that the tassels on the top are what really sold me on the shoes. The brand of these shoes is Isaac Mizrahi. They have a leather upper and a cushioned sole for comfort. And, btw, they are on sale!50 IS NOT OLD | PASTELS FOR SPRING | FASHION OVER 40My pants are a printed pair of Pixie Pants from Old Navy. I bought these at least a year ago, maybe longer. Honestly, they are not my favorite pair of pants because the colors are muted. I normally like a brighter color palette. I do like printed pants though because they give you so many options to match a top to. This pair that I have on is mostly in shades of purple and yellow.

  1. I LOVE that outfit! It will be a long while until spring really arrives here in Manitoba, Canada but I can dream. I too love the bright colours on my fair skin but you have inspired me to try some pastels and see how it looks.

  2. I love this outfit! I love this necklace!

  3. You look great. Love the lavender top..so flirty & feminine. Love the pants on you but probably not on me. Altho I wear printed capris! Go figure.

You may think you’re pasty white, but I’m always that color! So I think you are normal! I only burn & am in pain & then the color disappears. And I had chemo years ago & I’m even MORE sensitive to sun & get really sick.So not direct sun for me. BUT…I have really nice skin from no sun exposure. So there’s that! 🙂

Love, love the outfit! One of my favorites!

  6. Cute pants, not sure about the shorter top. I really like the tunic length best for myself.

  7. I love pastels and you look great as always! I live in the northeastern part of Florida. It’s supposed to be 82 today – in February! It’s already buggy! I predict it’ll be a very hot summer! I was enjoying wearing my boots and sweaters. Have a great day everyone!

  8. Another great outfit today! Looks fresh and happy. I too am looking forward to spring, but we woke up to 4 inches of snow and a school delay. We needed the moisture desperately so I’m not complaining. Looking outside it’s hard to believe spring is a month away. Enjoy the beautiful weather! Have a great day.

Tania I think lilac is a nice color on you, and printed pants perfect. The shoes are cute and neutral but in my opinion just a little off for this outfit…. maybe too chunky. Cute flats like the ones in picture of dark print pants in a different color.
