Today is the first day of a brand new year. It is full of hope and possibilities! Hope of something better and the possibility of greatness. It is also a day of reflection. A day to look back over the past year and remember the good along with the bad.

Have you ever noticed how small the rear view mirror is in a car? Even the side mirrors that show what is behind you are small. But the windshield that lets you see what is in front of you is wide and large. All too often we get bogged down in the past. If you are living in the past then you are letting the future slip away from you. You CAN’T change anything that has happened in the past. You can learn from the past but you can’t change the past.

In order to move forward, we need to let it go. Let go of any hurt, let go of the pain, let go of false hope, let go of grudges, let go…… Instead look for peace, look for forgiveness, look for hope, look for love, look for GOD.

He is the Prince of Peace:

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

He forgives:

Matthew 6:14-15

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

He gives hope:
Job 11:18-19
18 You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.
19 You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.

He is love:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
The past is gone and the future is yet to be. Let’s move forward into 2017 with the Lord by our sides. I will leave you with just one more verse:
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Have a Blessed Sunday!!!

Thank you for this very beautiful reminder of our Saviour’s love & commands, Tania! The best way to start our new year! I can personally appreciate these verses as there is some strife in my family right now between my son-in-law & me which is dragging me down & weighing on my heart. I have done my part to ask forgiveness of him & the Lord, but he still holds resentment & anger.

    1. All you can do is ask for forgiveness. Now it is up to the Lord to do his work.
