MARY DID YOU KNOW

Merry Christmas! For Unto Us A Child Is Born. Today is the day that Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus. There is a lot of controversy about the “day” Jesus was born since it is not mentioned in the Bible. But, it doesn’t matter if this is the “actual” date or not; it is about celebrating the fact that he was born. He humbled Himself by taking a human form and was born in a humble setting.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I have been giving a little thought to this. Jesus Christ, the Savior, and Lord of the Universe was born in a stable. What would that have felt like from a mother’s point of view? We all want the best for our children, so would you have wanted your child to have been born in a stable? Would you have wanted your child to be ridiculed and crucified? Mary, did you know?

Mary had no way of knowing all that was to come when she gave birth to Jesus, but God knew. God knew that He was sending His one and only son to earth and He knew what the outcome was going to be. He Knew! I’ve recited John 3:16 so many times that I have somehow let the meaning and the power of the verse leave me.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This verse starts out with, “For God so loved the world” He loved “us” so much! Here comes the hard part, “that he gave his only begotten son.” Do you love anyone enough that you would sacrifice your child, your one and only child? I can’t even begin to comprehend that amount of love. I can not even begin to comprehend the sacrifice that was made. Now for the beautiful part, “that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life!” Believe, trust, and have everlasting life.

I have always wondered about Abraham when he took his only son, Isaac, to give as a sacrifice to the Lord. He trusted that the Lord was going to provide. He trusted when the Lord told him to sacrifice Isaac. He trusted! This was a powerful illustration of complete trust. To be honest, I don’t know if I would have passed that test. I’m glad that I wasn’t in his shoes because I don’t know if I could have taken my child knowing “he” was to be the sacrifice. I just don’t know.

But I do know that Jesus was God’s sacrifice. I know that He was born, and He was crucified so that we might have everlasting life. I know that the Lord loved us enough to sacrifice His son. I know that today, and every other day, I celebrate His birth.

Merry Christmas everyone!

To God Goes The Glory!
Have A Blessed Day!

Thank you for offering affordable options. I’m a big thrifter so buying $80+ jeans are not in my vocabulary.
