What Everyone’s Using to Make Their Shoes More Comfortable
I don’t care how cute a pair of shoes is; if they hurt my feet, they are not leaving the closet. That is just the stage of life I am in now. I want support, cushion, and comfort! I want to be able to walk all day with Joe or run errands with the grandkids and not think about my feet one single time.
I recently did a post about Why Shoes Feel Miserable by the End of the Day. Several of you commented on issues you were having with your shoes. The good news is that there are so many simple inserts and cushions that make shoes feel like sneakers. These are the little tricks everyone’s using to make their shoes more comfortable.
Fix Shoes That Slip or Feel Too Big
Heel Grips Liner Cushions Inserts for Loose Shoes
We have all bought a pair of shoes that felt fine in the store and then slipped off our heels the second we walked outside. These little Heel Grips Liner Cushions are such an easy fix. You just stick them inside the back of the shoe, and they help fill that extra space so your foot stays put.
They add a soft cushion behind your heel, which also helps stop blisters. I love these for flats and loafers that run just a touch big. It is such a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in comfort. I have these and have used them in a few of my high heels.
• Stops heel slipping
• Helps prevent blisters
• Adds a light cushion
• Great for slightly loose shoes
Cushion the Ball of Your Foot
Gel Ball of Foot Cushion Inserts
If you ever feel that burning or pressure right under the ball of your foot, you know exactly why these exist. Heels, dress shoes, and even some sneakers can put all your weight forward. These Gel Ball of Foot Cushion Inserts give that area a soft landing.
They are clear and low profile, so no one sees them. I would use these in sandals or wedges where you need a little extra padding but not a full insole.
• Soft gel cushioning
• Helps relieve pressure
• Discreet and thin
• Perfect for heels and dress shoes
Walkize Metatarsal Pads
These Metatarsal Pads are another great option for the front of your foot. They are designed specifically to support the metatarsal area, where we tend to get sore and tired. They feel soft but supportive at the same time.
If you stand a lot or walk all day, these can really help reduce that achy feeling.
• Targets the ball of foot pain
• Soft and supportive
• Helps with long days on your feet
• Easy to move between shoes

PowerStep Original Insoles
These PowerStep Insoles are another favorite for arch pain. They balance cushioning with support, so they are not too hard or too squishy. That sweet spot makes them really comfortable for everyday wear.
If you have mild pronation or general foot aches, these can make your shoes feel so much better. They are a nice middle ground option.
• Balanced cushion and support
• Helps with arch pain
• Great everyday insole
• Fits easily into most shoes
Heel Pain Relief
Gel Heel Cups for Heel Pain Relief
This section is for me! I’ve been wearing my Hoka Recovery Slides for years, and I’ve babied my feet so long that now my heels hurt when I wear anything else.
If your heel bothers you like mine does, these Gel Heel Cups are such a simple fix. They cradle your heel and absorb shock every time you step. That little bit of cushion can really help with soreness.
I love these for walking shoes or even work shoes, where you are on hard floors. They feel soft but still supportive.
• Targets heel pain
• Shock-absorbing gel
• Easy to slip into shoes
• Great for standing or walking
