If you have been reading my blog this past week then you know that I am on my way to Alaska right this minute. I will be traveling the 6 hours journey to Atlanta, Georgia and then be hopping on an airplane for the remaining 9-hour journey to Juneau. It will be a very long and tiring day for Joe and me.

I have mentioned on the blog about making lists and trying to get everything together. There is a 5 P Principle that goes something like Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance. That can apply to so much in our lives from work to packing. I am terrible about getting everything together and organized when it comes to going on a trip. I will usually wait until the day we are leaving before I even start packing and then I wonder why my outfits don’t look like I want them too. I don’t have the jewelry I want, the shoes don’t match, and half the time the clothes are too tight. For some reason, they are never too big. Lol!

All of this trying to plan and pack got me to thinking about how much planning do I put into doing the Lords bidding. Do I make lists of devotions I want to read? Do I put forth the effort to make my journey into Heaven something that would go smoothly?

The real truth is that we put forth lots of time and effort into all kinds of earthly goals. Making a grocery list, weekly dinner menus, scheduling appointments for the kids, or maybe it is a honey-do list for your husband. However, our Heavenly list might be lacking.

Simple lists might be memorizing Bible verses, inviting someone to attend church ever Sunday on month, go on a mission trip, work on our prayer life, making an effort to control our tongue, forgiving someone who has wronged you, adopt a widow into your family, or a host of other deeds.

I am lacking in so many areas that it almost seems overwhelming. I know that you just put on foot in front of the other and pretty soon you are at your destination. So for today, I am going to work on a few things, just one or two, and then I will add on just a couple more. Who knows, maybe I will reach my destination one day.

Please say a quick prayer for Joe and me as we travel today. I truly appreciate every one of them.

Have A Blessed Sunday.

Prayers from CA for a safe trip. We went to Juneau on a cruise 10 years ago. We panned for gold and went through a Russian Orthodox Church. I loved the shop with all the Russian nesting dolls. Somewhere I have a picture…

  10. Hi, so I found you on Pinterest when I was looking for fashion trends for us women over 50. Since I like (love) so many of your styles, I decided to read your blog to find out more about you. I enjoy reading your blog too. We seem so similar. We can never spend too much doing the Lords will. I have been on two missions trip and strive to be in the Word everyday. I am praying for safe travels for you and Joe. You will love Juneau. My husband and daughter and I went up there on 7 day cruise with Princess a few years back. We LOVED Alaska and even made a friend at Mt. McKinley Lodge. I will be reading your post to hear about your trip. Keep blogging!?? Vonda Seyna
