MAKING A DATE NIGHT SPECIAL
Joe and I have started incorporating a date night into our weekly routine. I started this as a reward to myself for sticking to my diet, and a cheat meal was the reward. What I have come to realize is, the reward is not the cheat meal, but the time spent with my husband.
We “see” each other all day long, but it is in passing, me working, or both of us playing on our phones or computers. Our date nights have become a time where we lay the phones down and have a conversation. It is enjoyable, and as an added bonus, I get that cheat meal that I was wanting. Lol!
I started wanting these dates to feel special like they did when we first started dating. So, I take extra pains with my clothing, hair, and makeup. I want him to notice I put extra effort into our dates. He sees the outcome, but he doesn’t always see the preparation.
I do take the time to shave my legs before our dates. It might not be as noticeable in the winter since I usually wear pants. Now that the weather is warming up, I’ll be wearing dresses, and shaving my legs will be a given. I did a post the other day about the Billie Razor, and I’m still loving it. Someone mentioned that you used to have to be part of a subscription to get these razors. I’m thrilled that you can now pick them up through Walmart with no subscription needed!
I ordered the Billie Shave Cream, the Dream Pop Starter Kit, and the matching Dream Pop Travel Case.
I don’t usually wear perfume, but since I wanted our date nights to be special, I thought that adding perfume might be nice. Perfume is personal, and it can become your signature scent. When I smell certain scents, I am immediately reminded of a person, or a time and place. I can’t smell cotton candy without thinking of my daughter who always wore cotton candy perfume.
Since it had been so long since I shopped for perfume, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money until I decided exactly which scent spoke to me. I found the Dossier Perfume line which are luxury fragrances inspired by Iconic scents and decided to try a few scents out to see which one worked for me.
I ordered Floral Violet inspired by Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Eau de Toilette, Floral Aldehydes Inspired By Chanel’s N°5 Eau De Parfum, Gourmand White Flowers Inspired By Viktor&Rolf’S Flowerbomb Eau De Parfum and Aromatic Pineapple Inspired By Ysl’s Y Eau De Parfum.
When I was getting ready last Saturday, the Gourmand White Flowers was the only one that had arrived. The others came a few days later. Perfumes can give me a headache, so I only spray the tiniest amount until I know that I will be able to wear them. I’m happy to say that I did not get a headache, so that is a big deal to me. But, as soon as I smelled the perfume, it reminded me of one of my friends. I don’t want to smell like my friend, I want my own personal scent, so I’m hoping that one of the other scents will work better.
I was shocked and surprised though when I found out that the cap is magnetized, and snaps back on magnetically. It doesn’t take much to thrill me. Lol!
The rest of the perfumes came right before I left for Tennessee. I did a quick sample of each of them to see which I liked the best, and the winner was Floral Violet which is inspired by Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Eau de Toilette. It is a delicate-smelling perfume that is not overwhelming.
If you are wondering about my outfit, I wore this beige and white sweater set since it was one that Joe mentioned he liked. This beige and white striped sweater set is classic and elegant looking. The dress is a tank top style, a midi length, and features a split at the hemline. The cardigan topper, which can be worn open or closed, will also look great with ivory pants later this summer.

What shoes did you wear with the tank dress you wore in date night?
I wrote a pair of neutral heels with it. 😊
I ordered all the Billie products and can’t wait to try them. 🙂
Love reading your blog! Especially love the bible verses – those inspire me every day!
In todays post youre wearing a fantastic large pearl bracelet (when you’re showing the perfumes) I love me some pearls – could you tell me more about that? I’d love to get one like it!

Date night is the best and you look smashing! Joe will “date” you forever! It’s nice to make the extra effort.
My husband and I have had date night ever since he retired in 2017. It’s kind of like a cheat meal for me too and we both look forward to it!
You didn’t mention your purse that goes perfectly with that outfit. Was that from Walmart too? I suspect you’ll say it’s old since you didn’t mention it; it’s so pretty!
Nancy, you are right, the handbag is an older one that I’ve had for a while.
