MAKEUP THAT IS AFFORDABLE ON ANY BUDGET
Prices are soaring on everything. The cost of gas, food, and everything else we need daily is going through the roof. Many of us have had to adjust our budgets to afford the necessities of life. Ladies, makeup is a necessity in my book! Lol!
e.l.f is a makeup brand I first bought when my daughter was learning about makeup. I was amazed at how good this line was because the price was so affordable. I found them again the other day when shopping online at JCPenney, and I thought I would share some makeup essentials with you. JCPenney’s Black Friday event is now ongoing through the 24th. *exclusions may apply.
It’s not Valentine’s Day, but we all still want soft, kissable lips. I hate dry lips, and I always try to keep something on them. The Brown Sugar Lip Exfoliator will help to shed the dry, dead skin from your lips. This will become addictive because it makes your lips feel so soft. Follow that with the Ride or Die Lip Balm for every day, or apply the Lip Plumping Gloss if you’re headed out the door.
I always wear something on my lips, but my eyes are my best asset. Since eyes are the windows to the soul, I think they are everyone’s best asset. My daily eye makeup routine will consist of concealer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, brow pencil, and brow gel. I like darker eyeshadow colors in the fall, but in the summer months, I choose lighter shades. The Rose Gold Palette and the Smokey Eye Palette are perfect to wear now.
We can’t forget the rest of the face. Using an Oil Control Primer will help keep the shine at bay and help the rest of your makeup stay in place. I always use a setting powder, and this one gives you a slight glow but not the shine. I use the concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes or dark spots, I want to hide. I go back and forth between cream blush and powder blush. Usually, I use a powder blush, but I like that a cream blush can also be used as lipstick.
When time is an issue, all of us should have a 5-minute face routine. It might take you longer in the beginning, but once you get this 5-minute routine down, you’ll be out the door in a jiffy. Here’s what I use for my 5-minute routine: concealer, setting powder, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, brow pencil, brow gel, and lip gloss.
So many older ladies have gotten so used to not wearing makeup that you might have forgotten how to apply it. So, act like you are sixteen again, and let’s experiment with how to apply makeup like we did when we were young. These products are easy to use, affordable, and can all be found at JCPenney.

Tania, this was an excellent post. It’s always nice to see some affordable alternatives to try new make up products. Especially in times like these.
I’m glad you enjoyed this post!!!
I think that you have the ability to read my mind because I am one that until last Sat., had not worn makeup in years. So when I began to apply it, I was at a loss for a few moments. Due to Cushing’s Disease many years ago, I don’t have enough eye lashes or eyebrows, and I wear glasses, which adds some challenges. I also have rosacea on one cheek, so I work at keeping it from standing out. I have seen Elf makeup in some of the stores, so I will check it out for experimenting.
Ginger, keep trying and experiment with different shades of concealers. Certain colors hide redness better than others.
Do you wear makeup foundation over your primer? I’m looking for sheer coverage because I don’t like it to look like I’ve “iced” my face with makeup. What do you recommend?
Jane, I wear R+F Radiant Defense for that same reason. I need to try some other brands for ladies who don’t want to purchase what I use.
I have blonde eyebrows, glasses and bangs, so I have always just ignore them. A stylist friend suggested I try Elf’s eyebrow pencil as an inexpensive way to experiment, so I am going to. I am not near a JC Penney, but found this brand at my Walgreens. I live in the boonies! Thanks for the solid info!
Becki, you’ll have to let me know how you like their eyebrow pencil.
I discovered E.L.F. a couple of months when I was looking for a concealer. I am 76 and found their camo cc cream. With a primer under it , I use as my foundation. It gives me coverage without accenting the fine lines on my face. And it stays all day. I will have to try the other products you suggested. Thanks!
Thanks, Judy for letting us know about the CC Cream. I used to use CC Cream all the time, but I’ve gotten away from it recently.
Good morning Tania,
I’ve been following you for quite a long time. I enjoy your posts very much, however, I’m missing your daily scriptures. I know you mentioned not doing daily verses as frequently, but I haven’t seen one in awhile. Am I just not seeing them?
Doreen, I’m glad you enjoy my daily scriptures. I always include them in every post, EXCEPT when the post is sponsored. The scriptures reflect my belief, and are personal, so I don’t put them in sponsored posts.
