LIVING MY BEST LIFE
Let me start this post by saying that I am “normally” a very easy going person. It takes a lot to rile my feathers, and I take kidding and ribbing well. In fact, my entire family is on the side of smarty comments, instead of saying something normal. That is our way of playing, and we never get mad at each other. I have to laugh because my mother is afraid to leave comments on my blog, she thinks that you gurls won’t understand our crazy humor. Lol! But, today, I was not in the mood to be poked at….
You know that I have had this stupid cough for going on a month. I recently started taking a steroid pill, and it seems to be working. I am crossing my fingers that I am back to normal soon. But, I might tend to get a little testy when I take steroids, and Joe might have been on the receiving end. He called me today, and I said, “I am going to go get a peach slush while I am out shopping,” and then he said, “you look like you need a peach slushie.” Usually, that would roll right off my back, and I would laugh as I went and got my drink. NOT TODAY! Instead, I hung up on him. Then, later that afternoon, he called and (I have already forgotten what he said) …..but, I hung up on him again. He came to the house and said, “did you just hang up on me twice today?” You could see the laughter behind his eyes. He knows that is out of character for me, and he also knows that I am on steroids. I find it humorous now, but at the time he got an earful. That made him laugh even harder. Lol!
Y’all, I love this shirt! Isn’t it adorable? The best part about this shirt is the fact that it is not mine. My daughter ordered this off of Etsy and accidentally shipped it to my house. Haha! I couldn’t wait to put it on and send her a picture. Then, I liked it so much that I thought you ladies might like to see it also. It is soft and seems to be a good quality shirt. I am wearing a size large in the color Heather Maroon. Here is the link to the shirt.
I haven’t worn my oversized Nika earrings in a while. I wanted to wear something in silver and something that would catch your eye. Did these accomplish that? These are very lightweight leather earrings, and they are the same on both sides. My necklace is a custom piece that I made. You can order either bracelets or necklaces, and have them engraved with symbols or letters. I chose the silver bar necklace with fonts, and I love how it turned out. I think these would make great Christmas presents since they are personalized. I also added a large silver link bracelet on an elastic cord. It is the Madijeanne, and here is the link.
Yes, I am wearing white after Labor Day! I saw someone comment on Facebook this morning that they can’t bring themselves to wear white now. They said their mother had preached that to them as a child, and they still couldn’t break the habit. My mother told me that when I was a child also, but she also dressed me in matchy-matchy polyester outfits. Lol!
Remember, be nice and leave a sweet comment for me today. Lol! You have been warned about my mood. Hahahaha!

Love the shirt!! I wore white pants yesterday just because my Moma always said not to. 🙂 Oh and because I got them on sale later in the year so now I am going to wear them. 🙂
Hope you feel better soon.
Deanne, I forgot to mention that now is the perfect time to buy white jeans and pants. The sizes are usually limited, but you can get some great buys at this time of year.
I am wearing white pants today too! (don’t tell my momma!) haha
I am so proud of you, Michele!!! You are sooo fashion-forward!
We love you Tania!! Joe better be nice to you!! He could never find another person who is as beautiful as you are- inside and out!! The joy you have radiates through you!! You have Ben a blessing to me- and at almost 60(!!) have helped me to love my body and dress ina fun and flattering way!!❤️❤️?
Awww, thanks, Shelley. But, you better remember poor Joe in your prayers as I continue with my steroid medicine. Lol! As I pulled out of the driveway, I might have screamed out the car window, “blog-worthy.” I could tell he was thrilled. HAHAHA!
Love the shirt! I too was taught not to wear white after Labor Day, and I can’t bring myself to do it. However, we usually go on vacation in September, often a cruise, and I will wear white in that situation. I guess I feel like rules don’t apply in the Caribbean, lol! Have a great day, feel better!
Beth, it is crazy the rules that we keep in our head from long ago. The first time that I wore white after Labor Day, I expected the fashion police to jump out of the bushes. Lol!
you look so casual yet put together, love it, get some rest, hope you are well soon
I love the look also, Mary!
Love this look on you!!! I love that Tshirt?
I love the shirt also! I may have to get me one since I know my daughter will take this one away from me.
Maybe this will make you feel better……many years ago I broke one of my ribs from coughing like you have been!!!! That was one of the most painful things I’ve ever gone through. My doctor gave me a steroid shot and I had to wear a brace for 6 weeks!!! I could hard breathe or move it hurt so bad. Now…..feel better?! ??? Darling tee shirt too. I think you should just keep it!! ?
Oh NO!!! I am so sorry that happened to you. I most certainly do not want that to happen. I guess taking my steroid pills will continue for a few more days. Y’all say a prayer for Joe. Lol!
I love the whole look- t-shirt, white pants & earrings!
Anytime I’m on steroids my hubby hides the knives! I totally get the mood.
I am also a ‘no white after Labor Day’. I may try to break that since it’s still 80. Just not sure I can get past my mom and her finger wagging ?? (it’s all in my head)
I’ll have to tell Joe to take away the knives. Lol! Shari, just remember this…was your mom just giving you the same advice that her mom gave her? Just because a rule was a rule YEARS ago, doesn’t make it applicable now. Wear the white and feel like a rebel!
The decision to wear white after Labor Day seems to be the new modern day fashion dilemma. I recently read an article about why that fashion rule was set in place to begin with and it was one of the ways snooty rich women used to distinguish “old money” from “new money”. It was ingrained in me from childhood, too, but since I am “no money” I will probably be breaking that rule this fall, lol.
Valerie, I have read articles that explained the no white after Labor Day rule also. It was a way to distinguish the upper crust from the nobodys. I am sure that most people are not aware of the reason behind the rule, and probably only do it because Mom said so. Lol!
My grandma was a farmer and always said if you got lost or injured outside in the winter and needed help then they wouldn’t be able to find you in the snow if you were wearing white. Now that makes sense!
Haha. Note to self, “don’t dress head to toe in white when it snows.” Lol!
Sorry to hear your cough is still hanging on. One time when I just could not get rid of bronchitis even with medicine from the doctor, a friend told me about echanacea goldenseal. I didn’t really think it would do much good but was desperate enough to try just about anything. After being sick for a month it cleared up with this stuff and I use it at the first signs now and have managed to keep it away.
Thanks so much. I will be checking that out right away!!!
These lingering coughs wear you out and are so annoying! Hope you are on the mend soon!
You are so right, Janet. It is crazy how a simple cough has worn me out!
Tania!! Haha This is my favorite outfit ever!! Especially after Labor Day!! I’m a tee shirt and white jeans girl most of the summer and through the early Fall!! I love Fallish tops, Jean jacket, cardigans with white jeans through the transitional time, too!! I may have to buy this t-shirt you’re wearing! I love it.
Hope your cough gets better.. Steroids are pretty evil?
Have a wonderful day! Love your post even though I don’t comment very often .
I am glad to see I have a fashion-sister! Thanks for following, even if you don’t comment “all” the time. Lol!
Love your outfit today! You should keep the shirt. It looks great on you. Hope you feel better soon.
I will have to buy myself one in a different color. She is already wanting hers back. Lol!
