LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE STYLE
I am so looking forward to this weekend! While today may only be Friday, for me this marks the “official” start of my weekend. I am still going to work today, but I don’t cook on Friday nights, so I count that as a weekend treat. Lol! But this weekend, I have a special treat coming up.
I will be traveling to Columbia, South Carolina with my Energizer Bunny friend. (She is gong to be the death of me) We are going to be pampered by Rodan and Fields. Around 30 ladies, I met some of them at Convention, will be having a massage therapist work us over. Then there will be a hairstylist and a makeup artist who will work their magic on us. Finally, there will be a professional photo shoot for each of us. I am looking forward to all this pampering, but at the same time, I don’t like being still for long periods of time. I am talking about the massage, I hate just lying there. Some people absolutely love getting a massage, but that would not be me.
This little dress reminds me of Little House on the Prairie. It has that old-time vintage look. I bought this at a trunk show from a friend on mine. A trunk show is a traveling boutique. They come to your house and they set up all their clothing. You then invite your friends to your “party” and you get 10% in free clothing for hosting the party. Sandy, my BFF, and I went down and both of us bought a few items. The dress is a brand called Easel.
My bling initial is new. I have a “t” just like this, but I bought the “s” when I was in Atlanta for the vintage fashion show (see here.) It is a brand called Monarch Inspirations. The leaf jewelry was a Plunder Posse set back in September. I love this set, it jingles when you walk. The wrap bracelet is the Queenie. I love the antiqued roses that are on this bracelet.
Here is a close up of my earrings, they are called the Camie. When I do a close up of me, you gurls probably look at different things than I do. I always look at the imperfections, and I bet that is what you do when you look at your pictures also. However, today I noticed something different. I noticed that my “turkey” neck is looking much, much better. Can I get a hallelujah? That has always been one of my most hated flaws. I can deal with a few (very few) wrinkles, I can deal with a bigger than I want waistline, and I can deal with a having a chest that is on the smaller side. I can camouflage most of those things, but there is nothing you can do to hide a turkey neck, not even a turtleneck will do the trick. I have been using the AMP roller since the middle of September, and after looking at this picture, I will be intensifying my efforts.
I am carrying a crocodile print leather purse by GILI. This is one that I bought that was missing a rivet and I had fixed. I am not going to tell you what I paid for it, let’s just say that you would be sick. HahaThe leather boots are by Marc Fisher and I bought them at the overstock outlet in town. Both of these items were from overstock outlets, but not the same one. That’s right, we have more than one in our town. If anyone is planning on coming down to do some Christmas shopping, be sure to let me know.
I know what they say about plans, and mine might end up changing. I certainly hope not, but my mother let me know today that my grandmother (103) is not feeling good. I hope that she gets to feeling better soon, but I am realistic. I know that even if she gets to feeling better this time, that it is eventually just a metter of time. Of course I thought that when she turned 100 also. If you don’t care, please say a quick prayer for my Granny Meadows.
So, I have been thinking about a “special” to run for the Christmas season. I have come upon two ideas! This will work for Plunder OR Rodan and Fields.
- 10% off any order over 50.00 (excluding the taxes and shipping) I will send you a check. OR
- Layaway. You would have to message me your items you wish to purchase. I would need a 20% downpayment, (Paypal preferred, but I can take a credit card over the phone) and then remaining must be paid by December 1st. The items will be then shipped to you.
To place an order for the 10% off with Plunder, go to www.plunderdesign.com/party/ts and go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.com to place an order with Rodan and Fields.
To place an order for the layaway, email me with all your information at fiftyisnotold@gmail.com
The winner of the free mini eye cream was Anita Freeland! I will be messaging you for your adresss. Congratulations!!!

Oh my!!!!
I love this dress!!!
Have a good weekend.
Prayers for Granny Meadows. I have been following fashion blogs to look more stylish like you and the cute dress. Thanks for the tips and pictures of new looks.

Looks very cute. Those outlets sound amazing. Have a safe trip and enjoy the pampering. Skip the massage. I hate lying on my stomach with my face in that hole thing. It squashes my chest, and I can’t relax because I’m wishing it would just get over.
Prayers for Granny Meadows. May the Lord wrap her in comfort and grace. ?I hope you enjoy your trip to Columbia SC. This is my town and I hope it treats you well!
PS I ordered the ON pintucked dress you wore recently. It feels to short on me so I was going to wear with leggings and booties. My question is do the leggings need to be inside the bootie or do you let some leg show? (Sorry so long winded!)
With leggings, I usually wear them inside the booties. When I wear jeans, I will cuff them. It is a lot of trial and error to see which was looks best.
Oh how I am glad it is Friday! Such a busy week. Your posts on comfortable outfits were cute. I love a graphic tee & wore one yesterday. And this dress is darling! Have fun this weekend! I have a hard time being still as well. Maybe make a mental list of those you’re praying for and use the time to pray? It works for me. XOXO
That is a wonderful idea, Brandye? I hope you have a great weekend also!
I seriously would not have given this dress a second look on a hangar but you totally give it life! So adorable on you.
I am that way with a lot of clothing too, Shelly. I pass it by and then see it on someone else. I have even been known to go back and get the item.?
Said a prayer for Grannie Meadows and hope she will feel better soon!! You know, you do NOT have any visible signs of turkey neck!!! But I know what you mean about that. I have a reverse curve in my neck, which makes you have terrible turkey neck! awhg!!!!You could be a model for R&F!! Your skin looks even more beautiful. I think this little dress would also look great with leggings and booties as it also looks great with the tall boots. Hope you have a great time in Columbia, about an hour and a half down the road from me. The leaves have been beautiful, just hope the wind does not blow them all away. Hope you have a blessed weekend!!!
That is exactly how I planned on wearing it the next time. Lol!
Prayers for your Granny Meadows.
Prayers for granny Meadows! Have a great time this weekend and “Just Breathe”!!!!
?
What a cute dress! I couldn’t wear it, but I’m glad you can!!
You can totally wear this dress. The next time I wear it, I will probably have it on over leggings.
