LINEN PANTS ARE PERFECT FOR SPRING
Today I was looking at my covered pool in the back yard and I was asking myself, “Are you ready for bathing suit weather?” NO, NO, NO, was the resounding answer. Just the thoughts of putting on a bathing suit can send cold shivers all down my pudgy, white, wrinkled body. I’ll stop there with all the adjectives, I think you get the idea. Unfortunately most of you can also relate, and those summer months are FAST approaching. What are we to do?
How about never going in the water? Problem solved, but summer ruined. Before you freak out, I am not going to be in a bathing suit in ANY of the following photos. Haha I am not even going to be showing you any bathing suits in this post. That post will be later. The reason I am even bringing it up is because, IT IS COMING. We need to start getting ready now. Until then, linen pants are perfect for spring. Cool, light, and they just scream summer is coming.
When I was a child we went to the lake all the time. I swear we went every weekend and would even camp out a couple of weeks during the summer there. When I smell Hawaiian Tropic or hear Credence Clearwater Revival, I get the biggest smile on my face. We used to camp at this little spot, that took us over an hour to drive to, and that had no electricity or running water. As a child we never cared about those things. The adults stayed in a camper, and us kids stayed in a tent. We were literally in the middle of nowhere. I can remember that we would take a bar of soap, and swim out into what seemed like the middle of the lake, but was really about 15 foot off the shore. We would wash with the soap and then dive under the water to rinse off. You had to swim away from the shoreline to be out of the muddy water. Yes, we thought we were clean, even though we were swimming in that nastiness. Lol!
Our favorite past time was skiing. We decided one year that we were going to re-enact the Cypress Gardens skiing stunt of having like 7 or 8 skiers all come up at the same time. Because we had so many of us, we had to have some people with shorter ropes so that we could all come up behind the boat. We actually accomplished the feat, but just not for very long, someone would always fall. Another thing we did was ride on a skimmer. My dad took an old piece of plywood and cut it into a circle. We would lay across the piece, with the edge sticking up in front of us, as we held onto the ski rope. There as we got on top of the water, we would drag our bodies up out of the water so that we were sitting on the board. You had to be careful to sit toward the back so the front would not dip under the water. Then we would we take the rope and put it behind our backs so that it would spin us around. So there we would go spinning round and round down the lake.
So, which outfit do you like best? I liked it both ways, but I ended up wearing the jean jacket to work. This is how you can dress casual but at the same time, still look dressy. Does that make any sense at all? I love these pants. I like the color, it is kind of a mushroom color, and I like the fit. They are elastic waist, which I like better in a casual linen pant, than a drawstring. If this had a drawstring I could not have worn this top with them. The drawstring would have made an ugly “bump” under the top. I bought these linen pants at Belk when they were having Belk days for hardly nothing. I also bought a top that matches the pants, so I can wear the top with another pair of pants, and then with these pants too. It is very versatile. The sweater is one that I bought at the QVC outlet store for $6.00. It is Linea by Louis Dell’Olio in ivory, with ribbing along the waistline. Mine is short sleeved, but here is a long sleeve version. It comes in sizes XXS to 3X.
The striped cardigan was bought at the same time, and it is by the same company. The colors are not exactly the same, but they are close enough for me. The tortoise shell necklace is the star of the show in this outfit. I bought this ages ago from T J Maxx. Here is a similar one for under $50.00, and that was no easy feat to find. Lol
My blue jean jacket is from Old Navy. I love a jacket like this in the Spring. You can just roll up the sleeves for a casual look, but it gives you a little warmth from the unpredictable spring weather.
By the way…….I am tooting my horn. I bet your thinking, “I’m glad that is the only thing that she is tooting.” Sorry, I’ve been around men all day, and I have heard a few pooter jokes today. An online magazine called Prime Women published an article today on “The 5 Best Fashion Blogs for Women Over 50.” And guess who was featured! EEEK!!! My very first top anything list! I know I have only been blogging a short time, and shouldn’t expect to ever make any one’s list of top bloggers, but every time I would see someone publish one that I am not in, I would get crushed a little. Whine, whine, whine. But not today! Today I am having a little time in the sunshine. It feels good I will admit. Ok, enough, my basking time is over.
Today is am linking up with Jess from Elegantly Dressed and Stylish. Be sure to check her out.

Congratulations, well deserved. Loved the reply to Barb concerning wrikkef, too funny!! You are a hoot and terrific blogger. Keep it up.
Congratulations! Love, love, love linen pants! To me they always say relax, it’s summer. Just a word about bathing suits (don’t worry, I would never expect anyone to actually post a blog modeling bathing suits!) but I only buy my suits from Lands End. They fit incredibly and last forever. Give them a look!
Congratulations, Tania, on being featured in the magazine! That is so exciting! I love your outfits today and am thinking of some linen pants. Very pretty. Have a great day!
This outfit is gorgeous on you, and definitely slimming! You mentioned your pudgy white body, and you don’t look a bit pudgy in these pics!
Thank you for your blog! I have been feeling so old and ugly lately because I am surrounded by 20 and 30 some-things. It is so uplifting to see this blog-I really needed the reminder that 50 is not old!!!!!
Congratulations on being recognized by Prime Women and being in the Top 5!!!! That is awesome news and I’m so happy for you!!! Your outfit today looks great both ways you styled it. I have to admit, I’m getting a bit jealous over your access to that dang QVC Outlet! haha Oh well, that’s the way it goes sometimes. Still happy for you!!!
Oh! Congratulations!
I think we had the same childhood except the lake was 10 minutes from our house. My parents would get home at 5:10 and we’d head to the lake for water skiing. Camping on the weekends and “baths” in the lake. EXCEPT that Mom and I went to church on Sunday morning. My dad didn’t go to church then (he does now!) and our camping friends were Catholic so they could go on Sunday evening. I always thought that wasn’t fair! Anyway, after biscuits over an open fire for breakfast and a quick ski over the glassy water, off to church we went. Great memories.
There was a little church up the road from our campsite that we would go to, but it was very primitive as I remember. We always cooked fried potatoes with mushroom gravy poured over them outside over the fire.
I am so happy , Tania, for the recognition you have been receiving lately. I hope it continues and many, many good things come from it!!
Once again, another outfit I’m totally loving! That cardi-kimono- omygosh, LOVE it- and the necklace is, as the kids say, ‘off thew chain’ ! HA!
I used to have some drawstring linen pants about 30 lbs ago, I think it’s time to re-invest in some!
Love!!
I love your blog! It definitely deserves to be in the top 5!!! It is real, and I love that you look for bargains! It is my little treat with my morning coffee! I wish I lived near the QVC outlet!!
