LINEN PANTS ARE PERFECT FOR SPRING
Today I was looking at my covered pool in the back yard and I was asking myself, “Are you ready for bathing suit weather?” NO, NO, NO, was the resounding answer. Just the thoughts of putting on a bathing suit can send cold shivers all down my pudgy, white, wrinkled body. I’ll stop there with all the adjectives, I think you get the idea. Unfortunately most of you can also relate, and those summer months are FAST approaching. What are we to do?
How about never going in the water? Problem solved, but summer ruined. Before you freak out, I am not going to be in a bathing suit in ANY of the following photos. Haha I am not even going to be showing you any bathing suits in this post. That post will be later. The reason I am even bringing it up is because, IT IS COMING. We need to start getting ready now. Until then, linen pants are perfect for spring. Cool, light, and they just scream summer is coming.
When I was a child we went to the lake all the time. I swear we went every weekend and would even camp out a couple of weeks during the summer there. When I smell Hawaiian Tropic or hear Credence Clearwater Revival, I get the biggest smile on my face. We used to camp at this little spot, that took us over an hour to drive to, and that had no electricity or running water. As a child we never cared about those things. The adults stayed in a camper, and us kids stayed in a tent. We were literally in the middle of nowhere. I can remember that we would take a bar of soap, and swim out into what seemed like the middle of the lake, but was really about 15 foot off the shore. We would wash with the soap and then dive under the water to rinse off. You had to swim away from the shoreline to be out of the muddy water. Yes, we thought we were clean, even though we were swimming in that nastiness. Lol!
Our favorite past time was skiing. We decided one year that we were going to re-enact the Cypress Gardens skiing stunt of having like 7 or 8 skiers all come up at the same time. Because we had so many of us, we had to have some people with shorter ropes so that we could all come up behind the boat. We actually accomplished the feat, but just not for very long, someone would always fall. Another thing we did was ride on a skimmer. My dad took an old piece of plywood and cut it into a circle. We would lay across the piece, with the edge sticking up in front of us, as we held onto the ski rope. There as we got on top of the water, we would drag our bodies up out of the water so that we were sitting on the board. You had to be careful to sit toward the back so the front would not dip under the water. Then we would we take the rope and put it behind our backs so that it would spin us around. So there we would go spinning round and round down the lake.
So, which outfit do you like best? I liked it both ways, but I ended up wearing the jean jacket to work. This is how you can dress casual but at the same time, still look dressy. Does that make any sense at all? I love these pants. I like the color, it is kind of a mushroom color, and I like the fit. They are elastic waist, which I like better in a casual linen pant, than a drawstring. If this had a drawstring I could not have worn this top with them. The drawstring would have made an ugly “bump” under the top. I bought these linen pants at Belk when they were having Belk days for hardly nothing. I also bought a top that matches the pants, so I can wear the top with another pair of pants, and then with these pants too. It is very versatile. The sweater is one that I bought at the QVC outlet store for $6.00. It is Linea by Louis Dell’Olio in ivory, with ribbing along the waistline. Mine is short sleeved, but here is a long sleeve version. It comes in sizes XXS to 3X.
The striped cardigan was bought at the same time, and it is by the same company. The colors are not exactly the same, but they are close enough for me. The tortoise shell necklace is the star of the show in this outfit. I bought this ages ago from T J Maxx. Here is a similar one for under $50.00, and that was no easy feat to find. Lol
My blue jean jacket is from Old Navy. I love a jacket like this in the Spring. You can just roll up the sleeves for a casual look, but it gives you a little warmth from the unpredictable spring weather.
By the way…….I am tooting my horn. I bet your thinking, “I’m glad that is the only thing that she is tooting.” Sorry, I’ve been around men all day, and I have heard a few pooter jokes today. An online magazine called Prime Women published an article today on “The 5 Best Fashion Blogs for Women Over 50.” And guess who was featured! EEEK!!! My very first top anything list! I know I have only been blogging a short time, and shouldn’t expect to ever make any one’s list of top bloggers, but every time I would see someone publish one that I am not in, I would get crushed a little. Whine, whine, whine. But not today! Today I am having a little time in the sunshine. It feels good I will admit. Ok, enough, my basking time is over.
Today is am linking up with Jess from Elegantly Dressed and Stylish. Be sure to check her out.

The clothes are beautiful. Thank you for this blog. Maybe I’m missing it but does it say anywhere where the clothes come from? I’d love some of these outfits.
Dawn, thanks so much for following along on the blog. I do try to tell where my outfit is from, and I link to it if possible. You can click on the pictures of the items after my photo, or you can click on the highlighted texts to be directed to the items.
I love the way you dress, it’s my style too. I am almost 68 but look pretty good. I have a flat stomach and no rolls even though I’m not skinny nor fat, at all. I wear a one piece bathing suit and a pretty long mesh kind of blouse. I walk around the beach a lot in this get up and perfect ! Thank you for sharing.
I Doesnt it bring back memories when you hear a song.. I used to playi in a blues band, so when I hear Stevie Ray Vaughn or Clapton it takes me back. Love Credence we used to listen to them at moms house. Love the neutral look, very fresh, the necklace is a great addition as well and stands out
Love linen too. Great photos.
Awesome memories… My childhood vacations always included camping with cousins… . Congrats on your honor.
I love the outfit today. Very attractive. I so enjoy your posts. Keep up the great stories and outfits.
Love your style choices. And while not trying to put it would be so helpful to know the size of clothes , your height and where clothes can be purchased from. Thanks.
Congratulations, well deserved. Loved the reply to Barb concerning wrikkef, too funny!! You are a hoot and terrific blogger. Keep it up.
Congratulations! Love, love, love linen pants! To me they always say relax, it’s summer. Just a word about bathing suits (don’t worry, I would never expect anyone to actually post a blog modeling bathing suits!) but I only buy my suits from Lands End. They fit incredibly and last forever. Give them a look!
Congratulations, Tania, on being featured in the magazine! That is so exciting! I love your outfits today and am thinking of some linen pants. Very pretty. Have a great day!
This outfit is gorgeous on you, and definitely slimming! You mentioned your pudgy white body, and you don’t look a bit pudgy in these pics!
Thank you for your blog! I have been feeling so old and ugly lately because I am surrounded by 20 and 30 some-things. It is so uplifting to see this blog-I really needed the reminder that 50 is not old!!!!!
Congratulations on being recognized by Prime Women and being in the Top 5!!!! That is awesome news and I’m so happy for you!!! Your outfit today looks great both ways you styled it. I have to admit, I’m getting a bit jealous over your access to that dang QVC Outlet! haha Oh well, that’s the way it goes sometimes. Still happy for you!!!
Oh! Congratulations!
I think we had the same childhood except the lake was 10 minutes from our house. My parents would get home at 5:10 and we’d head to the lake for water skiing. Camping on the weekends and “baths” in the lake. EXCEPT that Mom and I went to church on Sunday morning. My dad didn’t go to church then (he does now!) and our camping friends were Catholic so they could go on Sunday evening. I always thought that wasn’t fair! Anyway, after biscuits over an open fire for breakfast and a quick ski over the glassy water, off to church we went. Great memories.
There was a little church up the road from our campsite that we would go to, but it was very primitive as I remember. We always cooked fried potatoes with mushroom gravy poured over them outside over the fire.
I am so happy , Tania, for the recognition you have been receiving lately. I hope it continues and many, many good things come from it!!
Once again, another outfit I’m totally loving! That cardi-kimono- omygosh, LOVE it- and the necklace is, as the kids say, ‘off thew chain’ ! HA!
I used to have some drawstring linen pants about 30 lbs ago, I think it’s time to re-invest in some!
Love!!
I love your blog! It definitely deserves to be in the top 5!!! It is real, and I love that you look for bargains! It is my little treat with my morning coffee! I wish I lived near the QVC outlet!!
Congrats on making the top 5 bloggers!!! Love the others, but you remain my Fav!!!! Thanks again for my daily dose of fun and fashion!!! Enjoy this beautiful spring day!
Love me some CCR! You look so great in these linen pants. I haven’t tried the look yet. Maybe I should get on board? Thanks for sharing your summer memories. Mine are of the beach, skiing/sailing in Galveston Bay, and “tubing” down the Frio and Guadalupe rivers. BJ Thomas wrote a song about the Frio River and Garner State Park. Literally, generations of Texans have learned to 2-step under the oak tree in Garner! LOL Have a blessed day!
I love your blog and fashion. Not to mention your sense of humour! I live in Ontario, Canada and even though I love it here, our spring this year is not going as well as last years weather wise! So thanks for getting me thinking of the summer and all those bright colours you have been wearing.
I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago…and I LOVE IT! Your style is fantastic and REAL…and you shop at all my favorite stores! I passed on the article from PRIME yesterday and told my friends how much I enjoy your blog! Hoping you get a few more followers because you deserve them. THANK YOU for making fashion fun for those of us getting older. I have always been a more classic, conservative dresser but like to add some fun pieces. I am not the best “outfit” planner…my sister is the Fashionista in the family! But you have given me some great ideas to emulate. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your wonderful stories and family!
I like your outfit best with the cardigan. There is just something so clean and crisp about the totally neutral outfit. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t wear it with the jean jacket, because I would!
🙂

So happy you were recognized! Congratulations, you deserve it. Great outfits today and the necklace is the star of the show. Great post and then you threw in a little CCR. How fun is that!
I just found your blog and am really enjoying the outfit ideas! I am headed into my closet to pull out my beige linen pants now! Congrats on being a top 5!!!
High 5 to the top 5…How exciting!!! I’m all about a jean jacket as I own several, but I personally love the cardigan best with these amazing linen pants. I love linen pants and I don’t care if they get wrinkled either. Linen just wrinkles!
Congrats on being in the top five! I love this blog and can’t wait to read it first thing in the morning. Love your fashion sense!
You are my “top one” blog! 🙂 Congratulations.
Mine too!!!!!
Congrats on your making the list. You totally deserve it. I love your blog because you list exactly what you’re wearing and where to find simiar items. And the next time I drive cross country, I will have to make a detour ,to Vansant Va. and go to that QVC outlet!
I love following your blog and look forward to it every morning. Congratulations on your number 1! Love the CCR reference. I too am a teen of the 70’s. Keep inspiring me.
Congratulations on being named one of the 5 best fashion blogs! You’re blog is great and I really enjoy reading it.
I had a bad allergy day yesterday and was not feeling well when I woke up today but reading your blog put me in a much better frame of mind and I am ready to move on with my day. Thank you for being a blessing today. You are a special lady. Love the outfits and story of the lake.
Look forward to this every day. Love it!
Congrats on making the top 5! Of course you deserve it—you work hard! Always enjoy hearing what you are up to and seeing what you got at QVC! So jealous! Have a great day!
I saw you one the “Best” list and was so excited for you. I love your posts and look forward to it every day!
Gerri
I also look at my pool and thank God for my healthy body. Trust me it does not look good in a swimsuit (my fault). But I am alive and well. Plus we are blessed….it took hard work over the the years but I finally have my own pool. So thank you God!!
You are so cute and funny! Love your fashion style and thrifty shopping. Some bloggers model such high priced items too rich for my purse.
Congrats on making the list of Five Best Blogs. I subscribe to almost all of those five but I find yours to be the best for “real” fashion for “real” women. I appreciate that you show affordable clothing mixed with higher priced pieces. Thank You!
Congrats!! Yours is the most “my style” of the list!!! Keep posting your cute outits and happiness?
Congrats on your recognition! Hard work pays off! Great job! – Love the linen pants. So comfy & so stylish! Win/win! I can appreciate both looks (cardigan & jean jacket). Didn’t know tortoise was so $$ now. Maybe I should find mine and wear that sucker! lol! Congrats again, Tania! Super nice blog!
?? Love! Congratulations.
Congrats on making the top 5! I can see why you were included with your fashion sense, fun stories, and Christian heart. You have a wonderful gift of writing as though we just visiting over a cup of coffee. Cute outfit too!
Awesome job making that top 5…..with God, all things are possible!!! Thanks for sharing your lake memories. I too, have fond memories of ” the cottage” my Grandparents owned. It had electricity and cold water, no hot water! We used to do the soap thing too, fish off the dock, take rowboat rides toward sundown. The sun porch had glass chimes, and a pirate lobster keeping watch. Sadly, the cottage was sold when I was in my late 30s and burned down shortly after, and so strong are those memories, that I actually have dreams in my sleep about being there. Would have loved to have purchased that cottage and kept it in our family. It may be gone, but it always is there to visit, in my memories! So thankful for your blog, have a blessed day! ???
I love both looks! I really liked seeing the jean jacket and different ways you can wear. Looks dressy and casual at the same time. Congratulations on the blog too! You do an awesome job and look forward to seeing your “looks” every day! I turn 50 on June 1 and this is the perfect blog for me! Your ideas and style is awesome!
I am so happy you received recognition. Fashion blogs are my new hobby. Yours is the one I look for first. How do you post so early?! You have the perfect balance of fashion info, descriptions, etc. and “life”commentary and stories. I feel like we are friends.
I can schedule the post to go live at at certain time of day. I picked 1:00 a.m., but believe me I am usually in bed bt 10:00 p.m. each night.
I’ve been reading & enjoying your blog, with my coffe every morning for months now! You always get me started with a lift. It is like chatting with a friend for a second before your work begins.
Congrats on the list! You really are fun & a kind spirit. Your love of life & your happiness comes thru in your blogging. Keep doing what you’re doing! It’s great!
Congrats on your well deserved top 5 article! You are the best of the 4 I read each day! Thanks for brining up wonderful summer time memories this morning! Love the outfit today, both ways!
I look forward to your post every day. You have truly inspired me by your positive and upbeat attitude not to mention the fantastic fashion. Congrats on making the list!
Congratulations! You deserve to be recognized for your excellent blog. I love it and look forward to your daily posts. Thank you for teaching me how to coordinate colors in my outfits and adding interest. I never realized how dull I was dressing. You are taking me out of my comfort zone and into my fashion fun zone! Continue please. I love this outfit for today. Want a duplicate.
It is no wonder you are such a fun person today, it all started with your childhood. You were raised to enjoy life. That is a blessing.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
Thank you for all your kind words. I want to give credit where credit is due, and that would be to the Lord. Through him all things are possible. That even means that an older, computer challenged, in the middle of nowhere woman could start a blog, and HE could make it a success.
Congrats. Keep up the great blogs!
Congrats on making the top 5- I love your blog! I also love the pants with the cardigan and necklace. Great outfit!
Congratulations you deserve it. I love this outfit and you have such great style. I look forward to reading your blog every day. You always make us smile.
What and where is the QVC outlet store? You have some great stuff from there
It is a little store in Vansant, Virginia that purchases overstock and return items from QVC. There clothing is 12.00 per piece, and shoes run 25.00. They also carry a wide variety of items like dishes, purses, household goods, and Christmas items.
Congratulations on making the list!!! I love the linen pants with the cardigan – more sophisticated than the jean jacket – but that’s just my taste. And I really admire how you mix colours and prints, not many of us are that brave. 🙂
I also grew up going to a lake and riding on plywood! Great memories! That plywood would bounce up and down and we would laugh till we cried!
BTW I already knew you’d be in the top 5!
You look fabulous today. You are right about the necklace. It is prefect for that outfit. Congratulations on the article. You deserve to be recognized !
I love these outfits. Both outfits are cute and thanks for the tips and memories!!
Congratulations. Love the outfit but not a fan of linen, don’t like to iron.
LOVE this outfit, especially with the sweater–classic with a modern twist. Congrats on the Prime Woman magazine shout out!! Very exciting. You deserve it.
You totally deserved being on that top 5 list. I agree with the others! You’re my favorite blogs and a must read with coffee each morning. Love the variety of outfits and you give me inspiration to start my day.
I really like the striped cardigan in the outfit today. Warm weather has to hit here soon. I’ll check on your link to try and find it. Have a great day!
The cardigan/vest with fringe has stayed in my mind since I saw your posts. Just found one on clearance on QVC tpdau so am going to take a chance it won’t overwhelm my 5’2″ short frame. Thanks for helping me try new things!
I hope it works for you Audrey!!! Try new things, some will work and some won’t. But at least you tried:)
????congrats!!! I love the look with the jean jacket! I love the coolness of the kinen pants ! I worry about linen getting wrikkef. Any tips?
Oh boy! That should read linen pants getting wrinkled. Lol
Barb, I don’t worry about wrikkef, or wrinkles (haha) in linen pants. It is linen, it is supposed to have wrinkles. Just like me. Lol!
Congratulations! Well deserved! I follow 4 of the 5 but you are my favorite. You keep it real. You give us options that are affordable. Yours is the only blog I subscribe to daily and look forward to reading it first thing in the am with my coffee. Keep up the great work! I feel more good things will come to you!
Whoo hoo!!! Well deserved to be included in that list
Congratulations
Congratulations Tania well deserved. You’re one of my favourite blogs. Such great taste and I love the variety of outfits for all occasions. It’s really helped me in putting outfits together
I am so LOVING your site! YOUR stories make me smile AND make my day! Thank YOU for sharing and being YOU! Warmest blessings to you and ALOHA from Kauai, Hawaii ???
CCR and us 60+ fans….you’re such a youngster (meant as a big compliment)! Even though I’m so much older than you, I really enjoy and appreciate your fashion sense. You’re young, but classic. I can take the fashion you suggest and tailor it to my “older generation” (“talkin’ bout my generation”). Thank you for offering fashion for people that aren’t super young, but younger than the “oldies but goodies”. I love your blog!
Ha! Thanks for the CCR! Good memories there..and great pants too! 🙂
