Lightweight Sweaters For Summer You’re Sure To Love

I don’t care how hot it gets; I’m ALWAYS going to keep a sweater close by. The weather can turn suddenly, and it’s difficult to eat in a restaurant without one. The servers are working hard, so they like the AC on HIGH. Today, I’m sharing some lightweight sweaters for summer you’re sure to love. I’m featuring items from several different retailers, so you’ll have lots of choices.

I wanted to start by showing you an outfit featuring a lightweight sweater I love! The Brushed Short Sleeve Lounge Tee is soooo soft! I love the Dolman sleeves and the banded bottom; it is so flattering. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits great. Since I wanted this look to be dressy, I added these Ultra-Stretch Ponte Kick Flare Pants in black. It is funny how the simplest looks can also look the most elegant. I’m wearing a medium in the pants, and they are borderline tight, so if you are in between sizes, you’ll want to size up.
I added my favorite Black Pumps to elevate the outfit. I wore a similar outfit in February with a brown Mongolian Cashmere Cardigan Sweater.
Lightweight Sweaters For Summer You’re Sure To Love – Ann Taylor
It doesn’t get any more classic than Ann Taylor. With long sleeves, an open front, and ribbed cuffs and hem, this sweater combines comfort and elegance. Plus, it’s easy to care for—just toss it in the wash. Whether you drape it over a dress or pair it with jeans, this cardigan elevates any outfit. Also available in white.
This had me at the flirty sleeves! I love the green but if it’s not your color it’s also available in black and purple. It’s a great sweater to wear to dress up or down! Plus, the blend of viscose and nylon would not only feel soft against your skin but also hold up well in the wash.
Neutrals are huge this summer and I love this relaxed sweater from Ann. It comes with a comfy boatneck, long sleeves, and drop shoulders, plus it’s got that relaxed fit that feels like a weekend no matter what day it is. Made from a cozy cotton-nylon blend, it’s easy to care for too—just pop it in the wash. This would be great to take on vacation. It would look awesome with a great pair of jeans!
Lightweight Sweaters For Summer You’re Sure To Love – Talbots
Talbot’s is one of my faves as you long-time readers know. How pretty is this striped sweater? It’s made from a super soft blend of linen and organically grown cotton, which would feel amazing whether you’re lounging at home or stepping out for a casual day. The v-neck and side vents are nice details and would make it super easy to move around in. Plus, like most of the others, it’s a breeze to care for—just toss it in the wash and lay it flat to dry.
Lightweight Sweaters For Summer You’re Sure To Love – Amazon
Need a new go-to cardigan? I have this in several colors. It’s made with a soft cotton blend that is comfy yet polished. You can button it up for a classic vibe or leave it open for a more laid-back feel. It’s available in over 25 colors and is very affordable. If you like your sweaters a bit more roomy, size up one size.
Again with the sleeves! Check out this adorable pullover knit sweater. It’s soft, lightweight, and comes in a bunch of fun colors like a playful pink. The V-neck and hollow-out cable knit design add a little flair, making it easy to dress up with a necklace or keep casual with jeans. Perfect for a comfy day in or a chilly evening out. Wouldn’t this be lovely with white jeans and cute platform sandals?!
Lightweight Sweaters For Summer You’re Sure To Love – JJill
This is a great color for almost everyone. Sidenote: I remember years ago, Oprah said that this was a terrific color to wear on TV. So if you’re going on Good Morning America anytime soon, keep that in mind. lol. Anyway, this beauty is crafted from a luxe linen blend, making it super light and just right for those breezy days. Whether you’re going for a casual look or something a bit dressier, this V-neck with dolman sleeves works wonders. Plus, it comes in a variety of vibrant colors to spice up your wardrobe if you’re not in love with this TV-approved look.
Ready to add a splash of art to your wardrobe? The Windsor Sweater is a must-see. This fancy knit crochet piece is perfect for layering, especially over a contrasting tank. It’s made from a comfy cotton-nylon blend and designed to drape loosely. Whether you stick with your usual size for a relaxed fit or size down for something a bit snugger, this sweater is a standout. Plus it would go with everything!
I know some of you don’t love sleeveless, but this would be great under a light denim jacket if you’re going casual, or a contrasting cardigan if you want something a bit more elevated. This sweater rocks a neat V-neck and has some chic ribbed details that really make it pop. This would look great with skirts, dress pants, or jeans.

Any suggestions for avoiding sweaters from pilling?
thanks!
Susan, the softer the sweater, the more it will pill. It is just the way it works. So, you can buy stiff and scratchy sweaters if you don’t want the hassle of pills. 🤪
The peonies in your photo are pretty. The wallpaper ones go up and over with the huge flower (head) like they are going to attack.
You shared some great options with us, along with a variety of choices. It is very easy for me to sweat and get hot on the back of my neck so I don’t need to take a sweater with me when we are dining out. However, there are times that my arms would welcome a jacket or sweater.
I’m 75 years old and 5’2”. 140lbs. Sleeveless is pretty much out for me unless it’s covered with something. Do you think you could do a post with ideas for those like me?
I love all your posts especially the Sunday’s! To God goes the glory indeed!!
I did a post last year on this. The items are probably sold out, but you might get some inspiration: https://50isnotold.com/stylish-ways-to-cover-flabby-arms-in-the-summer/
I definitely keep a sweater handy. I’m sooo cold natured!! Love these choices.
The peonies are smaller and have color. Much more friendly. 🙂
I don’t go out to eat without taking a jacket. It’s gotten to be sooo cold in so many places. I usually take a denim jacket and still feel chilly. If I ever opened a restaurant, I’d have an A/C unit with serious power for the back and have the seating area temp not quite as frigid. I’m understanding that some people (and especially workers) like it cooler, but it’s tough to enjoy your meal when it’s COLD in there! 🙁
When that happens, I will slide over and cuddle up to Joe to try and steal some of his heat. Lol!
Definitely! Even for a trip to the store.
Love all of the sweaters pictured!
Thank you for your wonderful blog. Love following you! You are an inspiration to me!
