I AM CRUSHING ON GINGHAM
I know a lot of you saw that movie with Robert Redford called the Horse Whisperer. If you didn’t then you need to check it out, it was a great movie. And, I bet a lot of you have seen the television show called the Dog Whisperer with Caesar Millan. I wish he would come and train my Lucy to not growl and bark when a new person comes into the house. But, I bet you have never heard of the Turtle Whisperer.
The other day I pulled into the driveway and I stopped to go and check the mail in the mailbox. As I was getting ready to get back in the car I noticed that Joe was starting to come over the hill (that is how you get to my house from the main road) but instead he did a big U-turn and left again. I just thought that he must have forgotten something and really didn’t think anything about it. About 15 minutes later he came home and I asked him what he had forgotten. He looked at me like I had grown three heads and asked me what I was talking about. I explained what I had seen and he laughed and said, “didn’t you see that turtle back there?” You have to understand something about Joe. He is gruff on the exterior but a big soft marshmallow on the inside. This is probably the 8 millionth turtle that he has rescued and that is barely an exaggeration.
Isn’t this the cutest little top? I bought this the other day at Cato Fashions when I was spending a $50.00 gift card that they had sent me. I just wanted to see what all that I could get for that amount so I went to the sales rack and started looking. I bought this dress, the top that I have on today, and two more tops. One of the tops didn’t fit so I am having to take it back. This top is a very thin gauze blouse so I have on a camisole tank top under it. I just love the peasant style neckline along with the lace and crochet details. It looks like fringe at the hem but it is crochet. Unfortunately, it does not go all the way around the top but the more I thought about it I decided that maybe that was a good thing. I bet when you sat down you would rip the crochet and this way you don’t have to worry about that.
These Jeanette earrings are a real statement piece. I LOVE them!!! I have noticed this style of earring all over the place so I guess all of the jewelry manufacturers got the memo. Lol! I didn’t wear a necklace because I wanted the focus to be on the earrings but I did add two “bling” bracelets, the Opal and the Ezra. If you would like to place an order just go here and pick a party with my name in it.
These bright pink loafers are by Aerosoles and they are very comfortable. I thought that this look could use a pop of color and the shoes do that very nicely. I like the buckle detail but it was the color that sold me on the shoes. I would never have bought such a bold color when I was in my forties and that was a shame. I hate that it took me fifty years to figure out that it was okay if someone noticed me. Lol!
The black and white gingham pants are old. They are a pair of pixie pants from Old Navy and I still really like this pair. I have been crushing on the gingham print for about 4 or 5 years and I am still drawn to it. I found a pair of houndstooth pixie pants that you might like and then a BUNCH of gingham items that caught my attention. Lol!
There are a couple of sales still going on that you don’t want to miss out on. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now open to everyone. Nordstrom offers free shipping and free returns so they are great for “trying” things, especially if you don’t have a lot of shopping opportunities like me. The Talbots Red Hanger Sale is still ongoing and they have a lot of really cute items on sale. And, finally, you have my Retirement Event still going on through Sunday night. There are a lot of specials being offered in that. If you have not already joined the event just go here and request to join.

Aww, thank you very much, Carla!
I read your blog everyday. Dinner or winter and have from the start. I don’t always have time to comment lately….life is in a cycle of high sped right now. Love gingham! I have about 4 gingham tops and two pairs of pants. I too have issues. Glad you were able to retire early! Go girl and Enjoy!!! Best…Kathy
So nice to hear from you, Kathy. I understand about busy, so I do appreciate your taking the time to read my blog. ?
Im so glad i found your blog in my forty’s so i dont have to wear boring clothes for 10 more years ! This is a great classic outfit. I need new pink shoes those maybe the ones
I am so glad that you found me also, Nicole! I hope you can get lots of inspiration about clothing and also navigating the 50’s.
I would definitely wear this and adding the pop of colour is just right. When I think of all rhe years in my youth I wore drab colours I cringe. I love colour, patterns and texture and wear them all the time!
I know how you feel, Janet. I would never wear the color red in my youth because I was afraid that it was being too bold. That is just crazy!
I just picked up a gingham top at Target as well am crushing on it too.
I think that gingham is such a fun pattern!
I have an addiction to gingham too Tania. I also have the pixie pants in the same pattern, another something in common! ?. Enjoy your day!!
Why am I not surprised, Susanne? Lol!
Super cute look Tania as usual! I have a question for you, what do you wear when you are cleaning your house or going to the grocery store? Or do you always look so fabulous all the time? ?
Bonnie, ain’t nobody got time to clean a house. Lol! But, I did wear this to the grocery store the other day. Lol!
Love the top and your hair looks great!
Awww, thanks, Deborah!
That is so my type of outfit Tania LOVE it especially the trousers and those shoes are the cutest ?
You are right, Bernie. This outfit does look like something you would wear.
That is such a pretty top you have found in the sale and looks a heavier weight than it is in the photo. You are right to go with less jewellery in this instance and once again looking fabulous. Have a lovely weekend.
I love finding cute items on sale. It makes my day!
This outfit is perfect for you and looks awesome too
