HOW TO WEAR VELVET FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND BEYOND
Velvet is a material that is rich, sumptuous, and elegant looking. It is a perfect choice for black-tie affairs and any special occasion, including the holidays. However, many people make the mistake of thinking that velvet is “only” for a special occasion, and they miss out on wearing this gorgeous material year-round. Here are some ways to wear velvet for the holidays and beyond.
This post is sponsored by Chico’s, and I will receive compensation, but the opinions expressed are my own.
Velvet is definitely a holiday favorite, but you can take today’s outfit and wear it all winter long, and the top even into the summer. The key to wearing velvet beyond the holidays is to mix the materials. I am decked out in head to toe velvet, but wearing each of these pieces separately will completely change the look.
This Travelers Collection Velvet Tank is beautiful and will be perfect for the approaching holidays. I can see carving a turkey wearing this top and a pair of jeans. This tank would look perfect standing in front of your Christmas tree or ringing in the New Year with a glass of Champagne, and this top is bound to make 2021 a fabulous year. But, I can also see myself wearing this tank with a pair of jeans this spring, a skirt for a lunch date, or even with shorts and a cardigan this summer. I am wearing a size 1 in this black velvet tank (also available in blue), which fits me perfectly!
The gray/black animal print velveteen jacket looks great with the tank, and it would look fabulous with jeans or faux-leather pants. This jacket is a classic style, but the animal print and velveteen material is a modern and chic twist. The jacket runs true to size, and I am wearing a size 1 in the jacket. This size is still roomy, and I won’t have any problem adding a long-sleeve turtleneck to this look.
Jewelry that can look dressy and casual at the same time is hard to find. So, when I run across pieces like this convertible crystal beaded ball necklace and matching earrings, I grab them. I thought the crystal beaded balls were a great play on the dropping of the ball for New Year’s Eve, but the versatility of the set is why I wanted to show them to all of you. The necklace can be easily shortened so that you can wear it with any neckline.
I can’t tell you how much I love these black velvet jeggings! The jeggings look dressy and festive because of the material, but they still fit and feel like you are wearing your favorite jeans. How cute would these jeggings be with a denim jacket? For New Year’s Eve, throw on a cashmere sweater and sparkly jewelry, and you are all set for the evening. I ordered a size 1 in these jeggings because I was afraid that they might run small. However, they are true to size, and I could have sized down to my usual .5 size. The jeggings also come in several colors, and I will give you a heads up… I also ordered these in red.
To give you an idea of items that I would wear with velvet beyond the holidays, I came up with this list.
I appreciate Chico’s for sponsoring this post and allowing me to tell all of my friends about their beautiful and unique clothing line.
I must admit I have been keeping velvet for special occasions which means I hardly ever wear it. What a shame! I need to haul my velvet pieces out and reinvent them.
Ooh how I love this look! SO classy and attractive! Your hair looks beautiful too!
Thanks, Charlcy! I think velvet is elegant and classy looking too.!
Tania, loved this post because I love wearing velvet with jeans and … You gave me some ideas.
P.S. I ordered the collagen powder and can’t wait to try it.

You look sharp…black becomes you.
