50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR PLAID BUT NOT LOOK LIKE A LUMBERJACK | FASHION OVER 40I am filling so refreshed after this weekend. I did NOTHING! It was so nice not to have anyplace to go or anything to do. We did have Joe’s friend over the weekend and it was great getting to know him. You can tell he is a very nice man when he declared my Saturday night’s meal as one of his top 10 meals ever! Lol! I would like to think that it was my “flair” for fixing Uncle Ben’s Rice and grilling out a superb steak (complete with garlic draw butter) but the truth is, it was probably the cheesed egg rolls that we purchased at a local eatery.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR PLAID BUT NOT LOOK LIKE A LUMBERJACK | FASHION OVER 40 I know everyone probably has one of those “hole-in-the-wall” type joints that have amazing food. Ours is called Cuz’s Uptown Bar-B-Que and it is an old barn that has been converted into a restaurant. EVERYTHING on the menu is ah-mazing, but their cheese egg rolls really take it to a different level. If there is anyone reading this from my neck of the woods they are sitting here nodding in agreement. The crazy thing is, this restaurant is only open Wednesday through Saturday and they are even closed completely during certain months of the year. I know a lady (not me) who will purchase a hundred of these eggrolls and freeze them so that she can have them while they are closed. I might try that this year, along with a gallon or two of the red sauce that they serve with them. If any of you have an ah-mazing recipe for cheesed eggrolls, please post it!!! Can you tell that I have been dieting? Food is high up on my cravings list. Lol!!!50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR PLAID BUT NOT LOOK LIKE A LUMBERJACK | FASHION OVER 40 I am sure that some of you are not yet experiencing the cooler temperatures of fall but here in Virginia, the temps are dropping in the mornings and the afternoons. Joe is starting to whine that he might not be able to keep taking his outdoor shower much longer. The neighbors might be rejoicing, however. Lol! This look today is a fall transition look that is getting me ready for the upcoming season. This cute waterfall plaid vest is one that I got c/o Cato Fashions the other day. I chose the navy vest with the red accents but it also comes in a couple of different colors. This is a very flattering style and the look will make you appear slimmer than you are. If you have never tried this style of vest, do yourself a favor and go try one on, you will be amazed at the effect. You can find this vest by clicking HERE and I am wearing a medium for size reference. If you can’t make up your mind about the size then I recommend sizing down. There is a lot of material and this does not need to button or close.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR PLAID BUT NOT LOOK LIKE A LUMBERJACK | FASHION OVER 40 I only added my gold filigree Ciara earrings and the large gold cuff bracelet called the Muriel to this look. I liked the boldness of the cuff bracelet and I thought it mimicked the plaid design. Lol! Am I the only person who would have even thought of that? I think that with navy you can pick either silver or gold jewelry to wear, both look equally as good. I am just partial to the earrings and I look for every opportunity to wear them. They are showy, very lightweight, and make a big statement. Did I mention that they are only 10.00? If you are interested in either of these looks then go HERE and pick a party with my name in it. Have fun shopping! 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR PLAID BUT NOT LOOK LIKE A LUMBERJACK | FASHION OVER 40Cato Fashion is all about denim this fall. They sent me these dark wash skinny jeans to try and I love them. I ordered my normal size and they fit great. These have stretch in them so the “skinny” part was not an issue. I worry when I see jeans that have skinny in the name that they will be too tight. If anything, I might have worn a size smaller. The detail that I REALLY like is that these are already cuffed for you. The cuff features a raw edge hem but this ankle length is perfect for wearing booties. You don’t have to worry if you have the cuff to the correct height. These are available in regular (here) and plus (here).50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR PLAID BUT NOT LOOK LIKE A LUMBERJACK | FASHION OVER 40 I have on my navy suede Marc Fisher peep-toe booties today. They look odd to me because it has been a while since I have seen myself wearing booties. It won’t be long until that is all that I will be wearing. This pair has been a favorite of mine for over a year and they are still available on QVC but they are limited in the colors and sizes. Go here to check them out.
