How To Wear Jeans For The Holidays

Because so many of you loved my “how to wear jeans for Thanksgiving and still look stylish” post, I figured I would show you a few more outfits styling jeans for the holidays. I think most of us are dressing more casually these days, especially if we’re going to be traveling or cooking for our family.

A Fairisle Sweater and Jeans for the Holidays

Many of us make the mistake of thinking that we must wear red or green, especially for Christmas. You can still look festive and have a holiday vibe without wearing those colors. Today I’m wearing this Fairisle sweater in a salmon/pink color, and I think it looks very festive. The sweater colors are gorgeous browns and khaki, which could be worn any time of the year, not just for the holidays. This sweater would look great with khaki chinos, brown corduroys, or ivory pants. This sweater is a cotton blend, but it does have 5% Merino wool in the fabric. In case you might be allergic to wool, I just wanted to bring it to your attention. I’m wearing a size medium, and I think it fits me great.

This metallic down-filled puffer vest is so cute. I love this Champagne/Bronze color and was surprised at how many things I already had that look great with it. The faux-fur-collar is removable, but I think it is perfect for the holidays. I’ll link to some other sweaters I ordered that can be worn with this puffer to give you an idea of more ways to style it. Plus, this button-up shirt matches each of the sweaters and can be worn underneath them.

Here is the back view of the vest so you can see the length. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great, even with the sweater underneath.

I’m wearing barely bootcut jeans in moon tide wash with this outfit. Dark wash jeans look dressier than light-colored jeans, and I thought the dark wash looked great against the salmon-colored sweater. I’m wearing a size 8 in these jeans, but they feel a little tight through the waist, so if you’re between sizes, you might want to size up.

I love this Brahmin handbag. It was a gift from my husband for Valentine’s Day, although he didn’t know he was giving it to me. He also doesn’t know he’s giving me one for Christmas. LOL! I just ordered the Tabitha Brahmin bag in Alabaster since it’s a great neutral that will also look good in spring and summer.

These Santa baby earrings are so cute. My friend Airika Puckett collaborated with canvas-style jewelry and created eight different Christmas earrings. I’ll link to those for you, and you can use the code Airica-20 for 20% off.

I’m wearing a pair of faux leather block-heel pointy-toe boots that I styled recently. I like a block heel since it is easier to walk in, and a pointy toe always elongates your legs. I love this neutral color since it will match anything, but these boots are also available in gorgeous faux suede deep green. These run true to size; I’m wearing my usual size 9.

V-Neck Sweater and Flare Jeans for the Holidays

The first outfit was one I would wear for a casual Christmas, but this outfit is perfect for Thanksgiving. I love the Casual look of this outfit, and I think the color combination works great for fall, especially Thanksgiving.

If you need to travel for the holidays, I added this gorgeous Double Breasted Faux Wool Coat. I styled the Green version of this double red-breasted coat earlier, and I absolutely loved it, so I ordered this brown and white plaid coat for fall. The green coat was too big for me because this coat is oversized. I’m wearing a SMALL in the plaid version, which is still a little bit big. This is a nice heavy coat, and you can see the workmanship since all the stripes line up.

I love this cable knit sweater; the Brown Heather color is gorgeous. It is warm and comfortable without being bulky. The weight of the sweater is excellent and looks like other high-end sweaters I have bought. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits beautifully without looking lumpy!

When I went to the Coach Outlet earlier this summer, the sales lady told me their top-selling handbag was the Pennie. I ordered this handbag a couple of weeks ago in this gorgeous brown color, and I can see why it is a top seller.

I love that it has plenty of pockets and zipper compartments and the contrast between the Suede & Leather on the handbag. This color is no longer on the website, but plenty of other colors and styles exist. Many of these are on sale, so I will try to link several below I think you might like.

I paired the sweater with a pair of high-waist flare dark wash jeans, and I think these are the most universally flattering jean for most women. These jeans have a little more flare at the bottom than the barely bootcut jeans above, but they aren’t massive flares like jeans from the 70s. I love the fit of these jeans, they make your legs look long and lean, and they run true to size.

  1. I have been eyeing this gold vest in the Talbots website. A lot of reviews, claim it runs small. Can you give me your opinion on sizing? I have already ordered the sweater. 😀

    1. Chris, I go back and forth between a med/large. I’m wearing a medium which fits me great. But, if you are worried, I would size up. If it is a tiny bit big on you, that’s better than being too small.

  2. I love the classic look of fair isle and that color is delicious. I’m only 5’1″ so I’m having a hard time embracing the flared leg!

  3. Hi Tania,

Love your look. I have the Faux fur collar off white down puffer vest from Talbots. I get a lot of compliments how I style my vest.

    Happy Thanksgiving Tania.

    Vicki

  4. HI Tania, I absolutely love the salmon Fairisle sweater outfit. I definitely could see myself in this outfit. Thanks for the great outfit ideas. Cara

  5. While I like both of the outfits you styled, I have to say you glow in the 1st one from Talbots – just beautiful!

  6. OMG, just LOVE that Talbots outfit, the pink sweater with that vest is just gorgeous!!! Wish I could wear that shade of pink but my skin tone looks awful with it, I become too rosey!! LOL!!

  7. I love this coral sweater. You have brought new light to me about fair isle sweaters. I don’t which is my favorite?…this one or the olive one. Have a wonderful thanksgiving/
    Donna

  8. I am really liking all the sweaters in the posts. For awhile I got away from sweaters, but now and purchasing and wanting to wear more. I ordered the v neck sweater from Kohls already!

  9. Pretty salmon color! I was wondering if a person should avoid fairaisle sweaters if you have a larger bust? Does the pattern make you look larger?

  10. Your outfits look great! I’m wondering how good everyone is going to feel about wide leg pants when they realize each pair has to be hemmed for one heel height. So, if you’re ready to leave your house and it starts raining, you can’t just switch to your Sperrys like you could with skinny jeans……your pants will be too long. Three weeks into jeans weather here and I’m already annoyed.

      1. Love how your outfits can be worn by almost every woman, regardless of age or size. You really inspire us to try new things. Thanks. Happy Holidays.

  11. I love the casual outfits with jeans. We are going to church then celebrating with extended family so I will need to be a little dressier. The Santa earrings are fun!

  12. I just found your blog recently. Love your style. My favorite on your post today is the Nine West plaid coat and the Coach Pennie bag 🥰

  13. Love the Fairisle sweater, the color is so complementary. Easily could be worn on a cold Florida day, ( yes we have a few cold days here!!)

  14. I have the Fair Isle sweater and I bought a pair of caramel colored corduroy pant form Talbots to go with it. I’m thinking of ordering the brown sweater but in the dark green. Green is my favorite color and I’d get a lot of wear out of it through the winter. Loved this post since our family dresses pretty casual for the holidays! Thanks for the great post, Tania!

  15. I LOVE the bronze puffer vest with fur collar. It is a perfect touch to make the sweater/Jean look extra….classy.
The brown cable is a Fall classic as well as the plaid coat. So fun and stylish!

  16. That coral colored Fair Isle sweater is one of the prettiest sweaters I’ve ever seen! I think that is a color anyone could wear. Hope the wee bit of wool doesn’t make it too itchy. I’m adding it to my Talbot’s Favorite List and will watch it for a sale price. Hopefully that happens soon.

  17. I love the beautiful colors in these outfits! The Santa earrings are a winner too! Your blog is so encouraging! Thank you for the scripture you post as well!

  18. Canvas holiday earrings are perfect, not cheap looking at all…..now I need to decide which pair to order!!

  19. Hi……..love the puffer vest. I got that and great sweater to go with it. Keep givIng us all those
terrific suggestions. Happy Holidays to you and yours. Karen Z.

  20. I prefer the look of the second outfit with the gorgeous plaid coat. Definitely plan to wear jeans at Thanksgiving. Thanks for styling so beautifully these two outfits.

  21. Cute outfits today! I like them both! Mostly I’m thinking that I want a pair of the Christmas earrings though! Thanks for always bringing great looks for us gurls!!

  22. I love the soft colors of the Fair Isle sweater and the fur on the vest looks luxurious. How adorable are the Santa Baby earrings! You always look so tasteful and put together.

  23. I love a fair isle sweater! Really great outfit. I may have to try those flare jeans. The last pair I tried the bottom wasn’t much bigger than my boot-cuts. I do wish they’d put the inseam and other measurements on the web-site!
    Thanks!

  24. I love both of these outfits! The first one is perfect and your hair is gorgeous. Thank you for all that you do in keeping us up to date and current.

  25. Hello Tania, Glad I found you! You are Always Tastefully accessorized! Happy Thanksgiving to you & your Family. Thank You,Tracy

  26. Hello Tania, Glad I found you! You are Always Tastefully accessorized! Happy Thanksgiving to you & your Family. Thank You,Tracy

  27. I really like everything about this post! The sweaters, jeans, handbags, coat, vest…oh my!! I think I have shopping fever. Thank you – I think…

  28. I love the salmon colored sweater on you! Your coloring is similar to mine so I may have to add another fair isle sweater to my collection. I really enjoy your blog and the outfits that you put together.

  29. The salmon color fairaisle sweater outfit is gorgeous on you! I also love the cable knit sweater from Kohl’s. Thanks for this post on how to dress for the holidays in jeans.

  30. Tania
Love the entire look of the 1st outfit and the 2nd is nice for a casual look too. You always look great and I love your hair. The Santa earrings are so cute. Thanks for always keeping us up to date in fashion.

  31. The one word I can use to describe both outfits is SCORE! Both are beautiful on you and perfect for our upcoming holidays. I definitely need to get one pair of darker washed bootcut or flare jeans. I’m having shoulder surgery tomorrow, so I have no idea what tops I will be able to wear for Thanksgiving and Christmas. If my mobility is restricted, I will be living in mine & my husband’s flannel button ups. I have already been told to not plan on wearing a bra for a little while, so appropriate coverage will be a high priority.

  32. Oh my goodness, I love both of these outfits! You look beautiful in both. I have the brown cable sweater in my Kohl’s bag already. It’s a great price too.

  33. Two great outfits! Thanks for all the work you do. I know it has to be hard to come up with content seven days a week. I’ve followed you for years and you still give me new ideas all the time.

  34. Tania, That pink/salmon sweater is beautiful on you. The color is perfect. And it’s so festive looking, I’m thinking of going after it myself. My hair is white, so it may not be as striking.
Thanks for your blog— I love it, it’s inspiring, ands it’s always encouraging to be inspired by folks who love the Lord.

  35. I love both outfits on you, especially the second one. And the Santa Baby earrings are the best! May I ask about winter boots? An earlier post mentions your sister has Mortens Neuroma. I have the same problem and I’m presently shopping for (tall) winter boots. If she is able to recommend that would be great. Unless you are able to provide another blog on winter footwear for foot problems? Thank you.

      1. Oh, thanks so much Tania. I live in Canada so we are definitely in the “snow season” (grin). I did purchase the runners that your sister wears and they are incredibly comfortable, without having to wear my Aetrex insoles too. I would really like to find some tall boots for Morten’s Neuroma sufferers, but will certainly consider what you post when your time permits. Thanks again!

  36. I have the same Talbots sweater that I pair with their ivory vest. I’m considering buying the metallic vest if I can catch it on sale.

  37. Good Morning

I love that puffer vest! Cute, cute!
I went to brunch with a friend yesterday and debated on wearing denim or black pants, went with denim and they looked so cute with my grey booties.

Yes, we can dress up denim.

Thanks for the daily inspiration and have a blessed day.

  38. Now you’re in my corner. Love everything about that first outfit. I’m a casual kinda girl . Thanks Tania.

  39. I thoroughly enjoy and USE the information in your posts! Keep up the good work. I love that you include the word of God in your posts. He is the reason for everything!

  40. The Fair Isle sweater and vest are beautiful with your coloring. It is festive looking, too. Love the jeans from Kohl’s and that style is great for those of us with a rectangle body shape.

  41. Hi Tania, your hair looks so nice! I really enjoyed this post. I loved the casual but yet so dressy look it is. I liked the pink/peach sweater with vest, with jeans, very dressy and festive. I really liked the multi color coat, and from Kohls even! Of course I love my brown, so your sweater was on point. I just purchased a camel color sweater and my daughter is already eyeing it!

  42. The first outfit looks beautiful on you. I especially like the salmon sweater near your face. Your hair looks really good.
I’m not as crazy about the brown sweater in the second outfit. I do like the coat and jeans. As a matter of fact, I have similar jeans that make me feel modern and sassy!

  43. I actually have the salmon fair isle sweater and love it! I hesitated about getting it because of the wool content but it is very soft and I’ve enjoyed wearing it. Get lots of compliments!! I wear it with chocolate cords and a cream fur collar puffer vest. There is a hat, scarf and gloves in the same pattern on the website that are on my wishlist. Love this type of casual look.

  44. Thanks for the post! I love a dark bootcut jean…I’ll look up the first jeans featured. Enjoy Thanksgiving 🙂.

  45. Thanks for showing a lower end price outfit, also. I don’t like to spend a lot on sweaters since we only get to wear them a few days where I live.

  46. I am so glad that I found your blog! I am 61 and love your style. I also like that you also offer affordable styles. Thank you!

  47. I love the fair isle sweater, but too hot here in Florida to wear. Guess I’ll have to move further north as I am a sweater kind of girl.

  48. Talbots jeans you are wearing have terrible reviews. Ladies think if you endorse good quality vs cost. Not the case here. I have shopped Talbots for 30 years. Prices are not reasonable on all, like the metallic vest. In these economic down years let’s get some bargains. Thanks & keep it going!!👍

  49. Hi Tania
Loved this post featuring some beautiful sweaters, coat and bags. I’m a sweater girl too – sounds like something from the 20’s LOL – as they’re warm and soft and perfect for the busy holidays: everything from decorating to shopping and hosting a lovely family meal.
Being comfortable while stylish and looking put together makes for relaxing and fun times for this beautiful Season ahead. God Bless.
    Jeanne

  50. Absolutely love the first outfit with the salmon pink sweater, vest and jeans. And those earrings are so cute!

  51. I really enjoy reading your blog each day. I especially like the posts that include more affordable items. Thank you for all of the suggestions and tips.

  52. I am inspired by your Words of scripture. I also like seeing the outfits all pulled together, and where to find each item.

  53. I like that some of the outfits are a little less expensive and some are higher priced. There is a wide range of prices for the outfits.

  54. I just love your blog! My body type is very different from yours (I’m petite and curvy), but I still get so many ideas from you.

  55. Love the outfits, but can’t find links to first outfit. The salmon sweater? vest?the links to 2nd outfit are shown several times, but none I can see for first.
