How To Wear Black And Not Look Older

Every season, I seem to pick a color or two, and everything that I purchase is in that color family. This winter, my color choices seem to be black, gray, and red. My sister is probably going to be happy about my color choice, especially since she lives in those colors. But this is a big change for me since I usually gravitate toward brighter colors. One of the reasons that I don’t wear a lot of black is because it can be harsh against your skin. I think wearing a modern style helps black not to age you, and also, wearing a print with black can distract the eye. Since I have learned to go with the flow and enjoy where the ride takes me, I am embracing my dark side. Lol!

How To Wear Black And Not Look Older – Bottoms

Everyone has heard that wearing black is slimming. Maybe that is true, and if it is, I want my lower half to be the area that is slimmed down. Plus, adding black to the lower half of your body will let you wear other colors next to your face. Brown and black are a great color combination, and I think the brown cashmere sweater lightens up my face and looks great with the kick flare pants.

How To Wear Black And Not Look Older – Prints

Wearing prints is a great way to incorporate black into your outfit without it making you look older. Prints are fun and lively, and they add more colors to your outfit. Even though I’m wearing black and white, the outfits look brighter and more interesting. I even wore black shoes and carried a black handbag, but the look was still brighter. Experiment with prints and add some fun to your outfits.

How To Wear Black And Not Look Older – V-Neck

There are times I WANT to wear black near my face. When I do, I usually will do a couple of things to help me not look older. I’ll wear jewelry to create lots of interest, I’ll wear brighter makeup to brighten my face, or I’ll wear a v-neck top. Wearing a v-neck draws your eyes to that area and helps to elongate your neck. That creates space between your face and the black top, and it also helps you to look thinner. I call this a win-win!

How To Wear Black And Not Look Older – Bright Colors

Wearing bright colors next to your face is an easy way to wear black and not look older. Bright colors draw attention and brighten up the look of every outfit. I love wearing bright colors, especially in the fall and winter, as a way to brighten up a gloomy day.

How To Wear Black And Not Look Older – With Statement Accessories

Everyone needs a black dress for certain occasions. One way to wear black and not look older is by wearing statement accessories. I added two statement pieces of pearl jewelry near my face that draw all the attention. Then, I added a pair of old leopard print pumps to draw attention to my feet.

Trends are a great way to help you look younger and modern. They show that you pay attention to the latest fashions and that you aren’t stuck in a clothing loop that is outdated and frumpy looking. This bomber jacket has quickly become my favorite! I love the feel of the leather; it is buttery soft. I never thought that I would prefer a bomber jacket over my moto jacket, but I actually like it better. I think it is the casual style that looks great with pretty much everything.

How To Wear Black And Not Look Older – With A Bright Lipstick

Dull, boring, plain, dreary, and aging are words sometimes used to describe black outfits. Brightening up your face can alleviate almost all of those comments. Adding a touch more blush or a bright lipstick is the easiest and fastest way to brighten your face. I used High-Intensity Long-Lasting Lip Pencil (Dragon Girl) in this photo. 33. Hi Tania,
I am a new subscriber to your blog and also your new big fan!! It is hard for me to find clothes that fit well. I am 5’8 and about 174 lbs most of it in the top half of my body (no junk in my trunk) and thinner legs and hips. When I see you in all of these beautiful outfits, it gives me hope, inspiration and confidence to try an online orders. Usually I have to spend a lot to have a good fit and think that is due to height. I ordered one of the dresses from your link from Amazon. Fingers crossed! I have never ordered anything from Walmart. If you don’t mind me asking what is your height?

    1. Donna, I hope you like the dress you ordered. I’m 5’6″ tall and weigh between 150-155, “usually.”

Interesting to me that you did a post about wearing black, when most of your posts lately have been about spring. Bring on the bright colors. Warm in SC today, but getting cold again tomorrow….ugh!
