HOW TO MAKE A NEUTRAL OUTFIT STAND OUT
As much as I love color, it seems like neutrals have been my go-to look this winter. Every time I get a shipment of clothing in, there will be more neutrals in the box than anything. I do have to be careful though because I can look washed out in some neutrals, but I’ve found out how to fix that issue.
Neutrals go with anything, and there are several different colors and shades to choose from. I have been loving the camels, beiges, and ivory colors which are all lighter colors. So, I’ve found that if I add an anchoring item in a darker color, the neutrals will POP! Instead of fading away and looking washed out, they look elegant and chic. I don’t know about you, but I like looking elegant and chic.
My neutral sweater is gorgeous all on its own. I love how the sleeves and the turtleneck are in a camel color, and the body of the sweater is beautiful winter white. The cotton blend sweater is nice and thick, and I like how it has a relaxed fit. It is a shorter length, but it is not a cropped length, so it will look great with jeans, etc. The sweater is machine washable, and that is always a plus in my book. I am wearing a medium in the sweater, and I think that it fits me perfectly. This white/camel combination is limited in sizes, but there is a white/gray option also available.
These High-Rise Sloan houndstooth plaid pants are very nice! I love the thickness of the pants, and how they have the seam that runs down the front and back. The pants are a best seller for the retailer, and I can see why. They fit great and snug which is flattering and the plaid print is a great classic pattern. I am wearing my usual size 10 in these pants, and I found that they fit true to size.
To finish up my neutral outfit, I added my Sam Edelman knee boots that I bought last year. These boots are sold out, and any boot in this color is in high demand and hard to find. When you spot them in the store or online, you better grab them because they don’t last long. I’ll see if I can find some to link to.
Now, this is a nice neutral outfit! To give it a little more interest, I added my Ryder multi-chain necklace that has both silver and gold chains. I love this necklace because it makes a big statement, but also because I don’t have to worry if my jewelry matches. Honestly, I never try to match my jewelry, but I normally wear more gold than silver. Kendra Scott is having a sale today, and in order to get your items by Christmas Eve, the 16th is the last day that you can place an order.

Now, let’s add an anchoring dark color to the neutral outfit and see if we can make the whole look pop! This navy double-breasted blazer from Express is so nice! I love the thickness of the material and the large gold buttons on this blazer. This blazer is very chic, very classic, very polished, and very flattering. Can you tell that I like the blazer. If that didn’t convince you, then how about the fact that I liked it so much that I ordered it TWICE. Lol! I forgot that I ordered it and ordered it again. I was so confused when the second blazer showed up on my doorsteps. Lol! I am wearing a size 12 in the blazer, and I love the way that it fits.
I think the whole outfit looks nice…but there is something missing. I know, I need a handbag.
Yep, that is what I needed to complete the outfit. I added my Louis Vuitton Neverfull handbag, and the look is now perfect. This handbag was a gift to me, and it took me forever before I would purchase it. I set a stretch goal for myself, and once I had achieved the goal, I couldn’t make myself buy the bag. Lol!!! Now, I carry it all of the time and I can’t imagine why it took me so long. Oh yeah, now I remember, it costs a lot of money. Hahaha!

Oh no! It must have been a one day only sale. I am so sorry, Kristine. I am sure they will have another sale before the end of the year.

Laurie, since traveling has been put off by most people, I haven’t given that any thought.
Very classy looking outfit! I like how you took it from casual to professional/dressy. The bible verse is a good reminder for me today also. Thank you.

If anyone is looking for a similar pair of boots, here is one I found (just a quick google search on Target since I bought my similar ones from Target last year (styled by Cyndi).

Lol! You are a hoot, Patti!
Because of your coloring, those neutrals look so fabulous on you! But with my coloring, I have to go with black, pure white, gray and navy for my neutral look. You look so pretty in everything you put on!
Amy, you can change the sweater color and make the look work for you.
